  2. Randy - where are you located?? Im in MN and yesterday a buddy and i slammed the Bass. . . We went to a lake/s outside of Maple Lake called Mink and Sommers. . . My father had went there the day before(Saturday) and hammered the Bass too. We went with the feeling its way to hot, but oh boy were we wrong. My father had told us to use salamanders and Ring Fry's just outside the weed line throwing in . . . we got around 20-25 Bass within 2-3 hours. We were out during the hottest part of the day 3-8pm and fishing was just incredible. . we never even threw any other bait besides those 2 plastics and had fish all day. These conjoined lakes were so weedy we had to clean the trolling motor every 30 yards, but the fish were just as thick. . .if you live around there at all give that lake a shot it's definitely worth it. . . just my .02 and in case you're wondering, all the Bass ranged from 2- 5lbs consistently
  3. The Oscar fish's scientific name is Astornotus ocellatus. Astronotus means being marked with a star on it"s back. ocellatus means bearing an ocellatus marked, or "eye spot." Oscar fish are in the animal kingdom and are classed as a bony fish. The Oscar fish are found in South America and have accidently spread to Florida. They live in fresh water and are in subtropic and tropic waters. The Oscar fish are in the Cichlid family. Cichlids differ in size, body shape, coloration, and breeding habits. The one LBH has sounds quite a bit bigger than any i have seen . . i think its great you weigh it every winter too!!!
  4. Good Info Bandit. . . i've had fish die because of this and it cost me in the end. . . hopefully it'll never happen again now!!! Thanx
  5. Dayton MN. . . the land of 11,2xx lakes! seems they keep adding them. . . Fish The Mississippi River a little and mostly North Metro Lakes. . and every so often, The Boundary Waters, Leech Lake and Mille Lacs
  6. i would definitely have to say S.America for the Peacocks. . .i was fortunate as a younger angler to go fishing for them in Kauai, in a stocked lake. . .nothing huge, but plenty of nice ones. . . then i would also have to agree about hitting up Mexico or Cuba to catch some Lunkers. . . all while getting a solid tan!
  7. i've seen my share of puppet shows at boat launches. . . i've even seen people get into fights before. Just last weekend there was a line of trucks and trailers about 15 deep and it was a 2 lane launch. one guy got stuck in the water because he still had it in reverse when he took off and the guy next to him couldn't get anyone to move so he could get his boat onto the trailer. people need to realize that when there's others around you need to be READY to pull in/out and get your boat out of the way quickly. And people also need to realize that there are others waiting to get on/off too so it's not appropriate to sit there and strap your boat all the way down and tarp it too. . . pull away from the launch and then do that stuff. .
