best all around color
My primary summer color is Junebug or Junebug Red - for some reason I have also had good luck with Pumpkin in the fall - but Greenpumpkin is by far the most popular, at least around here.

Corny very CORNY : From the MUDVAULT
Way too much time on your hands dude - you need to go fishing! (Actually I love this stuff - puns are the highest form of humor).

what would you say/do?
In our club we have a guy that is pure gold in every way - including between the ears - he will do anything for you, but gets so caught up in winning that he will put his non-boater at a disadvantage without even knowing it. One of our regular non-boaters who has won lots of tournaments from the back of the boat was fishing with him one day and decided to climb up on the front deck when he was being squeezed out - the boater asked what he was doing and he said fishing the same water as you. After that he was very careful not to put that non-boater at a disadvantage.

Mozingo
Well, maybe they weren't skiing, but I did see some tubers and lots of yahoo boats and jet skis.

Mozingo
Senile, if this catches up with you - our tounament was tough. Lots of fish were caught but no discernable patterns. Bass seemed to be both deep and shallow - white spinner baits did well as did C-rigged ring fries especially along the road bed. We ran over some of the brush piles in the main channel but didn't see anything holding on 'em. Couldn't have fished them anyway due to the large group of yahoo boaters and skiiers. One of these days I'm going to figure this lake out, but haven't yet. I will be interested to hear about Bilby - have never fished it but heard lots of good stories.

Mozingo
Hi gang, I have a small club tournament comming up this weekend at Mozingo - just wondering if anybody had any info or tips - I will probably spend most of the day up in the trees on the north end. Appreciate any help you have.

Erratic Movement
It's one of those things that you think you know, but you don't know until you experience it. One of my favorite ways to catch bass is on a crank bait - but I haven't been having much luck with them this year. Last night I went over to my home lake where I have been catching basss on jigs and T-rig worms from shore for a couple of hours of late evening fishing. On a whim, I tied on an RC 1.5, but didn't realy expect to throw it 'cause this area is full of exposed and submerged brush piles. After working the jig and the worm all around the point for about an hour with only a few bites and no hook ups, I decided to give the RC a try. As I was fishing, I remembered a recent Jimmy Houston show and a Bill Dance that I had just watched yesterday. Jimmy was talking about throwing a Rat-l Trap and moving one action into another action to catch fish. Bill was talking about erratic movement. I began to work the RC like a jerk bait (tug, tug, tug, reel - tug, tug, reel, etc.) and immediately got two hook ups in a row. Chunk and wind may work some times, but I am betting that erratic movement is the real ticket for most reaction strikes.

Gulp Batwing Frogs
Yeah, your right - these baits are no good -- oh, wait,,,what was it that everybody was using at the Champion's Choice Tournament ----GULP! Even marinating their other plastics in GULP! juice -- probably just a coincidence.
-
How many of you can answer these?
I forgot Freddie Freeloader, but got all the others -- Now for the bonus round, follow-up to #4 - there was a very unique signature ending to evey show - what was it?
-
Gulp Batwing Frogs
They have a pretty good action and hook-ups are a little better for me than with other plastic frogs ('cause it's GULP! and they hold on longer) but be glad you got 'em on sale because they do tear up pretty easy ('cause it's GULP! and they don't hold up).

Beginner Carolina Rig
I always use braid for my main line and a leader of flouro carbon or copolymer. I also use those "pre-rig" set ups that were mentioned above. "If you ain't getting hung up you ain't fishing where the fish are".

Swim jig weight?
90%+ of my jigs are 3/8 oz. - I can swim 'em if the conditions are right and pitch/flip 'em if they aren't
-
Drop Shot
MbBass, you can d/s from shore - just shorten up your drop and hold your rod high - to set the hook use a sweeping motion to right or left - I have done this on heavily pressured ponds and causht fish when no body else was getting a bite.

organizing a tourney for 2009
My suggestion would be to look around for a local club or small money tour in your area, these folks alread know how it's done and would most likely be appreciative of the publicity they could generate. Great idea, but it can be a challenge. Especially if you have never done something like this.

Nebraska Hogs! pics
How big is iron horse compared to Burchard? Which one would you consider the better April lake? Just curious.

New innovative product for fishing
Actually one of the guys in my local club suggested that G-Loomis needs to design a rod that looks like a tree branch and Ranger needs to desing a 22' boat that looks like a hollowed out tree trunk. Then we might be on to something.

New innovative product for fishing
I was looking at the reports from ICAST this week end and found this: http://www.pallatrax.co.uk/ My God, they've invented the rock

Nebraska Hogs! pics
Hey fishin..., How is Burchard - haven't been there in a couple of years - had heard some rumors that there was a problem with the dam and that the weeds were choking it out - sounds like maybe not.

How to fish light cover?
If the cover will allow it, you might also want to give a chatter bait a try or swimming a jig w/o the chatter. A white jig might draw some attention.

Tournament shirts
Spending $80 - $100 for a shirt just to go fishing - yeah that is pretty silly -- why I have even heard of guys spending up to $40,000 for a boat just to fish out of : Why does this bother you?

Baits for Deep Summer Fishin
I went fishing with a jig virtuoso last fall - he had us on brush piles in 20-25 feet of water, throwing a 3/8 oz. jig. I did catch one that was pretty good sized, he caught like 12 over the two days we were fishing. It was amazing to watch, but not sure I will ever be confident enough to hold out there for 8 hours like he did. I have also fished this way with T-riged worms (usually 6" to 7") size on 1/4 to 3/8 oz. sinker. The problem for me is the bites are always good ones, but there just ain't many of 'em.

What plastics to use for flipping?
Got my a$$ waxed last year by a guy thowing Salt Craws into visable bruch piles - I also have recently started using Berkley Chigger Craws.

Fishing on very windy days
The wind never stops blowing here in Nebraska and that's my excuse for not catching more fish (LOL). Actually this can be one of the worst conditions you will face. Partly because the wind can keep you from feeling what is going on with your lure/line and watching line become more difficult, too. C-rigs are not a bad idea as are moving lures, Spinner Baits, Cranks, etc. My experience is that un-weighted Senkos don't do well, 'cause they don't sink in the wind. If you can, reduce your line size, this may help some. A split-shot rig is another alternative when fishing Senko type baits, but this is really just a downsized C-rig.

Scaling Down Tackle for Tournament?
You guys quit giving RW advice - he's going to be fishing against me ;D
