  1. I fished all main lake stuff. I tried the backs but the bite was not there. Main lake banks with wood (pole timber or laydowns) were the best for me. There was a definite window of aggressive feeding around dawn and dusk. Fish bit all day but I had to 'force feed' them. This is pretty much what I found on Wed. too. I could not get anything to even sniff at a buzzbait, spinnerbait, or crankbait. I caught all my fish on a jig. color didn't seem to matter, jsut natural. Bite was really wierd, had a LOT of fish that would not full eat the jig, I swung and missed a lot. Ended up catching probably 7 or 8 and all were keepers. All were pretty identical in the 2-2.5 lb range. No big fish. Broke 3 off due to not retying when I should. > Water was anywhere from 53-58 degrees and stained pretty bad. Fished in the Lindley arm.
  2. Where abouts? in the backs, secondaries, etc.? I will be there Wed. and will probably take off out of Nemo.
  3. you ever fish the hump and roadbed at Russel Cove? how have you done?
  4. Yeah Nemo is open and in good shape - they have waived the usual launching fee while the lake is low too. What subdivision are you in? Don't say Real McCoy!! That's where I'm at. I am currently in Lake Forest subdv. it is off of J8 near pittsburg. on the water our subd. ramp is in a cut right down from fisher cove. Where's Real McCoy?
  5. Yeah, I have that map and maps in my electronics units, but it was not labeled. I fish all of those just was not aware of thier names. I have done well in Possum Creek but do not venture too far back, how far back there do you like to fish? Any tips on where to go this wednesday? Is the Nemo ramp good to use? thanks again man.
  6. I always like the Pomme arm any time of year over the Lindley because there are more areas that I like to fish. Just a personal preference. If you fish the Lindley arm in Oct/Nov always hit Haverstick branch - it is a stump filled cove and shad pack in there so tight you can walk across them. As far as stump fields; I already mentioned Haverstick on the Lindley arm. The Pomme arm: Coopers Cove, Fugat/Big Hollow, Twin Coves, Possum Creek, all are heavy stump fields with standing timber and laydowns/brush piles in water 1-25' deep. If you don't already having a fishing Hot Spots map for Pomme, pick one up. All the areas I mention here are on there. FYI the lake is 5' low and will be that way for a while. The better bite is along bluffs right now because of the water level change. Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, square bills, parallel to the bank on the bluffs in 1-3' of water. You have to nose your boat right up to the bank and cast parallel. KC I know Coopers and Possum Creek, but where are the others located? Fugat/Big Hollow? Twin Coves?
  7. Great thread and reports. I also have a place on Pomme and I get down there whenever I can. Being from Rolla I don't have a ton of time to "cover water" so these reports help. I am going to be down there on Wednesday before Turkey Day and do some scouting. KC you said Nemo is open and good to use? That is closest to my subdivision. May have a backseat open if anyone is interested for a couple hrs of fishing.
  8. I only use BTS. Pledge, dish soap, vinegar water, etc. will all clean off scum and water spots, but offer NO protection whatsoever from the sun and elements. BTS can be used on the WHOLE boat.
  9. just started using some the end of last year. So far so good. It is soft and very managable and i haven't had any breaking issues with it so far.
  10. Another tip for flippers in the thick stuff is to rig your plastic backwards.
  11. I will use many different plastics that you may normally tx rig on shakey jigheads. Ie. Zoom baby brush hogs, rage lobsers, creature baits, salty craws, lizards, etc. not just for finesse worms.
  12. GLADES, yes adding cup will give you more lift. As far as height, you keep going up until you lose Water PSI, speed, or lift. You don't want to go any higher. How did it do lower? May get the bow back up.
  13. Foils are good for getting a better holeshot and staying on plane at slower speeds. this is important for speed limits and night fishing for sure. there is no effect on top end speed because when at WOT the foil is out of the water. some say it is a band-aid fix for bad setup. To me a 2-3 second holeshot is a 2-3 second holeshot regardless of how you got it. Others say they are ugly, I am not in any boat fashion shows....ae you? I think if they benefit your rig, go for it. They really excel on underpowered boats and smaller motors, but work great on high performance rigs too.
  14. In my experiences, If the fish does not leave the bed when you are pitching at it, it can normally be caught. You jsut have to figure out how and how long are you willing to work on him. I found this past weekend, the only way to get one to bite was to pitch my tube in the bed and hop it so it hit em in the face. This is not always the case, so there is no perfect way to do it, jsut have to experiment and figure it out.
  15. 10on Powerworms are a staple for night tourneys here at Lake of the Ozarks. I will drag them slowly normally, but vary the retrieve with hops etc. If they are around they will find it.
  16. The zoom worms work good. There are thousand others. Any finesse worm will work. the Shakey head comes from the technique and jighead used. again many varieties of finesse or shakey head. I have not seen a hair jig called a shakey head, that is a whole different jig.
  17. Couple things you could do. I have started by just trying to get him to learn how to cast and reel. He really doesn't understand the whole watch the bobber and catch a fish thing so I just let him play with his spincast rig. If I catch a fish, I let him throw it back. He is also 3, but has a physical handicap so my situation may be a little different.
  18. I.m with the others that fish tourneys. If they allow to use them then I do. Saved me many a fish. If I am fun fishing I normally wont get it out unless I hook a good one, then only if I have easy access to it.
  19. +1 that is what I would have said too.
  20. Yes you can use it on braid, works great too. Mono, flouro, braid, graph screens, sunglasses, keeps mold and mildew out of storage and rain gear, line guides, etc. etc. ;D
  21. This is basically it, be sure however to use a synthetic cloth like microfiber. The formula bonds with cotton and you will go through a whole lot more product using a cotton cloth. Also, do this a day or so before it hits water to ensure that it dries. Let me know if anybody has any questions.
  22. If you are going to do it you might as well do the whole process and get a melting pot and a mold. Really isn't all that hard. I use Do-It molds and bought a Lee melting pot from bass pro. Can also get a stuff from JannsNetcraft.com and staminainc.com
  23. That there guys is a great deal!!
  24. I have a Big Bear Rod. The red one. won it in a contest. they are definitley nice rods, but there are def. better alternatives for $160. I thought the rod is a bit on the heavy side. Handles are decent, cool concept.
  25. I like to find where there is runoff into the lake and fish there. If it is muddy I will use baits that are easier to locate and move more water
