Maryland's Who's who!
I am in love with the Potomac! So used to fishing a weed choked reservoir (Loch Raven) so the river is awesome. Caught four or five little smallies (8'') a HUGE sunfish, and a nice walleye. Don't know if he was big, because I've never caught one before, but he was about 20'' and full of teeth. I'm fishing near Harpers ferry...anyone know anything good about "Point of Rocks"?

Need some advice/answers about line
Hi all, need some help. I fish in a huge reservoir mostly for LMB, but there are SMB and also a lot of chain pickerel. I am no where near a pro fisherman, but I love it, and I go three or four times a week. My rig is a BPS Tourney Rod...pretty stiff; I paid $50 bucks for it. I have a Daiwa XiA 3000 reel, and I have Stren original 6lb test on it. I fish almost only senkos, but I also throw flukes, and mepps spinners, and some Rapala's. Now that it's summer, the weeds are thick, so I was wondering if I should change to a different line? I have a spool with 10 lb test, but I feel like I'm casting with rope. Also, was wondering what the pros/cons are to braided line? Thanks guys!!

I really need some help
I live near Baltimore MD and I fish in a reservoir (Loch Raven). All spring and early summer long, catching 2-5 fish a day was normal. I fished almost only senkos. Now, the lake is FILLED with weeds; very very thick, and I'm stuck on shore. I throw out my worm, and it does'nt get through it. I'm not a fishing pro, so I don't know what to do? I throw a jig out, and I'm not sure that even get's through...certainly get's plenty of weeds though. Any thoughts or help would be amazing...I'm about to get some night crawlers and just fish for bluegills.

Dick's Sporting Goods
Given the choice between Dicks and BPS, I would never go to Dicks again. There are two Dicks w/in 20 mins of me here in MD, BPS is about 45 mins away. Dicks does'nt even come close to BPS. People who work there are usually idiots too.

If you could have a lifetime supply......
I'd give up every lure in my box for Senkos.

Maryland's Who's who!
Howdy all Just fished on the Potomac this past Friday. I usually fish at Loch Raven, so I'm not used to fishing in a river with current. Any advice on what to fish with in there? I'm fishing near by Harpers Ferry I think...where I was fishing I could see the bridge that goes to VA. Any advice would be amazing. Only fish I caught were on crankbaits....current seemed to strong to throw worms (I usually fish only with senko's) Thanks guys!!

Fishing on the Potomac
I live in Towson, but made the trip to the Potomac yesterday. I fished near Harpers Ferry I think. Where we were fishing, you could see the bridge to VA. Anyway, I was just wondering if you guys had any advice for catching browns out there. I caught a few small ones, and a friend of mine caught the only fish of any size (14'') We were fishing with Rapala J-7's most of the day...cranks seemed the way to go. I usually fish at Loch Raven, so I'm not used to being on a river with all sorts of current. Any help would be amazing!!

Catch and Release?
Perhaps he was not a wealthy man, and he was feeding his family? Here in MD, if they're 12'' long you can keep them. That's his business. If it was 5 or 6 lbs', it was his right to keep it. Don't get upset...it does'nt affect anyone but you.

Around Baltimore
I don't mind driving an hour or so. I've gone to the Potomic (Harpers Ferry area) but that is a really long drive for me. Thanks for the help!

Around Baltimore
I fish mostly in Loch Raven, but am looking to fish somewhere new. Loch Raven get's hammered with people...sometimes I think the fish are just mocking me. Does anyone know of some places not to far away from Baltimore to fish for green or brown fish? I see all these pictures of 5lb+ and I get jealous. I catch 3lb+ at Loch Raven, in the high of spawn, and want to cry. Thanks for the help!

Maryland's Who's who!
Hey there Wifisherman. I fish at Loch Raven about 3 or 4 times a week. I usually fish from the shore, but if you're in a boat, go out from the docks, and than go to the right. Go past the bridge, and you'll see a cove with an island on your left. That cove is PACKED with Large Mouths, all sorts of various pan fish, and Chain Pickeral. Some of the pickeral are big...I've caught a few that were 20 inches or so. Good luck!

Maryland's Who's who!
I fish Loch Raven around four or five times a week. There are all sorts of great spots to fish there. There is a nice cove just before the bridge on Dulaney Valley Road. There is also tons and tons of structure off of Providence Road. I caught a nice one down there this morning actually; maybe 16 inches or so. Water is crystal clear, so you can see them sitting on nests, or just trolling along.
