Structure / Brush Piles
What is the most popular and safest material used in constructing your own secret deep water bass hiding place? How does one go about building them? What time of the year do you normally deploy them? How do you anchor them ? What do you look for on the map to pick spots to put them out? Do you worry that other people may have some out on that particular point or not ? Do you look for protected water as well as main lake water.

Gander Mountain and St. Croix Customer Service
I am glad someone else started this post. I was reluctant to start one on this topic. I purchased a couple of Revo's this year. And while cranking a DD22 the left side of the reel came off, hit the rail of the boat and you guessed it disappeared into the abyss. I contacted purefishing and was purchasing the parts with the operator and decided to ask if they might warranty these parts. She said that she could not authorize it, but would speak with her supervisor. Now I am on hold and thinking, this is not really their fault and theirs no way they are going to warranty these parts. Then the nice lady came back on the phone and said yes, they would make it good and said they would ship the parts tomorrow. I was really surprised ! She had asked when I purchased the reel earlier, but never once asked for a receipt. Well the parts came in and the reel is back in service. My hat's off to the custom service department at purefishing, really made me happy that my last five reels purchased this year were all Abu Garcia Revo's.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
That sounds good, I get in from offshore Wednesday. Thursday and Friday would work. Its mothers day weekend, so my wife already has tabs for the weekend. I have been staying on the Texas side Super 8 motel by the carrice creek launch. If you can send me an email, I will return the message so you will have it. That's the best way to reach me when i am at work, on days off cell phone will work.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Catt, Jack Any of you guys up for a day or two trip to TB. I work 7&7 and have been making trips every other week since March. Now that the fish or in the post spawn, i really could use some coaching on fishing offshore. I have tried it, but still have not caught any fish. My electronics won't help much, or won't help me much. My last trip - Fished Palo Goucho main lake grass bed. Caught a few keepers on one particular grass point. Bass were feeding on shad. Best bait was watermelon ( anything ) baby brush hog, and on the windy days letting a swimming senko drift with the waves across the same point. Also fished the coves between Indian Mounds and Houson this past Monday, caught 20+ short fish, and had another 100+ bites. My two keepers were caught on the main islands in the mouth of pirates cove. Everything was caught on a Texas rigged fluke, no weight, WR, Mardi Gras, but i don't think the color made that much of a difference.

Toledo Bend meet up
Good to hear all of you had a good trip and get together on TB. Wished I could have made it to meet all of you. Working 7&7 in the Gulf allows you to fish a little more than most. But is also causes you to miss many things, Like Easter with the family. I will try and keep up with the forum a little more now and post trips, news etc. The wife and I are searching for a camp again, and hope to spend more time on the lake. Sure regret having to sell mine back some ten years ago. We will be up there for sure April 22, thru 25, staying at Emerald Cove, Tx. Side. Stayed there last year, people were real friendly and allowed us to bring our small dog, ( my best friend next to my wife !). I will probably be going up this weekend. I have been staying at the Sabine Inn, real handy to launch at Carrice Creek. If any of you see a new Maroon Xpress with a 115 yamaha, behind all maroon 4-door GMC, come say hello. I want to thank CATT for starting the thread on learning toledo bend. It has really helped me understand map reading, and gives me more ammunition to convince myself to buy some better electronics. I used what I have learned this week reading up on this forum and applied it to the areas i had caught fish this spring and it made since why fish were on certain banks rather than others. Hope to apply it to deeper water once post spawn begins.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Hello All, sorry I didn't check back here until today. All of the reports are welcomed. It's nice to find a forum on Toledo Bend, and the people don't mind sharing information. I have been away from fishing some 9-10 yrs. Started back late last year, and made a couple of trips to TB. Boy has it changed. I Have made three trips this year so far. 1st-TOBI, very ugly, wet, cold. Managed to weigh limit first day and only four second day. Finished 97. Everything was caught on Senko Watermelon/Red, no weight. Some on the bank, but most out in the middle of the main coves. Fished both days south of bridge, Texas side, carrice creek area. Trip 2 2nd-Early March - 1st afternoon, arrived Same area as above 12 noon. Figured by now the fish should be in the bushes. Good Call. 3-4 flip, had a 3 1/2# in the boat. First hour boated four, 2 keepers. Remaining afternoon released a couple of short fish and caught two solid keepers. All caught on W/R brush hog, pegged weight. Next Day - Fished all day, same pattern, same area. Fished up until dark trying to catch my eight fish for a limit. Not knowing all along that i lost count some how in all the excitement, and counted eight in the live well when i got back to launch. Go thing i didn't catch another. Next Day - Mostly a wash. Went to Louisiana side meet friends, wrong side with the wind blowing 25+. Two boats and only managed 4-keepers. We were fishing the coves north of big bass, 1st time for me. Had some great bushes in the back, but the wind was rough and the water was muddy. Ended up with 13 keepers , one 7#, my personnel best. 3rd Trip - 1st afternoon, fished Indian mounds, I have not been there in 10 yrs. Caught one short fish, missed a couple of more, no keepers. next day- Decided to go back to what i caught on last trip. Great Move - Fished all day, same area carrice creak, all in the bushes. Ended up the day with 13 keepers. All solid fish, 2 1/2# average, Best personnel day ever on TB. Next morning - Fished same pattern, same place, all in the bushes, W/R creature bait. Fished until 1pm. Missed the first three fish i hooked up with. This was unusual since i had been having great luck and not missing many. Ended up the morning with four keepers. 5.5, two 3+, one 2+. Released 3 or so short fish, and the 5.5. Sorry for the long post. Headed back to TB next week or weekend. Lake has been dropping, so my bushes will probably be dry. Never been much of a main lake guy, or fishing points. Never had much luck. So i welcome the post i read on fishing points with spinner baits and such. Hopefully i can apply some of this next trip, if i cant find some brush with water, my first love !!
