  1. Throttle is opening fully, spark is good on all 6 cylinders. The prop seems fine, though I will look into it a bit closer. Thanks
  2. This summer I ended up having to have a new stator, and both power packs changed on my 89 v150. Befor they failed it ran 46mph at 5600rpm. Now since the repair 40mph and 5000rpm is the max it will do, plus its a bit sluggish to get on plane. Nothing has changed as to the set up on the boat. Compression is good as is the fuel and the carbs are clean. The repair shop has not impressed me, I took it back when I noticed the power loss. They supposedly checked it back out and the only suggestion they had was the plugs. They changed them at cost which wasnt bad, but it did nothing to help. I talked with them again friday and pretty much just shrugged their shoulders. I was hoping that maybe someone on here might have experienced something similar. Thanks G
  3. Morning yall. Just a heads up. I was approached by my neighbor yesterday asking if I would be willing to be their boat driver for a high school fishing tournament that they will be starting in December. I said I would, but I advised them that I am not too good at locating fish. I directed him here and told him that I highly suggeseted he read ALL 170 pages of posts and take notes. If I understand correctly they will be fishing both Toledo and Rayburn so they have a lot of learning to do. This discussion has been a huge help to me and i believe that they can learn a lot from it too. Thanks to all, Gator
  4. Geeze man, be careful what you type. I read the last post first and thought we had lost Catt. Ill never learn this lake then. G
  5. Good luck, they are out there but they are scarce. I was looking for the same thing, I live 5 min from Sabine Lake, and 2 hours from Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend here in Texas. I just couldnt justify that much money for a boat that I couldnt use in both salt and fresh water. Almost bought a bay boat but didnt really like the center console setup. I dont know how far your willing to travel, but you might add the Louisianna Sportsmans classifieds to your list. I saw a few there back when I was looking. During my search I found boats from Champion, Triton, Ranger, Blazer, ProGator, and was told by a Skeeter rep that they had made one at one time. You might look for them If you havnt already. Also the best two search terms i found were "bass n bay" and "salt water bass boat" . Ended up finding an old Broadhead aluminum custom boat near where i live. Couldnt pass it up. Bass boat layout, heavy (3/16") alum construction. Solid and rides as good as my dads champion. Perfect for salt or fresh as far as im concerned. Good luck, hope some of that helps. G .
  6. Went throught the same late last year. Found out that the 898 and up, has 4 frequencies that the transducer uses, as well as an external GPS puck which is supposed to work better. The 798 has an internal gps and the transducer produces 3 frequencies. Went with the 898, just before the price drop. Was not happy, but ohh well things happen. Check Universal Mania. They had the best price when I was shopping. G
  7. Ive delt with the guy on six mile your talking about a couple of times. They do seem like good people. G
  8. Hope ya have better luck next time. Its been tough from what i hear. Dads neighbor Ronnie fishes a lot of Tourneys and usually does pretty good. Hes has had a hard time lately and they live on the lake so they can fish a lot. Hopefully i can make it up this weekend, I want to try my new (to me) boat out. It ought to be perfect for Toledo, its an old Broadhead aluminum boat. 3/16" aluminum, ought to be perfect to beat on the stumps with. G
  9. Well heres another option. ProGator. I was looking at their bay boats and had them send me a price on the 210X just for kicks. With a 250HO Etec, tandem trailer, 101 mk tm,and on board charger it was right at 45k. I bet their smaller boats would be close to what the Nitros are going for, especially if rigged with a Merc. Course ya still need electronics. I ended up buying a used boat, just couldnt drop that kind of money right now. G
  10. Hope you Louisianna boys are ok, maybe this storm will put a bit of water back in the lake though. Cant wait to get back up there, hopefully in a couple of weeks. G
  11. So is anybody able to find a fish? Sat morning couldnt buy a bite. Caught 10 on Rayburn fri night. Maybe i need to try fishing at night on Toledo G
  12. Made a quick trip to Rayburn sun morning for fathers day. It was slow, caught 5. Three on worms deep and two early on top water. But one of the fish on top water went 7#9oz. Thats my new PB. Back to Toledo next weekend. Gator
  13. Sure is good to see you back on here Catt. So when you gonna post a pic of your 12#? Gator
  14. I finally made it back up for a couple of days. We fished sat and sun, and caught a pretty good number of fish, but no size to speak of. Probably 15-20 off of the north end of Texas Island and about the same on the main point of Mill creek closest to the island. Picked up a few legal fish sunday evening off of the "Reef" by the dam. Plum apple was definitly our best color. 15 to 20 foot was where they were caught, thought maybe the larger fish would be deeper but couldnt get anyhting to hit deeper than that. We wanted to get a look at Buck creek and Indian Creek at the low level, but when we ran into Buck creek coming from Mill, we saw several stumps sticking up right next to one of the bouys. We idled up and boy was it shallow. Decided to not go any farther. Good luck yall Gator
  15. Thats good advice, I never thought about it that way. Thanks for the heads up. Gator
  16. I was talking with my dad yesterday, I know that the site 7 boat launch is still open, they put his new, well new to him boat in the water there. Gator
  17. Sounds good, next time I head up ill see what yall suggest. Thanks Gator
  18. Well Catt, i fish from indian creek, out of a 16ft xpress. Im just a little skittish about running too far in it. Ive been up as far as Mill Creek so far and I will venture farther eventually. But so far this year due to the wind ive been staying pretty close in. I guess i could trailer around to try different areas. Gator
  19. So thursday the wife was supposed to come meet me in Sulfer, wanted her to look at the boat i was planning on buying. Thought that id finally be able to see more of Toledo than just the south end. Instead she calls and tells me that shes pregnant. Good thing i hadnt signed the paperwork. I wonder what she thinks about nameing the child mercury. Gator
  20. I do the QC work for the plant, but fill in doing piping and vessel inspection as needed. Its not a bad gig, you get to %@%% off engineers and welders. Gator
  21. 90 day T/A. Im gonne stop complaining about the 2 week outage at PPG going a little longer than expected. Gator
  22. Catt, i hate to keep bugging you but I was just wondering if you happened to know of anything on the net to aid in learning to properly read the depth finder. Ive done a search on this site looking, but was unable to find anything. Im going to keep searching. Thanks for your help. Gator
  23. Good luck on Lacassine yall. A lot of the guys at work are talking about that place. Ive been rereading earlier posts a lot lately and I think im starting to pick up some good information. Its becoming apparent to me that good electronics is a key that I have been missing. Ive been using a HB Matrix 35 which is 6-8 years old. It could also be that I just dont understand what it is trying to tell me. There has been a lot of talk about patterns, ie. pre-spawn, post spawn, summer, fall. Are these all of the patterns that the bass go through on Toledo? Any information would be appreciated. Gator
  24. Ive been sitting here reading old posts and I just want to again thank the guys for all of the priceless information. I know that I will never have the knowledge that these guys posses. Well, maybe i can hope to. Im looking forward to my first trip to the bend this weekend. Tight lines yall Gator
  25. Thats sad about Jack. He will be missed. Never met him, but have read a lot of his posts. G
