Tilt/trim Problems And Advice Needed To Gel Coat
It's a metal flake. I am pretty sure that some of the chips are already silver. I tried the rubbing compound at the suggestion of a friend already and I was pleased with the results but it only lasted a couple of weeks maybe. They are only silver in a couple of really small spots though. I don't know what I should do. How much does someone generally charge to fix it up. I've got a guy that said he would wet sand and buff it for a couple hundred dollars, but it seems like something I could do myself and save the money. .

Tilt/trim Problems And Advice Needed To Gel Coat
I am looking for tips and suggestions on the DIY gel coat kits. I've seen em around for about 200.00. I've heard mixed reviews but have never really seen the results personally. Anybody out there have any experience with these kits? I have a 1990 Stratos, it's in great shape but just needs a little face lift. Figured that I could do this myself and help the looks of it and possibly even the resale value if I decide to go that route. My tilt and trim assembly started becoming intermittent on the water. It got the point of I would have to tap it to get it to work. I pulled the whole assembly out from under the motor. Took the DC motor off and cleaned up the brushes and armature really good and I've got it working great. However, if I put it back on the assembly and try to run it, it quits. I pulled it back off to find that the motor is filling up with hydraulic fluid. I assume that there is a busted seal or gasket in the fluid resovoiur that is supposed to stop this from happening and it has apparently gone bad. However, I can't seem to get it open. I've removed the 3 screws for the motor and the 3 screws that hold it to the assembly itself. Any advice or experience with this issue?

Fishing Around Camp Shelby Mississippi
I hope you get your pass!!!!! I am currently deployed since last August and we went through mob station at Ft Hood and they didn't give us any leave! I tried everything I could to get out and do some fishing in Texas. I was so hoping to get a 4 day and get a buddy to bring my boat down and we could fish some of those infamous Texas waters. Just never happened. Good Luck on your deployment! I am halfway through, that means I'm halfway back to the lake.

Lake Maps
I downloaded the Navionics app for the IPad and it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Is there a way to do it on your PC? That would be great. I was looking to use it for route planning and finding new fishing spots. I also have a question about maps and datums and etc. I currently normally use the Atlantic maps. They show great detail, but if you try to use their LAT LONG for coordinates then it doesn't quite match up with my GPS. This is because they use different datums. I believe the GPS is using the WGS84 datum and the maps are using some 1943 geological survey. Has anyone found any good paper maps that match up with GPS units?

Lake Maps
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find some good PC maps just for studying up on different lakes. I've looked at the Hotmaps explorer deal and thats pretty much what I'm looking for it just doesn't have all the right lakes. Anybody have any other sources they use for studying up on lakes before they head out?

Bass following jerkbait to boat
Veyr good advice so far. I started changing colors. I wound up on a sexy shad xcalibur and had a few more commints but not quite as many. I also tried playing with my approach but couldn't quite get it tweaked. I got a tournament Saturday on that lake so I hope I can tweak it early enough to make it work because that is a big part of my pattern

Bass following jerkbait to boat
I was fishing today and had a lot of fish follow my jerkbait to the boat and turn away or they would either come right up and kiss it, but never bite. I caught a few but not as many as turned away from it. Can anyone help me out as to why??

I am looking for a good set of tournament scales as I will be directing a tournament trail this year. I want them to be nice scales and look professional. Does anyone have any experience with this or know where I could find some for a decent price?

How fast should my boat go
What could I do to get me the most extra MPH. I mean don't get me wrong I don't wanna go real fast, but 50 would be super nice. I probably won't see it, but.... I would like to

How fast should my boat go
I'm getting my speed from a Humminbird 597 system. My tach seems to top out around 5500 I believe. Tach goes to 7000. How hard should I be pushing it? I have thought about playing with prop sizes and pitches, but that can get expensive. Also thought about replacing my stabilizer, but theres nothing wrong with the one I have.

Motorguide rope replacement
Man...that happened to me here while back and has happened a couple of times since then. DO NOT go cheap on the rope. Find a decent rope that you don't think will break. It's a pain the first time. You need a really good set of needle nose. You have to run the rope in the small side slot and through that little hole in the middle. Once you get it though pull it out the back and tie a knot in it. Then you have to run it back up the shaft and bring it back around the silver pin. I'm not gonna lie it was a ^&^%% the first time I did it. Still take about 20 or 30 minutes.

Livewell Treatments....FYI
I have noticed that once I added Rejuvenade to my tank that the fish would start jumping as soon as it hit the water.... I will not be using this product anymore for sure.

Livewell Treatments....FYI
I have tried to find the ingredients for some of these products and I haven't been able to find them listed anywhere. However, on Sure Life's website I did find a video where they recommended putting hydrogen peroxide in your live well. I'm not an expert, but I don't think I would bet against the fisheries advice. I don't know if it is used in Please Release me or not. Once again I am not trying to step on any ones toes....Not saying one product is better or bad. Just passing on advice given to me. I'm just trying to do my part to insure preservation of these fish.

Livewell Treatments....FYI
Just thought I would share an interesting bit of information with everyone. You can take this how you want to. I am hosting a bass trail this year for the first time. I wanted some real and factual information on how to keep as many fish alive as possible. I went to the Auburn University fisheries department and spoke with the specialist in sport fishing. I asked about the many livewell treatments on the market today. The information I received was a little suprising. They have actually done a few studies on the subject. He said that most of those chemicals are actually harmful to the fish in the long run. He said it may appear to give them energy at first, but eventually can wind up killing the fish. He said he's not familiar with all the brands on the market, but he said do not use anything that contains hydrogen peroxide. He said that it is basically lethal to bass. His suggestion for a livewell treatment is non iodized salt. Also...catch and release boats can be deadly to fish as well. They have done studies at many tournaments and have found that people are overloading the catch and release boat and killing more fish than they are saving. He said that the catch and release boat is a great idea if it is used in multiple trips and the fish are not overcrowded. I just thought I would pass this information on and hopefully save a few of our fish!

Scenario
End of June early July....The water in the largest part of the lake (lower part) is pretty clear but the water is pretty warm. Upper Part water is much more stained almost muddy with cooler water, almost 10 degrees cooler in some places. Where would you start? The upper part it is tough to find some good deep water! It's mostly a river run with lots of lay downs and things like that in shallow water. You have one day of practice before fishing a tournament. How would you set up your practice day?

'Bass fishing bullies', or what???
Well theres not really alot that you can do other than start bouncing Rat L Traps off that nice fiberglass bass boat. Lol..JK Don't do that! ha! General rule in a tournament is 50 yards of another boat anchored or with trolling motor down. Most people ive met tournament fishing have been great sportsmen and great people who would not intrude on anyone, but as with everything you have your bad apples!

Lake Martin, AL
I live on Lake Martin....Why are you people coming here?!?!?! LOL It's horrible!!! Please be careful...Pleasure boaters are everywhere on this lake this time of year! If you are gonna flip docks, get around the Kawliga area. If you want more back water type areas you need to head to the area of the lake above Wind Creek State Park...Sturdivant Creek is a good place to start. If you would like more advice send me a PM.
