  1. I'm one of those that's not only done it once but twice, with my brand new 2005 Champion boat. Both times have been when I'm fishing a tournament. I can atest for the floatation of a Champion, the last time I did it back in Nov. I fished for almost 4 hours with the plug out. I'm a freaken idiot. LOL! Luckily I'm 6'5" and can reach the plug, as long as I don't mind getting my head wet. Maybe I'll learn. I need to print that check list off, HUH?
  2. I loved the show. Great format. That's the kind of thing I want to see more of. By the way have you all heard about the new show that's coming on the Bass Block on ESPN2. It's going to be like the article a day on the lake, except they will be pitting a pro against a local angler. That sounds pretty cool too. Looking forward to seeing it.
  3. Is Virginia and Kansas considered Yankee territory? I know Northern VA could, but last time I checked I lived below the Mason Dixen Line. Kansas though, I think I would call him a midwesterner, not yankee. LOL!
  4. I'm with Raul on this one. Keep it simple. It's really easy to get caught up in all these colors. You fish long enough and you'll figure out that you keep throwing the same colors and that pink, flourescent green, macerechrome, orange flaked swirled worm looks pretty, but it doesn't do any better than your watermelon curly tail worm does. I think that colors play a part but if you stick to the basics as Raul said, it has more to do with profiles and action of the bait.
  5. Merry Christmas everyone, and here's to a wonderful and safe New Year. Brian
  6. That is crazy! And yes it was the Top Gun theme song. Where's Goose?

Welcome, there is a wealth of knowledge on here.
  8. I have to get in on this one. I agree with Matt here. I don't want the government stepping in and telling me when I can and can't fish. And it will happen if people on the water aren't responsible boaters. That goes for fisherman and pleasure boaters. I personally think fisherman and all outdoorsman have a great responsiblility in protecting the outdoors and the waters we fish. Part of protecting these waters goes to being able to share the water. Now I'm not saying that I don't get annoyed sometimes, because I do, it's just that a few bad apples shouldn't be allowed to ruin it for the rest of us. We have to share the water, that's just the way it is. My experiences have been that 99% of the people are very courteous, they are just using the water same as us. Like someone else said, if your fishing during busy seasons, you have to figure that into your gameplan.
  9. 1. Plastics - Weightless and t-rigged 2. Crankbait along rip rap 3. Spinner bait in spring. My favorite is Jig, still need work on that though. I think it's more of a confidence thing than anything else.
  10. 1. By far the Linder boys! Their shows are the best teaching shows I've ever seen. They explain everything, and man do they catch fish, like fivebasslimit said, they catch them all! 2. Bill Dance. I have to include him, I grew up watching him, he was the only fishing show I could watch when I was younger. (We had no cable, when I was a kid) He's the reason I fished every chance I could get when I was growing up. 3. I'm going to kiss up too you all now, I'm going to say this forum. I'm one that thinks you never stop learning. I think I'm a decent fisherman, but can always learn and I'm not afraid to ask questions when I have them and this site is the absolute best for that.
  11. Since I'm only allowed three: 1) Aaron Martins - Very versatile. 2) Dave Lefebre - Just seems like a nice guy and a good fisherman. 3) Davey Hite - Great determination and never quit attitude.
  12. Champ187... I have the exact boat! Color and all. I bought mine this past September and love it. It is a smooth riding boat.
  13. Now the forums are back....Raul is in the house!!!!!!!!! Oh and I also saw J.T. posted a message.
  14. I don't think the forums will let me put a wesite on here. (Don't really know why) But I found Kim Strickers website. If you use his name "KimStricker" and then add the word "productions" along with a .com, you should get it. Whew! All this code talk for a website.
  15. I know everyone says to use the Senko Wacky and weightless. I love fishing t-rigged plastics, and I can fish very slow. But I have a hard time fishing the senko wacky weightless. I don't know, guess it's a feel thing for me, cause I can't feel anything. I have had some recent success(actually the first time I ever tried it) T-rigging the Senko with a 1/8 oz. bullet sinker. Worked two days straight for some quality fish. Maybe it was just what they wanted then. Right speed and all. Don't know, but I plan on testing it again this weekend. There is no question the wacky senko weightless catches fish, especially IMO when they are suspended under docks.
  16. This is just my opinion here, but I asked the same question a month or so ago. I took RW's advice and went with the Gortex, Guidewear from Cabelas and then I took LBH's advice and got some Silke Long Underwear. (Don't tell anyone I got underwear advice from LBH). I have been extremely happy. I went with the uninsulated Gortex, and as LBH says, layer up. I have been out in 32 degree weather so far and fished for 6 hours in the rain with temps in the low 40s'. Stayed dry and warm. Best money I've spent. As far as durability that's to be seen yet.
  17. Thanks KU, That's it! Couldn't remember his name! :-/
  18. Did anyone see the underwater footage that has been on LMB the past two Saturdays? It was really neat. It showed crawfish moving on the bottom. Something I didn't know. They were moving in more of a jerk motion on the bottom. Move from one spot to another really quick. Instead of just crawling along the bottom. Makes me think about my jig presentation! Anyway I can't remember the guys name that did the filming, does anyone know? I would love to get those videos. It also showed a LM attacking a smallie that he had hooked and was reeling in. Way cool stuff!
  19. I plan on fishing all winter. Thanks to RW. the gortex I bought from Cabelas, is worth it's weight in gold. I went last Friday when the high temps was 34 degrees. I never got cold at all, except the fingers. Actually last Saturday and Sunday were some of the best fishing I've had on my local lake. I love the fall fishing. I guess the true test here will be in January. Brrr! Brrr! :-/
  20. Talk about, not knowing what you got til it's gone!! Whew!! Glad it's back. Looks great Glen.
  21. Now that is SICK! Good job LBH
  22. Thanks guys for all your help.
  23. My grandfather also used to say "wind from the west fish bite the best, wind from the east fishing bite the least". Just thought I would throw that in since the cows got brought up, which my grandfather use to also look at on our way fishing.
  24. Ok guys, heres the deal! Yesterday I experienced something that I have heard about but has never happened to me! I have a Childrens Miracle Network Classic Tournament this weekend, so yesterday I went to practice. I wanted to concentrate on finding some productive docks to fish after the morning bite was gone. I only caught one keeper and was not seeing many shad. So I decieded to make a move, I went as far back into a creek arm as I could. There is a big flat and as I was cruising in I could see 2" shad flipping everywhere, I mean dark spots of shad everywhere. I knew if anywhere there should be some bass it would be here. I fished through the flat and actually had my boat up into the creek channel bottomed out. No bites. I heard one slam the surface behind me, I didn't have a buzz bait tied on so, I hurried up and tied one on. My first cast to the spot, I heard one break, fish hit my buzz and I missed it. That seemed to start a frenzy. They were busting in 6' radius of where I threw my bait. I preceded to catch 4 fish, none under two pounds and one was 5lbs 1 oz. (rapala digital). As quick as they started it ended. About 5-10 min. long. It was awesome. I missed several. Everytime I cast there they would come up and slam it. My questions: 1. Do these bass move up to feed out of deeper water somewhere, because I just fished through the area they started busting with no hits. 2. Should the bass stay there as long as the shad stay back there? In other words if I go back there Sunday and the shad are there, would you guys fish that area most of the day in hopes of them coming back up to feed like that again? That was the craziest thing I've ever seen.
  25. Hey, LBH great idea! Make sure you send a video! I know as creative as you are, you will get there attention. Good luck! Brian
