Good Catfish Bait?
The bait that works best for me for channel cats is frozen squid. It is very tough and stays on the hook until you remove it. Get it at any Asian supermarket. For flatheads I like green sunfish best. They are hardier than bluegills and live longer on the hook. If you have access to bullheads, they are probably the best flathead bait.

Do You Wear Bright Colors While Fishing? Or Camouflage?
In hot months I wear a white Columbia Bahama fishing shirt. In cooler spring and autumn months I wear a sky blue Columbia Bahama fishing shirt. In winter I wear a dark brown Duks Bak shirt.

My First Marine Radio
I'll never go out on the water without a VHF radio. I've used mine to hail Vessel Assist when my motor broke down and they had a tow boat at my location in 15 minutes. Also, my buddy with a radio in his boat and I can communicate with each other no matter where we are on the lake.

Tools To Keep With Your Boat...
I figure I'm out on the water alone with no one to help me. I keep a complete socket set with short and long extensions and rachet, 3/8 through 7/8 open end wrenches, flat and philips screwdrivers, 2 vise grips, needle nose and regular pliers, electrical tape, duct tape, electrical wire, extra spark plugs & plug wrench, hammer, assorted hose clamps, tie wire, and extra fuses. There may be more in my boat tool box that I can't think of at the moment.

Hanging My Rods In My Van
I got a rod hanger system from Cabelas that holds 9 rods. I needed to drill 2 hioles for each strap (4 total) to install. It works great anf keeps rods off the floor and saft from breakage.

Fishing With Live Blue Gill
I only use live sunfish for flathead catfish bait at night.

Lifting Bass With The Rod

Bream Pets
At least 29 gallon. Only put in one. The dominant fish will harass and eventually kill weaker ones. I also recommend a poured resin "wood" stump that can be purchased at an aquarium store. Mine is hollow with roots that support the stump (like legs) and provide an area under the stump where fish can hide and swim through. I use plastic plants as I can't keep real ones alive. I also have 5" channel cat and a plecostomus cat (to keep the glass clean) in my tank.

Flooring In My Boat Need Advise
The floor rotted out because the factory didn't take the time and expense of treating the wood properly. Follow my directions and the floor will outlive you. Treat every piece of wood (old and new) this way. Buy fiberglass resin and cloth at Home Depot. Mix the fiberglass resin by the directions on the can, then dilute it to a thin mix with acetone. I only worked with about 6 ounces of material at a time to keep it from setting up too quickly. Paint every surface of your wood with this diluted mix and let it set up. Give it 3 coats. The diluted resin will soak into the wood where the acetone will evaporate leaving the wood impregnated with fiberglass resin. Then give it a final undiluted coat and apply the fiberglass cloth and give it a final coat. After this sets rough up the surface in preparation of carpeting. Buy your carpet and cut it to fit. Then apply carpet adhesive and install the carpet. Use a roller to smooth it out and avoid bubbles. I used a wooden baking rolling pin. This floor will last the life time of the boat. Happy fishing!

I buy nearly all my fishing equipment and supplies from BPS, but I've never been to their store. I do it all online. Sure beats a 1 hour drive each way just to get something I can research and order and have delivered to my door!

Pa Horse Power Limit?
I had no idea Pennsylvania had horsepower limits so unrealistic! I live in Arizona and have an 80 hp motor on my 16 foot boat. I consider that a good balance between power and economy. And it is a relatively slow boat on our lakes where most bass boats have 200 hp and there are people out on the water in high performance boats with twin 500 hp motors doing over 100 mph! Anyway, I would not want to be out on any decent sized lake with less than 80 hp for safety's sake. Just too dangerous when wind and waves pick up. I used to live in Pennsylvania, glad I live here now. And I can fish year round! We do have some small lakes with 10hp restrictions or electric motors only, but they are small lakes that you can easily walk all the way around. All the large lakes allow unlimited power. Does this hp restriction apply to ALL Pennsylvania lakes, or only select lakes? What about the rivers. I remember seeing skiers and fast boats on all the rivers in Pittsburgh.

Freshwater Lures In Salt Water
One of my favorite bass lures is an old salt water L&S Mirro-Lure I used to fish for snook with in Florida. Looks just like an injured shad and bass love it.

I remember watching Gadabout Gaddis on Sunday afternoons with my parents when I was in school. Didn't American Sportsman with Kurt Goudy come on either before or after Gadabout?

Treble In Finger
I stepped on a hook while snook fishing on my grandparents dock when I was 14. Didn't quite know what to do so I pushed and turned the hook out till the barb was exposed and cut it off with diagonal cutters, then backed out the hook shank.. Wasn't easy to do, took two hands to cut off the hook end. I now carry compound cutters in my tackle box. They work like mini bolt cutters and can easily cut any hook with one hand. About $12 at Lowe's. Some hook removal can't be done the stout string method, that's where these come in, especially if you're fishing alone! Oh yes, I caught a nice 10 pound snook about 15 minutes later, that blood was good chum!
