  1. Great post ernel! thanks
  2. Thank you Raul for taking the time to share your knowledge! Much appreciated
  3. The fastest and safest way, for the fish at least, is just to cut the hook if it's buried to deep or taking to long to get out. You can replace trebles, not fish though. Heavy duty hook cutters can be found at any sporting good store usually.
  4. Gc dont feel bad, I thought the exact same thing! Oscars not a bad name for a fish anyways
  5. That's a very good question! I guess for me I use a certain lure for certain situations and if that doesn't work I switch spots and technique. Example, if I am fishing docks, I'll use a 6'' curly tail. If they don't bite that than they're not there. Or maybe, I'll use a spinnerbait up in some reeds and if they're not hitting in the reeds, I'll try a slow retrieve in the open water adjacent to the reeds. So yea, I would say that you can over throw a bait. You just have to kick yourself and move on to different spots and or techniques
  6. That was a great show. I loved how excited he got when he was just sittin' there talking and that hawg nailed his jerkbait.
  7. I like In fisherman since I fish a variety of species. I will say though, their mag's seem to get thinner and thinner each year, not sure what's up with that :-/
  8. Yea Gander plans to have a catalog and online site in 2006. Right now they are in a legal battle over name rights so who knows how that will play out.
  9. Hey, what the?? Last time I checked the Lure eyes were $89 for each pair..I better get some quick I guess!
  10. I just ordered a Cabelas master catalog, I am not sure what you mean they don't offer one?
  11. Don't use trailer hooks but I will use a plastic trailer sometimes to help keep the bait up top easier. When I am working a spinnerbait deep I do not use a trailer as I seem to get short strikes with them.
  12. I'm so into frogs right now I am tempted to go out and buy the Loomis Frog rod, made just for throwing frogs...Now I just need to work up $200.. :
  13. Hello, welcome to the numero uno bass site! P.S. I love Strats too, Tele's also
  14. Oh and you guys that said you go by trees. Only do this if you have to and take cover under the smallest trees available. I really don't know the exact reason but if you're next to tall objects you're at a much higher risk. I'm not trying to preach to you guys, I just want everyone to be as fully aware of lighting risks as possible.
  15. Heres my advice, and I know of alot of dead fisherman due to absolute poor judgement. You hear thunder, you're at risk. Lighting can strike anywhere up to about 25 {even farther at times} miles from the original source, so no, the old "count seconds after you hear a boom" is not an accurate assesment. Like I said, let's say you hear a boom far away, you figure, oh it's far away were safe, well you're not. Lighting itself is static electricity grounding itself, so it does not care how far away you are, it will find you. You are correct in that when you're on a lake, YOU are the highest point in the area, there is no "safe" method like keeping your rods low, the boat itself is the highest point. But, let's say somehow you get caught in a storm. What you should do is kneel down in the boat, do not lay down, and absolutely make sure you're not in contact with any electrical devices. Make sure none of your body is touching even the smallest metal screw, as this is what caused a man to die a few years back. One freaking screw allowed lighting to pass through this guys head, he was dead immediately. You're best bet when you hear or see lighting. Go to shore, kneel down, again don't lay down, and sit as still as possible. Lighting is my truest fear, I play no games with mother nature. No fish is worth dying over. Usually more than 100 people a year die of lighting strikes in the USA...not so rare as they say it is...Please be safe guys, please.
  16. Yea it's crazy, every single day I check thhe "newest member"' icon and there is a new member everyday or every other day. Growing very fast!!!

  18. L-B-H is a big boy, he can handle his own. But in his defense, I believe he was more interested in getting involved with the kids. I don't think it has anything to do with getting free baits. Maybe I am wrong but L-B-H is one heck of a human being and he constantly goes out of his way to help others so I just can't bear it to see him get bad mouthed :-[ But guys, please don't make Glenn close this thread, keep it friendly!
  19. I would think cheesedogs would be the best.... "When fish bite, they get an irresistable squirt of processed cheesewiz and won't let go!!!"....ahhh, I can see the ad's now...
  20. When this happens I use a double hook harness, usually does the trick for me at least.
  21. L-B-H, Since when is saying your opinions "being a jerk" . Nothing any of you have said is jerky, it's just how you all feel. I too, am a value hunter, if I can get the same results and save a few bucks than more power to me heh! But, ya know, I will say this thread reminds me of those Energizer bunny commercials....it just keep's going....and going...lol, nah, I kid, I kid :-X
  22. ooops, double post...dang 420 club...
  23. I think he means a paddleboat, could be wrong though.
  24. Hmm..scratch that..I read a sample but I still don't see any similarities between rod's post and the writings...
