  1. i am looking to replace trebles of some of my crank baits. I do not have enough of the 2Xshort EWG's to replace both trebles on each one... so....if I was going to leave one of the originals on......would you put the 2Xshort EWG on the front or back of the crank bait? specifically 1.5 & 2.5 square bills thanks..
  2. neko rig is my new favorite finesse technique...I like more of a finesse style worm.. Reaction Innovations flirt, Grande Bass air tail, Gene Larew tattle tail if I had to use a stick bait... I would use 5" over a 4"
  3. true.....but what are your alternatives?? it looks good on the tips of the claws of a green pumpkin craw.
  4. I know it's not as good as JJ's....but since JJ's doesn't come in black... I do have some Spike-it in black...
  5. I have seen video's showing the hook....both ways.....point up and point down. which way is best/preferred??
  6. thanks for the feedback..... I think i'll get 2-3 w/chartreuse and 2-3 shad color.....
  7. I want to get in to deep diving crankbaits this year. by deep...I mean....20ft + question.....does color matter? I know water clarity plays in to this.....but at 20ft+......does color really matter? and if you think it does.....what color(s) do you prefer? right now I'm looking at the Dredger series from Berkley thanks....
  8. my thought exactly.. The set up is a 7' mhf shimano clarus with a daiwa rg 2500 spooled with 30lb 832 i may just end up trying to find a decent rod and reel for about 200 trying to avoid doing that but that what it may come to that setup will be fine.
  9. Siebert Outdoors Dredge shaky head with the Owner Deep Throat hook.....hook up is second to one.. I use a Zoom mag shaky head worm most of the time
  10. jointed jitterbug...... no need to "set the hook"....you'll feel the pressure
  11. by far the best shaky head I have used is made by Mike at Siebert's Outdoors (a sponsor here) and a great guy. the Dredge shaky head with the Owner deep throat hook. it has the spring coil you want, any weight you may need and that awesome owner hook. you can't beat them..imo. I throw mine on a spinning set up with 8lb fluoro.
  12. The quality seems ok. Just seem a bit too big ideally for smallmouth. ?
  13. I have a couple of the 90 size.....just bought the 130 size. it seems the hooks are almost too big. especially for smallmouth (which is where I'm going to be using it, on St, Clair next week) what are your guys thoughts on downsizing the hooks for smallies? thanks...
  14. that's awesome!! great fish..
  15. i moved from IN to OH last year....and i can without a doubt say that IN is much better than OH...i moved from Bloomington, IN to Cincy area... this is my 2nd year fishing in the OH club after 8 years in 2 different clubs in IN give me Patoka, Geist, OH river(Rocky Point), White River, even Monroe over OH's Rocky Fork, East Fork, Grand Lake (St Mary's) or Indian i am not saying IN is easy/great by any means....i also thought that IN was tough but...in my experience, OH is much tougher... i think that whereever we live, we think the grass is greener elsewhere.
  16. Top 3 topwater I use at dusk, dawn and in night tournaments. Change the hooks, add split rings and a drop of super glue when putting the little screws back in.
  17. i just upgraded my PFD...thanks to my wife. she looked at the one i had. and asked..."how much did you spend on some of your rods?"...answer $180. and "how much on some of your reels?"...answer $120.....and "how much did you spend on your lifejacket?"...uh, $25. well.....you know that didn't sound very smart did it? so now i own a Cabela's Guidewear auto-inflate rated at 35lb. it was $169 on sale for $118 last month. super comfortable and glad i bought it. my wife is awesome!! seriously, when she put things in perspective....how dumb was I?
  18. Thanks for the heads up on how it should be handled. I appreciate it.
  19. so.. i called them direct and spoke to Will. he also mentioned the MEK and that the formula has MEK in it. after talking to him for a little bit, he asked for my address and said he would send me a small bottle with some MEK in it. if i get it...that would be great customer service. i'll post back here if i do.
  20. one of my favorite baits...and it will catch big fish too...iv'e caught plenty of 3-4lb'ers on that bait. it is a great river bait. my favorite color is greenpumpkin magic. i texas rig it with a 1/0 or 2/0 ewg and usually 3/16oz. i agree that you need a little more than 1/8oz to get better action..
  21. i have the glass bottle...stored in my house...in my fishing room..cool and dry...only used it maybe 6-8 times... ugh!! gotta say it does work, just would like to have been able to use it more..
  22. my bottle of mend it....has gelled and is unusable. has anyone else had this happen? or, what do you think i could do to make it usable? it is a little over a year old and has been stored inside my house....it has not been subject to heat or cold. thanks...
