  1. Anybody have any useful information? I have not had alot of luck out there and I'm taking a good friend of mine out there who is really interested in bass fishing, but has never really had a chance to catch good fish.
  2. That sounds good to me....I am in Auburn. I am pretty close to Eufala, Bartletts Ferry, and West Point.
  3. That is how the tournaments used to be.... Ray Scott set things up that way for a while...Mystery Classic and the people were flown out there and given one day of practice and then they had the tournament. I think Bobby Lane may have won the first one. I read an article on it a while back but I can't remember it exactly
  4. My Kill switch isn't working....Can somebody explain the system to me? I took the cover off of the ignition plate where the igntion and kill switch are mounted. I expected the wires to run directly to the ignition. How does the kill switch, cut the motor off exactly. I think it's just a faulty switch, but I want to check everything thoroughly to prevent any future issues.
  5. O ok...great. Well it sounds like I will be fishing the American Fishing tour next year! I am excited. The season starts in October right? I'll be the guy out there with the older stratos and 100 horse motor. Ha
  6. Ok...well I went out and looked at the trolling motor. I couldn't find anything that stood out about the cutting out issue, but I did fix the arrow problem. Just FYI incase anyone else is having this problem. I took out the three screws from the underside of the head. It comes right off and you can see where the arrow has a small gear that comes down and meets a small plastic peice from the shaft. A little epoxy and it's working like new. Nothing to it. Not sure what to make of the cutting out issue yet. I turned my trolling motor on high and ran it for a while and it never cut out. It only seems to do it while it is in the water.
  7. So basically for the American Fishing Tour....You draw a boater or a co angler which ever one. If you draw a boater do you just agree on who's boat to use?
  8. Yall are right! I am going to fish some circuit next year, it will probably be this one. I am not sure that I understand it 100 percent though. Will somebody explain the "draw" system to me?
  9. I am thinking about starting the American Fishing tour as a boater this year, but I don't have a new fast boat. I was wondering if anyone has fished in this tourney and if anyone fishes in "older" boats. I have a 17' 1990 Stratos 269V with a 100HP Motor. I know it puts me at a disadvantage because of speed, but I fish lots of smaller tournaments and believe I could be competitive. Let me know your thoughts please.
  10. Looking for some good Lilly pads on Eufala. Trying to find a large area of them. Any help?
  11. Just looking for some opinions...... I am in alabama. The lakes I mainly fish are done with spawn for the most part with very few parts still have some bedding fish. Water temp is around 76-77 in most places. I have been on a pretty good topwater and jerkbait bite on some shallow flats and connecting grass beds. I am wondering if the topwater bite is worth chasing this time of year in a tournament. It always seems that I can go out in practice catch a couple of 3lbers but never when it counts they are always small. Plus the missed opportunities from fishing topwater make me wonder if I am doing the total wrong thing. I know I am trying to ride the top water bite too long, but should I even try it at all?
  12. My arrow doesn't point anymore. I don't guess I really need it, but it would help. It's a Motorguide Pro 54lb thrust. Also when you put it on 5 it will cut out. Has anyone ever had any of these problems? Advice?
  13. I had the exact same problem with mine...problem wound up being my transducer cable was caught between the head of the trolling motor and the mount. Make sure your wire isn't pinched. Also try putting silicone around where the wire goes in to your transducer and around the seams. That fixed one for a friend of mine.
  14. What is bass opener? You have a season?
  15. I think it has alot to do with the reel. I have found that some are way easier to use than others. I feel like I can throw a baitcaster with the best of em. I throw all of mine practically free spool now a days unless the wind is blowing. I bought a Plueger Summit a while back because it was on sale and I wanted the All Star Rod it came on. Anyways I could never get used to it. I didn't have a backlash problem but couldn't get any distance out of it what so ever. I don't know your budget but Abu Garcia reels are probably some of the easiest to throw and are def my favorite. I taught a couple people to throw using the Black Maxx from Abu Garcia. I would suggest that reel to anyone starting out. It's cheap and will hold up until your ready to move up to the Revo SX!!! I also like the BPS extreme.a
  16. Great input and I appreciate that! But that brings me to another question. I seem to have trouble finding schools of bass or catching mulitiple bass in a location. Generally I'm on the one or two here and there pattern. How do you go about catching multiple bass in a spot and where do you look for these fish?
  17. Where are the best places to throw them? Conditions?
  18. JUNK.....but I did pick one up and my buddy did as well. He actually caught a fish on his. Don't buy it
  19. Heres a question.......Say You've been on some decent fish for over a week, 13-15 lbs on best 5. You are really counting on them to be there Saturday for a tournament. Two nights before tournament it storms, clear the next day and night before. Water is only slightly darker than the weeks prior when the bite was strong approx 75 degrees. The same 5 spots produce 5.1 lbs only 4 fish. Couldn't even get my limit, but thats not totally the fish's fault. Still never got a "bigger" fish to bite. Everything seemed to be approx 1.5 lb. My question is for some of you seasoned anglers, what would you do in this situation? Where did the fish go? and what could I have done or what would you do to pack on a few pounds when the bite is tough and your fish aren't there? BTW the bite I was on was a buzz frog grass bite in 1-3 ft of water early and 4-7 ft as the sun gets a little higher. The grass is in a large cove with a small creek down the right side, creek is only around 4-7 ft deep with the entire flat from 1-5 ft deep. I also worked the flat pretty good with a jerk bait. Give me your thoughts!
  20. I am interested in co angling some of the opens in 2011. Where can I find more information on these tournaments
  21. Aww man I can handle any football arguement! Lol! I wish I could fish as well as I debate auburn football!!! I currently am fishing the weekend series and will probably fish the BFL as well next year if the money is there, but I am looking for something a little more often and a little less expensive.
  22. Looking for people around Central Alabama to get up a couple of weekend pot tourneys. We can do different lakes. It doesn't matter to me. I just love to fish and be competitve. Anyone inetersted?
  23. Central Alabama Bass Club anybody? I live in Auburn
  24. I've got a 1990 Startos 269 with a 100 hp Evinrude. It has the smaller deck up front and I am looking to extend the deck. I don't even really know where to start. Anybody tried this before? How did it go? Better yet does anyone know anybody around Alabama that will do this for me?
  25. I am pretty new to bassresource.com but have been an avid angler all my life. I love and am devoted to the sport and conservation of bass fishing and it's resources. I am also passionate about finding a career in the fishing industry somehow. Well thats a little about me. I just want to say how much I really enjoy this website. It is so well put together and there is something for everyone to learn on here from the begineer to the most seasoned angler! This is really a great resource for bass fisherman all over the world.
