  1. Wow, that's such a shame. Do you have any idea why?
  2. Thank you very much. I'm pretty interested in getting one. You say they're hard to find now?
  3. Can anyone please tell me what model this Daiwa is? I've looked all over for it and can't find one.
  4. Alright I'll keep that in mind. Thanks again man
  5. How well does that reel handle 80lb braid? I think the reason my other reel failed was because it couldn't handle the strain of the braided line I had on there.
  6. wow, i havent seen one of those bad boys in a while. i almost didnt recognize it
  7. Thanks guys. Yeah I'm looking on Ebay and FFO. Funny thing is I got my Trion from FFO, so I'm a little hesitant to buy from them again.
  8. I had a Pflueger Trion and the anti-reverse went out on me. I was angry to say the least. I only caught one decent sized catfish (27 lb) on it, and the anti-reverse burnt out. The clicker, drag, and thumb bar are all messed up. I'm looking into the Abu Garcia 6500-C3. Oh, I used 80 lb braid as backing and a 20 lb mono leader. What would you all recommend for this student angler on a limited budget?
  9. Good stuff man. It definitely happens. I hooked into 8 ish pound catfish while I was flippin' a tube. I thought I hooked a new state record. haha
  10. I've used this stuff and I think it's great. It's a high quality line for the price. This poor student angler is pretty happy? What do you all think?
  11. I'm gonna guess 9 lb 14 oz
  12. Likewise my friend ;D
  13. You're a Hokie? I'm a Wahoo myself, or at least plan on being one. haha
  14. The easiest thing I believe is not manually flipping closed the bail arm when using spinning reels. It literally takes less than a second. We've all seen it. We've all read it or heard it from others. Simple and easy fix. Another one I see is people using a snap swivel for every lure. That really grinds my gears. haha
  15. What I like to use is a Green Pumpkin Zoom Finesse Worm t-rigged with a 2/0 EWG. This is one of the few times I would actually choose a red hook over a black one. Idk why but it has produced more fish. Hope this helps.
  16. My personal favorite is the clown color for the Rapala X-rap. I fish in murkier waters, so it's the obvious choice.
  17. Yeah this is a picture of one I caught a few days ago. ;D Oh here's another question for all of you. What is your favorite bait? If you have some personal secrets, let us know. I will share one of mine. Of course I fish for bass more, so I have all kinds of lures and accessories. Something I like to do is dip the tail section of a piece of cut bait that I use in some of the garlic Dip n Glow. It gives it a pretty pungent garlic scent and also makes it a little more visible.
  18. My personal favorite is either a bolt rig or a slip sinker rig. Share your favorite. Post some pictures of rig and fish caught on them!
  19. It's kind of sad to say, but I am the only one. Both my mother and father, detest the idea that I fish. They say it is a waste of a student's time. I strongly disagree. This is something I love. Anyone else have parents like mine?
  20. Don't get too caught up on the flat sides being good for certain water temperatures. These cranks are great because of the tight action and the bill that deflects off just about everything. I thrown it into tips of sunken tree branches with no problems. As soon as you feel it hit the piece of cover, stop reeling and let it float up a little, then continue cranking. This avoids a snag and creats a erratic motion that works pretty well. As for color, my favorite is the peanut butter and jelly combo. The deep purple back w/ a tan belly kills where I fish. Hope this helps. ;D
  21. This is just a matter of where your rod tip is at the time of the bite. I would assume that when your jigging youre using the 10 o' clock to 12 o' clock motion. When you first detect as bite, as Road Warrior said, reel down quickly, picking up the slack, then give a sharp and quick snap of the rod to a vertical position or slightly diagonal one, while still maintaining constant tension. Hope this helps. Good luck to ya man. ;D
  22. Sorry if someone has already said this. There are just way too many pages of this to read through. ;D My personal favorite form of o-rings are actually clear hair bands from Wal-Mart. There about a dollar or so for a bag. If you get lucky like I did, you may be able to find the bulk bag of 100 instead of the regular bag of 25. Just use a pair needlnose pliers and wrap the band around the pliers a couple times then slip it onto your designated plastic. Hope this helps.
  23. From good ol' CH. haha
  24. Yup Yup. Petersburg, Hopewell, and Colonial Heights ;D
  25. Yessir thats exactly what I mean. I'm trying to find a club within the tricities area thats convienent for me to get to.
