Featured Replies

are the two the same thing? i allwas caled them buck tail...but i gess if it has a skirt like a spinner bait then its a jig n pig :-? and hair its a buck tail.

A jig and pig is any jig with a pork chunk.  It could be a hair jig, buck tail, or plastic skirt.  With all the new trailer types and plastic craws on the market there these days, I do not anyone who uses pork anymore.      I typically fish a "jig-n-craw," but lingo is different anywhere you go.  I ran into a guy the other day throwing a 'pig-n-jig'...

A finesse jig it just a down-sized jig.

What he said - however you can still find folks fishing pork albeit a smaller number. In my experience I like pork better - not for convenience by any stretch of the imagination, but because you don't have to keep spraying scent on it, and they'll always hang on to it because it is as real as whatever a jig is supposed to mimic!

Wow that was a great thread. I am gonna have to start jig fishing this year.
