  1. I think that islans is a sunken island from the looks of it. I would start on the north end, there doesn't look like there is to much for structure around it, I see one small nondescript point towards the east side. The small cove on the north west corner also would get attention. The reason I would start on the north end is the prevailing spring winds are usually from the south and it pushes the warm water towards the north end of the lake, this concentrates the bait fish which also means the bass would be moving up. From the looks of it the best spawning areas are also on the north end and even at temps in the 40's fish will start moving into those areas. For lures I would be working a jerkbait slow to cover water, slow rolling a spinnerbait also to cover water, and if working a specific spot soaking a jig, either flipping or hair, more than likely a hair jig in the cold water.
  2. Nick,I would get it, or you could buy it and if you don't like it I will buy it from you. IMHO they are right up there with Curados, the only thing I rate the curados higher on is there ease of modifying.
  3. http://www.northstarbaits.com/shipping.html That page pretty much explains your payment options, its all paypal but you do have the option to paying with a Credit or debit card without having a paypal account. You can also send a Money Order.
  4. We know...lol its the soft plastic cross tail shad bait. I am pretty much guarantying a win on this one, I tested it all of last year and had great results, especially on smallies, but its a great ds bait all around.
  5. You never have to pay full price, the 10% code is always valid, sale or no sale, there is also many sale items left in the bargain bin!
  6. NorthStar Custom Baits are now available at Tackle Warehouse! Please support us and throw some in on your next order! They also have a Heavy Duty version of the Hairy Craw, built on a Alien head with the 3x Mustad hook, and for now it is a Tackle Warehouse exclusive. http://www.***.com/NorthStar_Custom_Baits/catpage-NORTHSTAR.html
  7. lead free jigs is made out from tungsten like keitech model jig 1 or keitech football Not all lead free jigs are made from tungsten, unless you want all your jigs made in china tungsten ain't the answer. They are usually tun, bismuth or some mixture of tin and bismuth, I don't know what the evo jigs are made from but its probably one of the 3.
  8. The pro and premier twin packs are up, they are at the bottom of the page, I am going to treat them like a back order so the rest of your order doesn't get delayed in shipping. So the rest of your order will ship like normal, and the out of stock twin packs will ship when they are complete. These twin packs are only going to be up for today though, after today there shouldn't be as many "problems" cause the sale will slow down
  9. ok guys, I was unaware this could happen, I apologize. This is the first real world "test" of the inventory management system, it worked good for everything else, but apparently not when there is a ton of people browsing. I am going to put up a twin pack sale and make it open ended for premier jigs and pro jigs but they will not be finished and will increase ship times, if you already placed an order you can go ahead and reorder what ever you missed out on and don't worry about the shipping, just select free shipping for orders over $50.
  10. This is the first time I am using the inventory management system so I am sure there will be bugs to work out for next time. I got Bwell taken care of
  11. Open for business!!
  12. Here is a little update on the sale, I have alot of the sale items complete ready to roll, I however have alot of the sale items in various stages of finish. We are still going on with the sale, I will be turning off the store today and loading up the bargain bin. The Store will be turned on at 7:00 am Central time 3/18/2011 all sale items are considered instock and have a limited quantity (quantity available will be shown with item) so if you want something buy it otherwise it will be gone later!
  13. Sales already going Dan, I just ordered some and threw in some KVD square bills to try also since they are also on sale and I haven't seen them in stock locally.
  14. You have to "walk" them through the wood, when you feel it bounce off something pause for a second and let it recover, and slowly walk it by, most of my hits come as you pause for a second anyway. The beauty in my eye is that they catch fish and they are cheap as all get out, I have never paid more than sale price for them, so I stock up and if I loose one I am not as mad as if I loose a RC
  15. Disagree, I think they come through fine, you have to walk them through slowly but I have always had fantastic luck with square a's, I like the rc series but for the price I think the square a is pretty hard to beat!
  16. There have been some interesting names for these. I really appreciate everyone's input on this! The Pro Series winner is J Francho with Peas and Carrots The Premier Series winner is Bass Thumb with Okeechobee Flame Let em know what size and head type you guys want for your jigs and I will get them out. If you liked these colors they will be making their debut at the spring sale which begins on Friday the 18th!
  17. Bird Dog is the winner. Aurora Shad is the name of the bait. I liked alot of the names, but I thought this name fit pretty well with our company. I also liked money shot, but thought maybe Reaction Innovations would get mad since they have the market cornered on porn names...lol Bird Dog let me know what color you want your Aurora shads in and I will get them out asap, and for everyone else interested in the bait, they will be making their debut at the spring sale Starting this Friday the 18th!
  18. I have 150 originals tied right now, all in the best colors, will hopefully get to some heavy covers this week.
  19. I have used safety wire pliers, but I broke my last pair and haven't replaced them yet, I was trying to tell how to do it on the cheap, the safety wire pliers are nice, but you don't "need" them to do it. I tied over 150 jigs yesterday by needle nose and hand, so it can be done without. One tip on the safety wire pliers is try to find ones without the automatic return spring, it makes things easier imho
  20. lol at hot duece.... almost spit dew all over the computer screen
  21. After a good turnout on the name the bait contest, I have 2 new jig colors I can't come up with names for to. Whoever wins the name the color contest for the jigs will win 5 of each jig you pick the head style and weight. Since their is 2 different colors, there might be 2 different winners, each winner gets 5 of each jig! Here are the colors This one of the new pro series colors: And this is a new Premier series color
  22. Staff is looking it over right now, so we will name a winner tonight. I really appreciate everyone chiming in on this, like I said I am not the most creative when it comes to naming things. I have a couple new jig colors that need names also, I will post those up today and we will have another contest!
  23. I use a 22 gauge floral wire, it has a really nice coating on it that you can't get to come off which keeps it from rusting, otherwise any 22-24 gauge stainless or copper wire wire will work. To retie old jigs simply roll back the old collar (be gentle those things fall apart easy) to the hook bend, making sure the strands stay in the same approximate place, you will more than likely have to re-separate the strands cause they like to stick together where the collar was holding them, then place the jig in a vice hanging vertically, then take your wire and do 2 complete wraps around the jig, cross the wire at the bottom, and twist until it is relatively tight to the bottom of the jig, then take a needle nose and pull the wire tight, and twist until the wire is snug at the bottom of the jig, then take the needle nose and snip the wire off at about a 1/4" from the jig, fold that back into the jig and you are complete. This is how I started to tie, I opened up my jig box one spring and about 1/2 the jigs had fallen apart, needless to say I wasn't happy, so I retied them all with wire, then started to tie all the jigs I made, figured if they were falling apart for me, they were falling apart for customers also. One thing to watch for is the amber colored collars seem to fall apart the quickest, don't buy anything with those. The white and black collars will last at least one more season, the best collars for longevity are the eakins style that have the rattle holders right in the collar, those have seemed to last the longest for me.
  24. smithwicks are to light for me, and I don't think I have ever caught a fish on one, I actually just took my remaining ones out of my jerkbait box and gave them to my son, I had to make room for more pointers and x raps.... gotta love Cabelas sales!
