First Trip to Lake of The Ozarks
I like jigs in shade on calm sunny days and jerkbait with a little wind and clouds.

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
If you look carefully, LES is beefing up the split rings. You can definitely tell just by comparing them to another which ones have better split rings. BUT I will say they must have heard the issue because they have some better rings on more current runs.

Springtime At Pomme De Terre
Remember that Pomme is traditionally high in the spring. I have seen it as high as 9 ft above normal pool (last year I think or the year before) They predominant bite when this happens is the flooded buck brush. Be prepared to fish flooded brush if you are going to Pomme in the spring. Just keep and eye on lake levels etc. when the time comes. Many ways to fish it. I like Jerks, warts, spinnerbaits, etc. and flipping. I keep it simple though using natural colors like green pumpkin, watermelons hues etc. Heck throw the bubblegum....I would.

St. Louis Guys And Lake Of The Ozarks
I will keep this in mind. I am from Rolla and also fish LOZ as much as I can. great lake. message me with some contact info and we should fish sometime. great gesture. thanks. My normal fishing/tournament partner has had to reduce his fishing drastically due to work and finances which really leaves me without a partner to fish with.

Lake Of The Ozarks
could change, but this past weekend fish were being caught running a spinnerbait, buzzbait, spook along the sides of docks. Fish havent moved back yet and are on docks closer to the mouth of the coves. Focus on medium sized coves, not the larger creeks.

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
Right now just stick to main lake cuts and throw a squarebill in 5ft or less. the cold weather may change that though. could be really good. can also go to haverstick and throw a blade past as many trees as possible.

Fishing Around Rolla, Mo
I live in Rolla also. What lake are you talking about that isn't public? To be honest your best bet around here if you are boatless is to go to google earth and find farm ponds. then just go ask the owners permission. My fishing is done by hauling the boat to the lakes. Another great option is to fish the rivers. I used to live on the Gasconade in Vienna and there is great fishing on the rivers. Otherwise trout fishing is popular at the state parks. Meremac, Bennett springs, montauk, etc. There is also a conservation lake down by Dixon. for the most part though you will probably have to get out of town.

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
OK guys.....need a little Pomme help. I will be down in mid October. I am a football coach so I am not too familiar with Pomme in the fall. With the lake back to normal this fall what/where am I looking for a good starting point for bass. Typical main patterns, areas, baits will be very appreciated. thanks yall.

Thanks! going down on Sat.....not to fish, but to look at a place close to yours I think

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
hope you are right.....the report is that they will open the dam and run 3500 cfs and the lake is scheduled to be at normal pool around or later than the holiday. I think by then the bass will either spawn and possibly leave their nests dry or they may not spawn at all due to the lake not stabilizing. Females can just absorb their eggs if they do not release them. I am afraid the spawn may be hurt this year.

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
Just fished a tourney this past weekend on Pomme. The high water sure made it tough. There were 2 approaches......go up the rivers and flip jigs or stay close to dam and throw jerkbaits. We went out Friday and stayed by the dam with jerkbaits and did not do well so we decided for the tourney to go way up the the river and got excited by the clear water behind all the dirty water. However it was colder water temp and did not produce. I only caught 2 fish and one was a short. There were a lot of 1 and 2 fish bags weighed in. Not positive but I think only 2 limits were weighed. very tough....the jerkbait bite seemed to be the ticket but only later in the day after it warmed a bunch. Big bass was a 6lber, but that was the only larger size fish caught.

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
No, WAAAYYY up! like just around the corner from PP bridge.... Over on Ozarkanglers.com forum there is a dam report that they are not releasing any water yet and are on schedule to be able to release water starting April 7th. That is if we don't get too much rain. If they go by forecasted rain, it may be close to the max they want in the lake before being forced to release. I am fishing the first weekend of April and have NO idea what to do this time of year with the water currently at 14ft above pool.

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
gonna be there end of march early april and am torn on what to do. a few weeks ago we went WAY up the Pomme and found a flipping bite on a very tough day. not sure if I should stick with the dam area or go up the river again. Mid-MO great fish by the way....congrats

What are the bass doing during PreSpawn on Pomme? What are the best ways to catch them this time of year into April?
-
Any Pomme de Terre reports?
dam is planning to be done around mid May and they wont run water unless it gets over 855.....at least that is what I heard. could make for a very successful spawn.

Any Pomme de Terre reports?
Pretty cool you keep data like that. Now that the lake is thawed, what/where the fish going to be. I have not ever fished Pomme in winter. I assume jerkbait and jigs. where do they like and what colors?

Your Suggestion for a Spinning Rod Under $50
I actually really like the feel of the newer lightnings. If braid is your worry, I would be all over the lightning rod shock. That is what the rod is made for and it is around the $50 range

If anyone is interested, I have a travel trailer and a lake lot on Pomme that is now for sale.

Braid on spinning reels opinions
I did this last year with all my spinning rigs and love it. I won't go back to fighting with fluoro/mono on spinning reels. I tie a fluoro leader with a uni to uni knot.

Eagle Claw Hooks
I pour jigs and use Mustads, but can't help to notice the price of Eagle Claw hooks. Are they that bad? Anybody use them? I am considering switching if it is a decdent quality hook

Fluid Beds
quick question, so to have extra cups, do they have bottoms in them? I am assuming they do, but how does that work if you are just putting in a paper bag or filter and then inserting the cup?
