  1. This could be a downside to making a decent living fishing nationally and selling products... When a company tells you to market something and you are under contract with them, there's a good chance that you are going to listen and fall in line to feed your family. These guys aren't holding a press conference and telling their feelings on this commercial, they are trying to sell a product. My guess is (even if the commercial sucks) the product will still sell. After all of the replies, I didn't watch the commercial. If it deeply concerns you about how the sport is being "portrayed" then send an email to Berkley or PureFishing. With that said, one of the things that attracted me to fishing is the fact that "most" folks who do it are pretty humble and down right accepting so I'm not just plain disagreeing. I really, really hope this doesn't make anyone mad, just trying to give a different point of view in the fact that sometimes when something becomes our job we are borderline forced by contract to do or say things that don't 100 percent represent our personal feelings.
  2. Send me a PM about your local lakes lip ripper.
  3. Yup, I'm about 20 minutes from the main launch. Stay on the Delta, no seriously, not joking. I fished 2 events at the Delta this past year, fished probably 6 days there. We weighed 25lbs one day with an 8.5 kicker, granted I had a lot of help from the man in the front of the boat who is a bit of a stud haha, but still! Folsom can be fun, still I honestly fish there a lot because it's my backyard, I have a lot of fun fishing all the different lakes we have near us!
  4. 4, You're killin' me! It was at a lil' ol' lake I live next to named Folsom. It sucks and I'm not joking haha. Never caught anything over 8 and a half at Clear Lake. Get excited out there on that Delta, with some warm days things could get really fun, really fast! Sorry it took so long, I forgot I posted over here!

    Very cool!
  6. Awesome, if you're anything like me you'll love it and it'll be hard to put down for a couple trips! Have fun!
  7. I personally think P-line Halo is very manageable.
  8. Personally, I went with the dx744 and it is (imo) the best jig rod I have ever used on lakes. I throw my jigs from 1/4-1oz on this rod model only. I can't tell you enough good things about it. I can't tell you as much about the 784 ML as I don't actually own it, I have fished it a few times and it seemed a bit softer. I know David P owned both and will probably be by to answer your comparison questions much better. As far as my recommendation it would be the 744 as I can't imagine a better rod for jigs, especially 3/8-3/4 as that's what I throw the majority of the time.
  9. 3:16 lure company Wake Jr.
  10. Just to reassure you about the 734 being a broomstick, the 736 is pretty close to a broomstick and there is actually a 735 in between the two so the 734 is pretty far from it. I think you'd be pleased with a 734 in either series, like David said it comes down to personal finances. Enjoy the rod!
  11. Depends where we're at, lot's of bodies of water out here and a lot of them can fish very different. I've been catching them well on a tube, jigs, some rippin, dartheads and a few on dropshot. Couple swimbait fish thrown in and a few on a blade.
  12. 6-10 on deck, may carry more in the boat. As a co-angler I don't go over 5.
  13. For the two things you mentioned I would recommend the 765 personally. This rod is very versatile for me and I feel that it would be for anyone.
  14. To my memory they are great!
  15. I dunno if that was sarcastic but I LOVED truebass. If you wanted to learn how to fish they showed you just about as specific as possible.
  16. I knew that was coming, you can't see in the pic but my left hand is on the fishes backside to take weight off her jaw.
  17. I agree with Fish Chris! Take a look at our photos for a nice visual!
  18. As far as a read goes, not instructional, I LOVED sowbelly I was so entertained by that book, especially Bob Crupi's part... Just awesome in my eyes.
  19. In my opinion you're crazy to mention a fishing show on a message board or forum since everyone seems to like different stuff. You'll get a few people that like it and most people will complain about it. I wish there were more fishing shows period. I'd rather watch fishing than just about anything else on TV. And if it's a local guy on it, I'm happier to watch it that way. I know I was really excited when Jarrett Edwards got his own show.

  21. I'm not sure if you have the opportunity in your area, but since you seem somewhat open to brands the Dobyns 764rm is a great crankbait rod for what you mentioned. I realize it is slightly out of your price range so I apologize if it's too much, but for me it's a great rod for the baits you mentioned.
  22. My new favorite is P-line Halo. I used Berkley and it is good line but it does have high memory and high(er) stretch. One thing to note is the Berkley is a little stronger for it's rating, however it is VERY thick as well, it's good line but I prefer the Halo personally.
  23. David covered it for you, the only thing I would add is I use mine for some of my smaller swimbaits on lakes. The rod has an interesting action and personally I LOVE it.
  24. How much is it to ship a rod? Here's the deal, I'm not trying to sell you a rod but I have a BPS crankin stick that is a few years old now that I really haven't used much at all. It's a 7' model in I believe M power I'll have to double check. I don't know how expensive it is to ship but well, Christmas is right around the corner. Why don't you PM me after someone gives a price on shipping a rod and we'll talk about your Christmas present from an absolute stranger... k?
  25. Work harder. Want to learn how to become a pro? Look up Takahiro Omori and that will give you an idea of a path... Ask yourself if the sacrifices would be worth it. I'm definitely part of a "younger" generation and I HATE the fact that everyone around me seems to say they "love" this or that they "want" that. Work Harder.
