  1. Here are some of the first screen shots from my 798. I haven't messed with the settings very much, so I imagine they don't look as good as they could. I wanted to get some opinions/advice on how they look, or what I need to do to make them look better. Thanks
  2. Well what a coincidence. Me and my dad also have a 3.5hp merc. We took it out and really ran it tonight for the first time and it is doing the exact same thing. This is only the second time we have used it. The only thing we could think is it is overheating somehow too.
  3. Nope. Missouri is year round too.
  4. 1. I have never fished with a Senko, so I want to add this to my arsenal and have it become an effective bait for me. 2. Learn everything there is to know about my new 798ci si. 3. I also want to really work on my crankin' this year. 4. Be able to consistently out fish my dad.
  5. I can not imagine spending $500 on one rod. Crazy!
  6. That's funny, but some how appropriate. Safety first!!!!! ;D
  7. I was finally able to get my 798 out for the first time yesterday but I was only able to play around with it for a couple of hours. One thing that I didn't do that I wish I did was bring the owners manual with me. It was information overload for me, so my suggestion to you is to bring that little book of knowledge with you the first few times you get it out on the water. I know I will bring it along next time.
  8. I got to take my new core 50mg out for the first time this weekend and was shocked at how well it casted. It will launch a 5" weightless senko a mile and half. I haven't caught anything on it yet, so I don't know how it handles a fish, but I'm sure it will preform just fine. I have never fished with a steez so I can't coment on that reel.
  9. Love em. Just bought 3 more last week.
  10. Would this rod be good for traps too? Thanks
  11. Is there a reason you are suggesting the 6'6 instead of a 7' or longer? I think I'm gonna buy one, but I was looking at a 7 footer and was just wondering if there was a big difference between the two. Also, at what depth do you start considering crankbaits deep divers, and what do you reccomend for a deep diver rod? Thanks
  12. I believe you are talking about the walking worm.
  13. If you're gonna be throwing topwater a lot the one you definitely shouldn't get is the St. Croix...it is very tip heavy and uncomfortable imo. I got a really good deal on a 7' heavy action imx and I paired it with my chronarch 100d7, it is really light and balanced out really well. My vote is for the imx out of those, but I am sure there are much better options out there.
  14. BPS makes pistolgrips in that length. I used to have a couple 5' 6" Bionic Blades.
  15. So you think a 5.0 is a must for all types of cranks? Even shallow? I think I'm gonna use my 6.2 for my shallow and medium set up and at some point buy a 5.0 for the deep divers. I know it's not a good idea to use a high gear ratio on the deep divers, but I didn't think it was as big of deal to use a higher gear ratio for the shallow and medium divers since it's a matter of tourqe and not speed.
  16. Oh yeah, I almost forgot about the Walking Worm too.
  17. Banjo Minnow has got to be mine too, but a previous poster said he didn't like the helicopter lure, but I had a ton of luck with that thing. I still buy them whenever I see one pop up.
  18. spinner baits
  19. So for shallow to mid. cranks (2-8ft) you should use a medium power, medium/moderate action rod? For deep divers (10ft and deeper) you should use a medium heavy, medium/moderate action? Also, is a 5.?:1 really nessasary for shallow to mid. cranks? I have a Bantam Chronarch 100 that is 6.2: 1 that seems to work well for me with my traps and shallow cranks.
  20. I think you're right, it just doesn't feel right to me. I don't want to be fishing with something that I'm not completely happy with, so I think I'm gonna go ahead and take it back and get something different.
  21. I bought this rod the other day and paired it with my Chronarch 100D7 but I'm not sure if I'm gonna like it. I've heard people say the Mojo is tip heavy, but the Legend seems to be a little tip heavy also. Has anyone used this rod? If so, how is the comfort, casting, and all around performance of this rod? Did I do ok, or do I need to take it back and get something different for throwing frogs?
  22. Me and my dad just bought one and it came with a title for the boat and trailer. I'd say he dosen't have it and it trying to get over on you.
  23. I am looking to get a frog specific rod in the next week or two and I think I am leaning towards the St. Croix Mojo Slop-N-Fog. The biggest complaint I hear about these rods are that they are tip heavy, but other than that is this rod good for frogs (casting, hook setting, comfort)? I really want the Legend Tournament Slop-N-Frog, but I just can't stomach spending that much money to throw frogs, so if anyone has a good used one they want to sell cheap then let me know.
  24. I was looking for some opinions on small outboards (4-5hp). What is the best company to go with without having to break the bank? I'm looking to spend no more than $1200. I've done a little bit of research online, but haven't really been able to decide what would be the best company to go with. Thanks!
