  1. Hummmm ok waiting on my 09 catalog but already have my new reel picked out and just need there show dates to get the additional reel turn in discount and the Quantum Catalyst PTI-B is going to be on a new rod
  2. My Christmas present to myself was a Cabelas XML ,M 6'6" rig n jig rod and a Shimano Sahara FD but the reel will be going on a Cabelas XML 7' ML rod
  3. I was looking at the Tierra myself at one time and its very very close in comparison to the Cabelas Prodigy reel which Daiwa also makes for Cabelas. Myself I ended up getting a Quantum Catalyst after reading the reviews on another site that recommend it as a Best Buy and the Quantum Energy is/was on clearance at Cabelas for either $114 or $119 and is a pretty good choice as well.
  4. For me my Choice is Quantum with Daiwa/Cabelas a close second and third. I know some people often mention the weight of the Quantum spinning reels but for me they workout just fine.
  5. For me its the Quantum Catalyst PTI off ebay from Wildwestbargains for $45 and liked it so much I'm getting the New 09 Catalyst PTI-B from BPS for $139.
  6. I'll be getting the Catalyst spinning model when BPS does there spring fishing event and reel turn in.
  7. Thanks again for the warm welcome to the board and gonna be a long rest of the winter with the hard water conditions So I guess I'll keep the bait monkey and Cabelas occupied for the next couple of months.
  8. Just wanted to say Hey to all the IL fishing people. I'm back in Chicago on the far south side of the city and I was in Worth, IL which is southwest of the city. I pretty much fish within and hour or so of the southside and have made it to plainfield and some other small natural lakes in the area and even some of the small park lakes and ponds as well. Bass fishing is pretty much it for me but of course when you are fishing for bass u tend to catch a little of everthing at times. Oh and my truck knows the way to Both the Cabelas in Hammond, IN and BPS in Portage, IN
  9. BPS has them on there website now
  10. I don't have the XMLti but have the XML versions of there rodsin the spinning versions . I have one 6'6", 7' and a 6"6" split grip and they are great rods with the normal price being $139.99 and I've caught them all on sale for around $70 and I agree they have a great return policy and found out when I snapped the 6'6" rod in two. I went in with the receipt and tag from the rod and it took me longer to find the new rod then the exchange. They are light at least in my opinion and very sensitive. I want to step up to an XMLti but for the cost I'll stick with the XML versions
  11. Hello All and my name is Gil and I've been fishing for the last couple of years after watching my brothers enjoy it during the spring and summer months and into the fall with there own little tournament. I got into it one year and can honestly say I didn't know what I was missing. We mostly fish natural lakes within and hour or so of the chicago southside. In our 3 man tournament I've placed third for the last 2 years but stepped up my equipment big time and yes the bait monkey has been on my back...lol. Right now I'm a big Cabelas Rod fan and Quantum reel fan and thanks for allowing me to join Gil
