  1. Would like thoughts on which is better deal: tour edition 11+1 bearings 99.99 energy 9+1 bearings 74.99 Will be using the 10 size on ultralight rig (6 ft rod to be picked later) Is two bearings really worth 25 bucks? I am on a tight budget so 100 is my current limit for a spinning reel. Mort
  2. I too just started fishing again after a 20 some break. There were some flatfish (gold f1 & f4), jitterbugs and torpedoes (teeny, tiny, reg) leftover from past years. I started fishing with an ultralight in the local river and those flatfish and torpedoes were sure fooling the fish. I caught smallmouth, largemouth, sunfish, perch, and trout. I used to only fish jitterbugs at night so I haven't tried them much yet. Babysit grand kids so now in my fifties I have a curfew. I get a kick out of showing people what I am using. Most have no idea what they are. I am surprised that wally world caries both the torpedoes and jitterbugs in various sizes and color schemes. Flatfish are harder to find local but most big name catalog retailers carry at least a few sizes and colors. Haven't seen the F1s anywhere. Maybe no longer made? Had a lot of luck on the rainbow color too. Those lures remind me of early days of fishing and people who are no longer fishing on this plain. mort
  3. Thanks for the links. Now I just have to decide which one of those options to use. Did not realize how popular kayak fishing was or how much you could do with them. Mort
  4. I have a Perception Swifty that I am trying to convert to a fishing boat. I am wanting to know where to mount a pulley for an anchor. Do you attach it to bow or stern? Is there a wrong place to mount? I will be using it on slow current rivers and small lakes. On lakes do you use a drift sock where to deep to anchor? Any advice would be helpful. Mort
  5. Interesting survey. Will you be posting the results on this site? morts10
  6. How do you store senkos and other baits with salt added? If I take them out of the factory packing will this hurt them? Will they draw or hold moisture in my tacklebox? I have a Plano tacklebox with removable boxes and there is not alot of room for bait packaging. If I can store in slots in boxes will allow for more baits (colors, ect..) and less boxes overall. Like to tailor tackle load for type of fishing that day. Can you store these baits already rigged? Used to have several colors/ sizes rigged but old soft plastic worms did not have salt. I am getting back into the sport after a 20 year haitus. Grandkids are expressing an interest and I need to update my knowledge base. This forum has been an eye opener about advances in the sport of bass fishing but I had not seen this covered. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. Mort
  7. Great fish!! Glad to see pictures of fish with fisherman in background wearing their life jackets. Around here we lose a couple every year and its good to see people lead by example. Would like to remind bank fisherman and waders that its cool to wear them also. Again Beautiful fish.
  8. "Hold? hold! I'll tell them what to hold!!"
