  1. First off get your self a good map. The river has a ton of hazards up and down it from barges, pilings, rocks, etc. Most of the major creeks produce fish year round. The main structure is grass but you can find good wood, pilings, docks, marinas, riprap. Remember the river is tidal so the fish are always moving up and down during the day. I prefer moving baits like spinners and cranks pretty much year round, but you can thrown anything when you find some fish. Jigs, plastics, swimbaits, etc.. Once the summer heats up, you can really catch them on top water pretty much all day long.
  2. You should really be fine. Deep Creek is only 3500 acres so it does not hold really big boats like you find on the big lakes in the south. Mostly you will see pontoons, water-skier boats, and jet skis. It will be crowded that weekend for sure, but there are plently of creeks and coves for you to hide in. That time of year you try to find some shallow wood, stumps, laydowns, and brush hanging into the water. If you go left from the State Park boat ramp, keep going along the shore until you go under a bridge. That is a good area where no boat traffic will bother you
  3. I would suggest anything small, light, and something you can move slow. A 1/16 weighted senko or just a small grub or tube. Most plastics can typically work, but you need to move it sloooow.... And you need to be near fish too because they will not move to far to eat the bait.
  4. 5/16 Jewel Jig Texas Craw with a 3" Warrior Craw trailer green pumpkin!!
  5. I love an Eakins Jig. I have been trailing them with a 3" Warrior Craw in green pumpkin. It keeps the jig compacy but the claws give off a ton of vibration.
