  1. Haven't been out since early July... Grrrrrr
  2. The Warrior Baits buzzbait has been doing it for me all year. In the past I would only throw a Cavitron due to the holes in the prop which give it a great sound. In addition to the holes in the blade, the Warrior also includes a clacker for more sound. PLUS, it has what I call a 'planing board.' It's is pretty much a spinner bait blade mounted to the shaft that keeps the bait running flat.
  3. I too use all the above baits. However, I put a split-ring on the baits. I use one that fits snug around the bait and run the hook through the ring. It helps me catch more fish on the bait before it rips.
  4. Recently, my Curado started squeaking when I reel it in. I had it maintained ts when the squaking started. I have cleaned it a couple more times, oiled, etc. I think it might some kind of dam on the edge of the spool. Any ideas before I start ordering new parts for it?
  5. On the same topic of trailer lights. Over the weekend I replaced my burnt out driver's side break light/turn signal. When I pulled out of the driveway everything was working. When I stopped at the gas station, I noticed the turn signals were not working. I jiggled the wire, literally with one finger and ALL the trailer lights went out I went around the trailer and reconnected all the lights and splices to my rear and running lights. Now, only the break lights, turn signals, and emergency flashers work. The rear lights will not run when they are on and no running lights work. I checked all the fuses in my GMC Trailerblazer and they are good. Is it possible that the adapter from my truck to the boat has blown? Any suggestions??
  6. I would just say it's exposure. Its a different type of outlet aside from TV or print media. Look at NASCAR. They have thousands of non-racing sponsors.
  7. Spoke to tackle dealer a few weeks ago. He said RI was going through some issues with their materials supplier and they wouldnt be producing any BMFs until late in the year. I have not been able to find any online....
  8. I run a G3 Eagle 165 with a 40HP Yamaha. I love it. The front deck is gigantic and the rod locker can hold up to 12-7' rods. There is a ton of space on the boat. I highly recommend checking out a G3.
  9. The lake is a great fishery. It can be hard in the summer once the grass chokes out the bank. There are bunch of good shore fishing areas around the Rt 188 Bridge and in the vicinity of the boat ramp.
  10. Just throw your confidence baits. Whatever you feel you can always catch a fish on, throw it. Do not waste time re-tying a lot, keep you line in the water as much as possible. Also, do not try to copy the pro, rather, unless you are fishing an open area like a grass bed where you can throw whatever he is and catch fish. Otherwise, try to pick up what he is missing. Make casts to areas that he is not. Also remember, you have all day for 5 bites. Be patient and you will catch.
  11. I need a Non-Boater for July 11 BFL Potomac. It can be one or either or both. Email me at Eligolfer@hotmail.com
  12. This is a good thread. I fished club tournaments for many years out of a 16.5' G3 with a 40Hp. It is tournament ready, but I never entered a large tournament like a BFL or BASS Weekend Series in it. However, that will change in June. After attempting to be a Co-Angler for the past couple of years, I realized that I need my boat. I put in a lot of time on the water and know how and where to catch the fish. I mainly fish the Potomac and I can run where I want, it might just take a while. For years I thought my boat was too slow, didn't have enough range, and the gets a little wet in a rough ride. BUT OH WELL. I made the decision to go as boater last weekend and this thread just helped reinforce it. I also didn't want to upset any co-anglers who go paired with me, but OH WELL. If we are catching fish, then there are no excuses. Thanks for the thread guys!!
  13. You can fish between River Rd and the main river. Its pretty easy to walk along and fish. Lots of wood along the banks. You can also go down Berryville Rd, just off of Seneca Road. There is an area to park and you can walk or wade a good ways to fish. Lots of smallies in that area.
  14. Send me an email at eligolfer@hotmail.com if you would like to link for the tounament. Thank you.
  15. A jig and pig is any jig with a pork chunk. It could be a hair jig, buck tail, or plastic skirt. With all the new trailer types and plastic craws on the market there these days, I do not anyone who uses pork anymore. I typically fish a "jig-n-craw," but lingo is different anywhere you go. I ran into a guy the other day throwing a 'pig-n-jig'... A finesse jig it just a down-sized jig.
  16. I was pegging 1oz tungsten weights with a toothpick on 50lb and 65lb braid until I broke some fish off. I started using those black, rubber inserts used for mojo rigging. Have not had a problem in years. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_30021_100010003_100000000_100010000_100-10-3
  17. Lipless crankbait Chatterbait Spinnerbait
  18. I pretty much throw them interchangeably around wood, pilings, and in the grass. If the bass wiill eat a jig, they will probably eat a beaver. Both have a large profile, but if the fish want something a little more subtle, I throw what is shown below. It's a beaver body, but has a smaller profile with the claws rather then the paddle tail. It displaces less water, but still catches big fish.
  19. Remeber, you are not out trying to find fish. You are there to catch. Throw the baits you have the most confidence in, the ones you can always count on to catch a fish. Also, make sure you keep you bait in the water, don't waste time retying new baits every few minutes.
  20. I have to two Tierra baitcasters. For the money they are great. They are very smooth, light, and can cast a mile. However, now I actually use both of them for flipping and pitching and I am very happy with them.
  21. Been using the Diawa Capricorn for 3 years now its great. Nice and smooth and doesnt get bogged down in the rain like the Shimanos have been known to do. I think they run 50-70$
  22. For deep cranking i have been using the St. Criox Triumph in 7' Medium for the past couple of years. Works great for about 60-70$
  23. First off get your self a good map. The river has a ton of hazards up and down it from barges, pilings, rocks, etc. Most of the major creeks produce fish year round. The main structure is grass but you can find good wood, pilings, docks, marinas, riprap. Remember the river is tidal so the fish are always moving up and down during the day. I prefer moving baits like spinners and cranks pretty much year round, but you can thrown anything when you find some fish. Jigs, plastics, swimbaits, etc.. Once the summer heats up, you can really catch them on top water pretty much all day long.
  24. it is an Edge 70. I've read some places that it might be the circuit board, but i have been over the schematics and take the motor apart and i cannot locate a circuit board...
  25. My Minn Kota started acting up last week. It will only run on 2 speeds, slow and fast. I ordered and replaced the speed switch, but that didn't help. Any ideas?
