finding fish strategy
Nice post Raul. You make it sound so simple. Especially when you break it down like that. Good job.

16'6" Cajun with 112 Evinrude - Need Prop
Alright guys, my prop has some dings and is not in the best shape, what prop would you all recommend. Not wanting to spend a bunch on this boat right now. Just want to get it in better shape. My biggest problem is determing what pitch to get. I did read the article in here on that, but is there a easier way to determine what pitch I need. Especially since my Tac. isn't working. I understand that more pitch less RPM's on the engine and vice versa. What's a good compromise?

Slow or fast presentations
As too skeet reese. I have yet seen a bait fish that rattles. But rattles work! I know this has come up before in here, personally I hadn't had much success with cranks unless I am banging it off of something. The true reason for that I am not Doug Hannan so I'm not sure, could be that when your banging it off of stuff, that's structure and that's were bass are so they eat it. Could be that it looks like an injured bait fish so that's why they eat it. I do know this with spinnerbaits I have caught them both ways, probably equally. I do have a lot more to learn though on throwing the blades. I know RW has said this many times before and it's the truth, bait profile makes a big difference in what they want to eat. And a side effect of different profile baits, or maybe the other way around, is the way that bait comes through the water.

Weightless plastics
RW, is right once again. I am only using platics right now. I am throwing some other things occasionaly, just to keep myself and the fish honest, but plastics or working for me and it's hard to put that away when it's catching fish, including a 6lber a couple weeks ago. I use the weightless when fishing around docks, when the fish are suspended there. I also am doing most of my fishing at night. Slow is the key, or what I like to say Coaxing. Coaxing the fish in to biting. I have confidence they are there and I am trying to make them bite. Example I pulled up to a brush pile the other night, I have gotten many fish off of this, I stayed for 20 minutes on this brush pile, making repeated casts until I finally coaxed one to bite my worm.

Fishing Something Different
I too fish Robo worms quite a bit. I usually fish the straight tail 6" worms. RW I think I have the same zipper in my bag somewhere and never fished them. I will have to try them on a drop shot rig. I like the Robos, I think they have great action. I have found another worm that I am really doing good on, and it comes from Wally mart of all places. It's the FLW worm in Red Shad Swirl color. It is really a hot worm for me right now. Mann's actually makes the worm, it's the dragon series. But when I went to Manns website they don't list that color.

My Lack of Confidence in Night Fishing
I too used to have low confidence in night fishing. It's like everything else, the more you do it the more confident you will become. The lake that I fish, you have to fish at night during the summer, if you want to catch any good numbers of fish. As far as worms go, I have been doing extremely well with straight tail worms with no rattle. Now that goes against what most people would say to use. This worm has very little noise making capability. But the key is fishing the high percentage places fish are at night. Bass feed alot more at night. So key on points and try and find schools of shad. Shad = Bass. Deep brush piles are gold this time of year. Just remember if you fish plastics always start out, slow, slow and even slower. It's painful at first, but once you land a couple that confidence will start to build. Good luck.

Clay Dyer
He is truly an amazing MAN! He proves if you want something bad enough, you can do it. I only hope that I can be half as determined as he is.

If you could fish any lake?
Pa Angler I made it U.S. because I knew almost everyone would say El Salto, if I included Mexico. LOL!!!! That place must be like a bass fisherman's (fisherperson- need to be politicly correct) paradise.

Any ever use hotdogs?
Rig it wacky style, just like a senko, hey let's see how much does a pack of hotdogs cost? Might be cheaper then a bag of Senkos. Durability probably the same. Don't know about the fall rate though. Raul we might need you on this one. Or RW.

Hey Bass And Salt?
In reference to the Robo worms, they are really good worms. They are extremely soft, but the action is really great.

Crazy things fishing partners do
I think I am probably in Raul's position. Most of the stories would probably be about me. One that always comes up when my partner and I go is, me sending his hat about 75 yards down a rip rap bank. I reared back to cast my crank down the bank, as I did along came my partners hat, right off the top of his head. You have to do some tuning to get those hats to come through the water right. LOL!

Re: CIRCLE THE WAGONS! (Please read.)
Let me say to LBH and all the people on this board, that it is people like you that make all the bad things in this world, not so bad! Now I don't want to get all mushy and teary eyed here, but I sure am d**n glad I found this website, not only for the great information, but for awesome people on here. It's nice to know that people with the same hobby and passion can come together when one of their own needs help. I'm am just proud to be a part of this forum, and my check is being mailed today. It too won't be as much as I would like to send, but if we all send just a little bit it will add up. Thanks again guys for making me proud to be a member here. Brian

Getting pumped
Does anyone else feel like I do on Fridays'? I feel like a kid waiting for the school bell to ring and I'm 35! It's just for different reasons now. I have two tournaments this weekend and I can't wait to get on the lake. I hope this feeling never goes away, although I don't think it will, because it hasn't for 20 some years now. Also I have'nt been fishing for about 9 days now and it's killing me. I usually go at least twice a week and more if I can get by with it. Maybe that's why I'm not married now! Just kidding lots of other reasons for that, but that is a whole another thread, heck that's a whole different website! LOL!

Are really becoming a better fisherman....
playmaker I agree with you. I don't have the brush piles planted, and I know I have become a better fisherman, especially this year. That is my point, I don't have those special places that I can go to and catch fish, I try and find the patterns. But don't you think that fishing on one lake all the time (and I am talking about tournaments) and you have brush piles out that gives you a huge advantage that you wouldn't have on another lake?
-
Are really becoming a better fisherman....
O.K. guys heres the question. Are you really becoming a better fisherman or should I say are you a really good fisherman if you fish the same lake and you put out brush piles on that lake? Could someone that fishes that lake all the time and catches 5 five fish limit weighing 20+ lbs. go to other lakes and compete in tournaments, when they don't have their baited brush piles? As you probably can tell from the way I worded the questions, I don't feel that you are becoming a better OVERALL angler by, what I consider baiting fish. Now don't get me wrong, I know you still have to catch the fish even if you know where they are and that's not easy. I understand that. I guess it's just a question I've been mulling over in my head and would love to get your all's opinion.

Teach me to worm fish
I started out when I was 12 bass fishing with a worm. It is my favorite way to catch bass. Let me tell you there is nothing better then feeling that tap, tap and rearing back to set the hook and then you feel the preasure of a good hookset. Everyone has covered the basics on here. The only thing I will add is be patient. Very patient. Don't try and fish the worm like a spinner or crankbait. It needs to be slow 99% of the time. Unless you drop that worm right in front of an angry or hungry bass, you have to work the worm back to you slow. And don't get in a set rhythm either. twitch it, shake it, lift it off the bottom, reel it. Change up the retrieve. And don't be afraid to let it sit on the bottom for up to 30 seconds or so. Slowing down is the hardest thing to do, even for me and I have been fishing plastics for a long time. Good luck

Best Bass Angler of all time
I think they should take Clun and Martin and put them on an undisclosed lake they have never been to. Give them 8 hours a day for 3 days and let them fish to determine the winner. Great TV ratings!!!!
