  1. of course it's unethical, if that's what happened. But how do you know it happened. If I'm in a tournament, then I would be concentrating on myself and not following around another boater. And I am surely not going to worry about hearsay from other anglers. If there wasn't any rules broken then there's not much that can be done.
  2. I wish I could remember where I saw the study. but several years ago DNR did a study on this subject on the chesapeake bay. Bass were released several miles away from where they were caught. The majority of bass went back to their original location.
  3. browsing can be very fun until you start adding up all the costs with the accessories. And after you think you figured out the cost then add a few thousand.
  4. call out sick. you have to have priorities.
  5. I like the idea and will try this weekend
  6. Not much need for preperation, all my stuff stays on the boat. A typical outing consist of hitting up my usual spots and trying to put together a good bag. I fish a couple of areas for a few hours, maybe 3 or 4 and then spend a couple of hours searching and fishing new areas. I almost always spend time fishing a technique that I'm not comfortable with.

  8. I've been thinking about trying out the quantum kvd tour reel. $300 is alot of money. I've been looking, but I don't see them on sale and don 't see alot of them on ebay. Are these reels worth the money? Who has them and what are your thoughts?
  9. why are the glass fuses a problem?
  10. yes. they'll strike at something that doesn't fit in their mouth.
  11. If you just want to learn how to weld, go to a welding school. You don't have to join a union to learn how to weld. Unions will teach you a trade. But before you join a union do your research. From my past experiences I will not join a union. I will not have my money go to support dems. I think its disgraceful how they treat other non union trades on a jobsite. I never understood why one trade, say a pipefitter wasn't allowed to work on a piece of steel becuase it should be worked on by an ironworker, eventhough that steel was holding pipe. I know alot of union guys who get layed off 6 months out of the year. It all depends who you know. Unions are not the same as they used to be. Unions do have there benefits though, slightly higher pay, a pension that may or may not be there, and it's very difficult to get fired. Good luck no matter what you choose. It's tough out there.
  12. thats going to be tough dragging around a cooler full of water and fish plus your gear.
  13. been a member for many years. Just a little dissapointed in how small the mag has gotten over the years. but good stuff for the most part and I fish the opens. there's something nice about sittin back and reading from a mag.
  14. won't leave home without the thermo cell.
  15. at what point is it considered power loading and you getting a ticket? Is powerloading considered using any amount of throttle to get the boat up on trailer. Just wondering, because at some ramps i have to really gun it and others the boat just about drifts on depends on angle of ramp.
  16. This may be true but this is not the case for me. I haven't spent more than probably three or four hundred dollars so far this year. And probably spent less than that last year. yup thats what i tell my wife
  17. i think you have to spend $1000 a year to be a preferred member.
  18. I recently bought the stowmaster. I had a hard time convincing myself to pay that much money on a net, but after i tried some other collapsable nets in the store and they fell apart in my hands, it was an easy decision.
  19. its very easy to get in as a coangler and there is still time to get in on this years tournament. all you have to do is sign up, first come first serve. if you sign up as a pro You may be put on a waiting list to see if more coanglers sign up.they have to have the same amount of pros and cos.
  20. cast a small soft plastic lure, like a curly tail grub or tube past the bass then bring the lure in over its back and drop it on it's nose. don't allow the line or lure to touch the fishes body as you bring it over its back.
  21. tried a new transducer today and that solved the issue. the cable was getting pinched when i would take up the trolling motor and lay it down.
  22. the transducer is mounted to the tm. I will check for any pinch points. thanks for the ideas.
  23. if bass weren't thriving, there wouldn't be people making a living off of bass fishing, and there wouldn't be so many tournaments in just about every state every other weekend. And, I do believe that tournament anglers have done more good to the fishery by education and promoting catch and release. Sure I wish I could go out fishing and be the only one on a lake but thats not gonna happen. You have to learn to deal with the jetskiers and other anglers.
  24. I have a cheap lowrance x96 fishfinder up front on the boat that ocasionally stops working. The screen stays on and the depth number flashes. It seems that its no longer receiving a single from the transducer. It lasts for a few minutes and then starts working again. I've tried turning the unit off and on and playing with settings but nothing seems to work. It does it in all depths and running the trolling motor doesn't seem to affect it. Is there a way to test the unit or transducer before going out and buying a new one, or is that what I get from going cheap on the unit.
