  1. Didn't see where someone asked that question in this thread previously, sorry. Let me preface this by saying, I'm not saying the Curado is going to be effectively worth $30 more than the Curado at retail. I was just trying to say, there have always been minor differences and a high(er) cost difference between the Citica and Curado so I don't really see why everyone is so surprised with this one, maybe I'm just missing something. From what I can see: The Line Guide Insert is a different material. Spool is a different color, likely a different material (usually that's the case, or has been in the past). That's all my blind eye can see, I haven't handled a Citica yet myself.
  2. Thanks for the review and the couple follow ups, that's cool!
  3. Not trying to be rude, but hasn't Shimano always done this? Anyone remember the Citica E, or the Citica D, or the Citica G or the Citica bantam? They were just a different color and minor changes as well. Same ol same ol guys.
  4. They both seem to do ok for me.
  5. Personal favorite is Tatula Type R 8:1. There are a lot of good strong options on the market now and DVT covered what counts.
  6. Do any of you guys who have one also own a Savvy, or in the past owned a Savvy?

I have a 7" and after getting a 9" bait, I hardly use the 7". They are awesome though and the bites you get will have you throwing it for hours. haha Hope you love them as much as me!
  8. Also, maybe try a 3/8 oz chatterbait... it may become your new favorite "squarebill"
  9. You have grass... throw it around the grass.... use braid if you have to, and rip it out when it stops "vibrating". Should be fun after you get the hang of it.
  10. The second one sounds like a guide problem? Were you able to identify the guide that was causing the fraying? That's a cheaper fix than replacing a rod.
  11. I'm basically that way! Highest quality rods I can get, but I think the cutoff (for my feeling) is about the 200$ price point on reels. I just don't think the reels priced higher than that make THAT MUCH of a difference for me. So I feel your "problem" haha
  12. 734. I'm not concerned about casting compared to hooking and landing a fish. Just my way of doing things. Of those mentioned, I would go with a 734 no question. I am also a big fan of the 7'3 rods.
  13. I'm going to re-write that for them and say "to feel the action of your chatterbait better, use braid". I use two types of line... for light grass and just about any cover I go between 16lb-20lb sniper. For heavy grass I use 70lb braid (daiwa samurai). If I'm concerned about visibility of line I will put on a leader of 15-20lb fluoro. The other option I will go with if I'm kind of being lazy is just 15 lb mono.
  14. Nothing wrong with changing your mind after a while of fishing something. Sounds like you still like parts of the design of the rod, maybe just a problem with your personal experience as far as durability and the warranty not going as you'd planned. I'm not familiar with their warranty, do they have a replacement warranty if you break it and it's your fault?
  15. It is about the way you say things... and more importantly the way YOU WERE RESPONDED TO. I am willing to bet I would be able to get this thread locked within 3 posts haha... Trust me man, I wish they wouldn't have deleted your posts on that one (or anyone else's) but I think they're just doing what the think is best.
  16. Dobyns 705cb graphite is my personal favorite!
  17. Makes perfect sense if that is the way you learned! I bet you are plenty accurate with it too! I know I'm not the most accurate when I do it so I usually save it for reaction baits or very open water when I'm tired haha.
  18. I do something similar that I call my "lazy cast" (no offense) when I don't want to take my left hand off the reel, but I put my right hand on the butt section of the rod. Interesting thread.
  19. Dobyns 705cb (graphite) Shimano Citica E or Daiwa Tatula 7:1 15lb Maxima mono or 55lb Daiwa samurai Lucky Craft BDS or Strike King Mustad short shank triple grips
  20. I fish mine on a DOBYNS 806cb. Haha, just giving you a hard time man. I think a 7'6" heavy will be good for it! They're a really fun bait, have fun with it!
  21. I think Evintos covered it well... and a couple other posters. I had a buddy who this was happening to... I think what he was doing was not FULLY pulling out a backlash before reeling over it... if that makes sense. Sharp corners on line weaken it far too much.
  22. Do you have a price range you're trying to stay within?
  23. I had an STX.... For me, the reel did a good job, I just couldn't make it comfortable to fish with. The gearbox hung below my rod handle and the way I palm a reel, it just was not comfortable for me at all. I began to question durability in the long term as well. I think the Gen 2 revos were the best abu will ever make under a 300$ price point personally.
  24. Curado I or the Tatula/Tatula Type R. Both reels are awesome, try to handle the Tatula beforehand to make sure you're comfortable with it as the shape and cast control knob are bothersome for some folks. The tatula is a "wider" shape, where the curado is a "longer", narrower shape. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either, which is pretty cool.
  25. http://www.insideline.net/index.php/equipment/628-gary-dobyns-making-the-perfect-rod-part-i This article gives some info on the materials used. If what you're looking for is the "modulus rating" I'm not sure where that may be found. Also, the manufacturing takes place in Korea.
