So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Wesley, Watermelon Red Baby Brush Hog, dip the tail in chartruese spike-it. I have been catching in the bushes along the bank, not as much on isolated bushes. Better fish came off of laydowns around the brush. Very few on cypress trees. Caught in Indian Mounds coves, Islands around mouth of Sammy Gil Coves around Bison and up in Siepe. This has been in the last two weeks. I have heard of people pitching tubes, but i had plenty luck with the brush hog.

Launched at Bison yesterday morning and crossed to Siepe. Fished 9am to 6pm. Boated about 20 or so fish with 7 decent keepers, up to 3#. Missed several fish and dropped another keeper at the boat. All caught in the bushes with watermelon red baby brush hog, dipped the tail. Two fish had eggs. Did not have any luck off of the bank, but I also did not give it much time. My brother is fishing White Oak today, hope to have a report tomorrow. It will be a couple of weeks before i make it back. congrats Catt on the 9+

Fuel For Boat - $168.30 Fuel For Truck - $ 71.06 Zoom Brush Hogs - $ 19.26 Lake Level- 171 Flipping Brush while your two favorite companion's soak up the spring sun. - Priceless !! Short Report - I have been flipping bushes from Bison down to Indian Mounds and a few places in between ( Lowe's and Sammy Gil ) , catching quality fish, all on Watermelon Red Baby Brush hogs, tail dipped. Early morning bite for a couple of hours, picked back up late afternoon. I know more fish were being caught in shallow flats, however keeper fish / per hook up were more consistant for me staying in the bushes and bank shallow behind the bushes. P.S. - Topped my personal Big Bass from last year on the bend of 7.5 with a new PB of 9.1, caught 3 weeks ago in Lanana on 1/2 ounce Booyah spinner bait. Its only taken me 51 years !!! I sure do miss Jacks insite to the Carrice Creek area, I am still hunting the two little ditches he did so well in. I have increased my PB big bass the last two years by 3+ lbs, 99% of the credit goes out to all the supporters of this forum. I regret I don't have internet service at the camp, so i could report more often. Thanks again ! brother members.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
What a great trip!! Hope to be on the lake for 2pm tomorrow. I think you convinced me to go south first. How deep a crank bait you running, just on top of the grass, or you running along side the grass line. On the towing issue, I was only talking about if we were on the lake, we can post our information prior to leaving. I also live 2 hrs away. Anyway If someone needs some help this week I will be on the lake 10-3 thru morning of the 7th. cell- 337-831-4693.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
The fish were on a feeding frinzy before this front, I would guess !! I think it will take a few days to get back on a steady pattern. Nothing like a cold front and bluebird skies to make the fishing tuff!! Depending on wind conditions, probably won't decide until I get up there Monday pm. on my fishing plans. Besides Indian Mounds regular launch, is there another one south besides going around through hemphill. With the lake level at 160+ Toledo-Bend.com has Jack launch still usable, but the cut-off according to the website is 162. Any info in that area on usable ramps would be appreciated. I fish a Skeeter ZX 225 with Yamaha. White with charcoal and red pin stripe. Dont think you will see me flying anywhere, unless i am in the river. What do you guys think about starting a thread or topic with our cell numbers ( those that wish to participate ) for emergency towing, etc. on Toledo Bend. Since most of us check in regular before our trips, we could add our planned fishing dates and edit as needed. Just an idea for those that fish alone most of the time and have no family, etc. in the area. Maybe one of the moderators could set it up. Or do you guys have public contact information for emergency on the water towing, etc.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Thanks for the info - I was using the 20' rule as well on my last trip a month ago, until I ran across a few trees in the N/S lane Louisiana side in mouth of Pirates Cove, they were in 40' of water, later confirmed them on my side scan recordings. I have the updated Navionics chip and Bobby Feazels chip, so hopefully i can follow the river channel fairly easily. I know it leaves the buoy's in some places, just dont know the lake well enough. thanks again

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I will be headed that way Monday, for the week. Or you running anywhere down south. Or do you pretty much figure on idling from Indian Mounds to all points south. I was planning on fishing south at least one day. Does anyone have any updates on the launch at Penelton Harbor, Texas side. Can you still launch. Has anyone run from Penelton North to 1215 area lately ?? I know these a loaded questions, just wanted to ask anyway. What kind of crank bait are you fishing. Not much on cranks, but had to give in to them last week on Fork for the McDonalds. Read a report that 1215 area has a good bit a new hydrilla. Thanks guys. I will try and post a report in 8-10 days on my trip.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Congrat's Catt on your good finish. Unfortunatley I was stuck at work, my normal partner finished 11 the second day and 30ish overall. Shanon, I watched three days of the FLW Everstart series weigh in this weekend on Toledo Bend. Nine of the top ten boaters claimed they were sight fishing for the most part. Had to back off of the beds due to so much traffic this past weekend. Varity of plastics were used to catch them. Of course they don't always tell the truth, but most of the co-anglers confirmed this as well. I had two buddys fishing this past weekend. Top bait was a Zoom fluke, watermelon colors dipped the tail. Most of the time they fished it with a split shot a foot up the line. But did mention they had to go to a weighted hook as well. Note that the 1st place co-angler mentioned he fished this pattern all three days. One of the top ten pro's said he caught most of his fish on a Smithwick Golden Rouge. My advice would be to search the banks well ahead of the boat with the Rouge, if you get bit, usally the male, then I would proceed with caution and stealth and look for female !! Cody Bird FLW Pro said he caught four of his five limit the final day off of one stump !! FYI- The FLW tournament weigh in was live streamed on the internet. I paid close attention to what was mentioned, I wil***ishing a tournament this weekend on TB. Hope this helps some !

Checked with Toledo Tackle, they dont sale it. I was hoping to find someone selling it bulk around the lake. Read where some shops sale it for regular price first gallon, then return for refill at reduced cost.

Shakey Head Worms
Thanks, I just started fishing a drop shot last summer. I heard a shakey head can be really productive as well. I was looking to fish it some in the pre-spawn on Toledo Bend. Didn't really know the difference between Zoom Trick worms, and Finesse worms.

Spinning Reel
I have a PFlueger President spinning reel. I have problem with the bale closing on its own while starting my cast. I don't fish with spinning reels much, this is the only one i own, and have never worked on or owned another. Just wondering if i am doing something wrong, or could it be a mechanical problem. Any advice is appreciated.

Upgrade Revo's
KenG85, That's what I was looking to do. Upgrade with better parts. My reels are all less than two years old and work fine. I couldn't afford to buy all winch's, so I had to settle for a couple lower end models. I thought I read in a post that all lower end Revo's could be upgraded.

Good Drop Shot Rod

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Question: To all the experts. Decided to sink a couple of trees this past summer. I have caught descent bass on the one tree 4 out of 5 trips. My question is: I placed three trees in one spot. However one of them ended up on the creek bank, 10-12' now, and the other two down the creek bank or on bottom17-19' . I was curious if anyone had better luck on the tree tops above the structure line or break, or along the deeper side. I have caught 95% on this spot off of the shallower tree, on top of the structure line. I would like to try a few more artificial holes. Any advice, thanks.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Good call, Catt I fished those the points of those coves my last trip, picked up a few, but was searching more than fishing. How about the grass beds Texas side of James Gaines boat lanes, there was plenty of fish on them a month ago, but i didn't try last trip.
