  1. Rage craws Spro Frogs Zoom Flukes Senko's Fat Ika's Zoom Trick Worms Boy would I be happy with a spare $100!
  2. Fat Ika is a killer. Fish it. All the time.
  3. I love the Rattle Traps, but I've never caught a fish on my Rapalla.
  4. Senko's are pretty amazing...they always seem to catch fish for me. They certainly have negatives though; Gut hooks, and quite expensive. I love them though...I can sit in one spot for 1/2 an hour and just barely move them (I'm quite patient) so they're perfect for me. Of course, chigger craws are pretty good too...
  5. Went fishing again today; no luck just a few hits. Am I correct to keep my thumb on the spool as it goes out? I am finding that I can loosen the brakes up, but I have to keep the spool from going berzerk. Is this correct?
  6. So I took the new to me reel out today, and after five minutes of birds nests every cast, I figured it out enough to catch a few bass. I just read that tutorial...still a bit lost. Can someone explain to me what each part does? What do the brakes actually do, and what does cast control do? When I was playing with the brakes while fishing, I did'nt notice a difference. I did notice that if I loosened up the cast control, I had instant bird nests, so I kept that pretty tight. Thanks for the help guys!!
  7. Hi guys. I just got an Abu Garcia Black Max given to me. I was wondering what is a good way to set up the reel? There are dials, and things to spin...I have no idea what any of them are, or where to put any of them. It's my only baitcaster, so I need everything in a spot where I can throw all I throw...senko's, some cranks, spinners etc. Thanks for the help guys!
  8. I feel the same way. I'm near Baltimore, and it's 40 outside right now with a bit of drizzle. The water temperatures have plummeted. I was really looking forward to some nice fall fishing too. Not so sure I'm going to get much of that though. That's ok...when it's to cold to fish, that's when you get out the guns.
  9. I have a friend who loves to fish for white perch. He throws on two shad darts, about a foot and a half apart from eachother and just kind of jerks them back in. When you can fish for bass...or really anything else at all, white perch is not that much fun. Unless that is, you are looking to eat them. In that case, have a blast!
  10. Only time my desire to fish slows down is when it's hot as hell outside, and I know I'm going to almost die if I go fish. When fishing, or anything else, is something you truly love, you won't get sick of it. I could throw a Senko every day all day (so long as I wont die from heat exhaustion) and never get sick of it. Same with hunting or music (my other hobbies). I can sit in a tree or int a goose pit every day and never tire of it, or play a D minor scale forever cause I really love those things. Maybe fishing was just something you were into for a while? Who knows, and really it's not a big deal. Try it again next year. Maybe the fire will be back. Oh, and sometimes real life get's in the way of things like fishing. Nothing wrong with that either.
  11. Feeling that tug on a soft bait is unbeatable. Especially when it's a big one.
  12. The charlie brown stripe always gives them away.
  13. Depends on the time of year. In the spring, I'm on the water literally whenever I can; usually three evenings a week, and one or two mornings. Once summer comes, I slow down along with the fish. I usually go out once a week. Once fall comes back, I try to get out as much as I can again. I have three hobbies: Playing music, hunting deer/geese/ducks, and catching fish. I do all three as much as I can.
  14. I was fishing the Potomac this morning for smallies, and the tube was killing. I caught all sorts of fish, most were small but still fish. Only problem was that if I was'nt catching a fish, I was getting snagged on a rock. Does anyone have a good way to remedy this problem? I was just sticking the jig head up the tube and the hook is hanging out. Hoping someone has some magic trick they could share
  15. Had a big snag, and lost a lot of line. I took off the rest, and respooled....must have been a bad batch of line. I could break it all along the spool, and new stuff is just fine. Did'nt know that shelf life could effect line like that. Thanks guys!!
  16. Where I fish, the place is packed with pickeral...some are big. Biggest I've caught is 24''; so fat you can barely grab them. They're fun to fight, until you realize it's a pickeral, then then you realize you have to get that hook out of their mouth. They like to bite.
  17. I had the reel on an older rod, but I don't use that rod anymore. I suppose that is quite possible that the guides had some burrs in them. I'll have to check and make sure.
  18. I have a Daiwa XiA 3000, and it's spooled with Stren Original mono 6lbs. Should I be able to just break it with my hands? I run my fingers over it, and it's pitted...I have no idea why. I just spooled it on there like three months ago, so it's not like I've had the same line for five years. Is that lite a line ULTRA susceptible to wear? Thanks for the help guys.
  19. Looking for any advice from all you pros!! I'm fishing around the Harpers Ferry area. I've had luck throwing Mepps spinners, and spinner baits. What kind of soft stuff should I be throwing? Thanks for the help boys!
  20. I use super glue. I was a little worried it would'nt work, but they catch fish just the same as the new ones.
  21. Are you saying you fish even further North than Harpers Ferry? My friend and I know that they catch big greens (5lb +) down on the southern Potomac. Is it good fishing further north? We were throwing mostly spinners and spinner baits. Any other suggestions?
