  1. I cant help you in Orlando, but if you are ever in Quebec Canada I would be happy to bring you fishing. I think the service you & your family have given has made North America a better place to be. Thank You
  2. I think perception is everything,if you tell them stories about drinkingall day & farting around with your buddy, they will think of fishing as a redneck passtime on the other hand if you talk about how great sunrise looks on a lake, or the look on your childs face whn he/she caught their first fish paople will think of you as hobbyist with a love for nature. it is all perseption.....take it from me, a proud Canadian who could'nt know anything about fishing becouse I'm burried in snow all year!lol
  3. Welcome! you say you are bew to bass fishing, have you fished much for other types of fish?
  4. you would be better off buying a float tube, much more durable & safe
  5. the H2O is a great unit, the only problem is the screen size. I have poor vision & needed a larger screen, I bought a Lorence XOG crossover, I also added fishing hot spots SD card. what I find amazing with this unit is that I can sit at home the day befor fishing and plan my trip from start to finish (street directions & set weighpoints of areas I want to fish) all in gps + software cost me about $300
  6. practice, practice, practice..& then practice some more, practice untill you develope a level of confidence that will allow you to "will" the fish into the boat! "practoce...practice....are we talking about practoce?"
  7. thanks for the advice guys! I just finished & it looks awesome! I glued & biscuit jointed 2 pieces of 3/4" marine plywood, then sealed it with 4 coats of spar varnish. I think it should last a long time....but in case it does'nt I made a second one at the same time! at least if this one only lasts a few years, it will only take me a couple of hours to pop the next one in.
  8. hey UPS Vt, what part of champlain do you live near? I will PM you the next time I get out that way. I just bought a boat last year, befor that I also fished in a canoe, better than fishing from shore but not not the same as fishing in a boat.
  9. what are you talking about hjerk24, its like I keep telling every one THERE ARE NO FISH IN LAKE CHAMPLAIN! its got to be the best kept secret in noth america
  10. Yeah....... thats how he gets you, it starts of being cheap. then you get into it & WHAM!!! THE BAIT MONKEY JUMPS OUT AND BITES YOU IN THE WALLET! then you decide you need a boat....lets not go there
  11. this is a great site for those of us who love fishing! wecome abord!
  12. I have a 16ft alluminium center console, it was built in 1985. I guess 25 years is a resonable amount ot time for wood to last on the water, it has gotten quite soft ( the wood in the transom). it looks pretty straight forward, take out all the scews- remove the old wood- make a template out of cardboard- cut the shape out of plywood-use waterproof glue to 2 pieces of 3/4 ply to achive the correct thickness- replace screws ( I am planning on sealing screws with waterproof silicone) am I missing anything? any advice or opinions would be great!
  13. I am planning on fishing lake champlain around Hwy2, (felixburg NY-north Hero Vt) do I need to buy fishing permits from both states? A friend of mine told me that you only need one or the other. Does anyone know?
  14. "SHOULD i GO FISHING TODAY?" I went out this morning & drilled a hole through 2feet of ice, for a chance of cathing some crappies & rock bass! You wanna know if you should go out today? HELL YA! FISH FOREST FISH! that being said, I hope you have a great day on the water
  15. I think it is a awesome idea! I have been fishing for a long time, but I would still be interested in something like this just to get a different veiwpoint. once you got a reasonable customer base, you could start a club for clients, this would be a cool concept in franchising! good luck & have fun with it
  16. Happy to hear nobody was injures! that being said, it is a good idea to inspect/greese your trailer every spring. just currius, the law here(Montreal, Canada) is that you must have a working spare for a trailer. The police will stop you if they don't see one, what are the laws in your state?
  17. I know exactly how u feel, my home lake is currently covered with 150 inches of snow!! bass season doesn't open till 3rd week of June. "live to fish.......work to feed the bait monkey!"
  18. ok so we are not going to talk about loosing O/B motors! my brother & I went out Musky fishing one day, I had just bought a hand crafted, custom painted mega lure. $58, so I was sitting there tying on & shooting the s@@t with my bro, checked my knot,,,, nice looking knot... threw the lure in the water.... picked up my pole.....that is when I realized....I had tied on to a scap piece of line, I thuew a $58 lure overboard without ever even casting it!!! well thats my dumba$$ story, hope you all have a great day.
  19. I love them, they may be more expencive, but I find my plastics don't get chewed up so much. so the extra you pay for screw ins save u $ in plastics KEEP YOUR HOOKS SHARP & TOUR BEER COLD!
  20. it is so cool to be sitting at home chating about fishing with a group of folks from all over the planet! maybe the key to world peace is to give every man a fishing rod & a bag of lures. Hello from Montreal,Canada
  21. Hey bilbil, in Quebec you might want to check out "La Reserve Beauchene" a truly amazing drive-in location, sm bass, huge northerns, and tons of wallye. its not cheap but the fishing is great. you may also want to think about Vermont, lake champlain has some real good fishing for bass, pike, trout, salmon keep your hooks sharp & your beer cold !
  22. the lakes I fish will be frozen for another 8-10 weeks!! I think I will have to keep a look out on this site, maybe take a trip to Champlain for some sping largemouth!
  23. I have had a great deal of success using a "tiny torpeedo". I use the simple patterns at first(blue&silver, gold & green ect..) then I will change to a frog pattern when the water warms up. Rule #1-fish it slow!
