  1. Ill be at mom and dads up in the back of Indian Creek. Im taking the baby girl up there to see the folks and I figure Ill slip out and try to catch a fish. G
  2. Yea Julie was pretty busy, all of the fish we caught came from there. I guess no one was wanting to make a long run. One of the other guys I talked with caught their fish there and in Caney. Like us they struck out in Muddy. At least the boys caught a couple even if they didnt get to weigh anything in. Maybe next time. Gator
  3. Looks like a bunch of us out there this weekend. Ill be in the Indian/Buck/Mill areas. If yall see an old silver and blue aluminum Broadhead give me a wave. Gator
  4. Anybody been on Rayburn the last few days, trying to decide where to go to put the boys on some fish. Wish I could get up there ahead of time, but thats not gonna happen. Supposed to Launch out of Cassell Boykins. Thanks Gator
  5. Man thats a tough thing to happen this time of year. Hope it works out. Id offer, but Im already booked. You might also post over on the TB thread too. good luck G
  6. Congrats on the win. G
  7. I've have the H2O bag your looking at for maybe 2 years now. Over all its held up well although there is some damage to the area where the straps attach to the main bag at the top. Ive got the bag loaded down pretty heavily so im not too suprised. Ive never used the bottom section as a cooler, it just hold more baits. Its been a good bag for me since Im always switching between my boat, my fathers, and my fater-in-laws. I would say the H20 for the extra storage but it can get heavy. Gator
  8. Thats the way it goes. I knew of 2 spots I wanted to try, had fish on them the week before, but with the "Strong" south wind they would have been unfishable. So we were nowhere near there. Then the wind never really materialized. You take your chances thats all i is. Maybe the one in March. G
  9. I personally believe that a GPS is almost a requirement these days. With a good map chip you can learn a great deal about the area you are trying to fish without actually driving over every square inch to see whats there. Color is nice, but not a necessity. The 581 should be pretty good. The only thing you wont have is side imageing which is pretty sweet, but costs a ton. Id put the new unit with GPS at the console, and the old one on the TM. Once your fishing, your first concern is depth, then cover. Having a GPS up front would be nice if you are fishing deep structure and need it to stay in position, but you can always throw out marker bouys. Good Luck G
  10. How did yall do Sat? We didnt weigh in a fish. G
  11. Ive got 10$ that says Catt wins. G
  12. Sounds good Shaneous, i wasnt even thinking about other tourney goin on as a place to get info. Huntersdad, If yall see a Blue/Grey Aluminum Broadhead, stop by and say hey. That will be us. Gator
  13. Henry, when we were done fishing the tournement on Toledo, do you remember me talking about Zebra Muscles and water hyacin. Here is some more information. Though others might like to see it as well. G http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/newsmedia/releases/news_roundup/zebra_mussels/ http://www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov/aquatics/waterhyacinth.shtml
  14. Any reports for Rayburn this weekend? I was finishing up hunting season, may try to go next weekend to try and find these boys some fish. Any advice would be appreciated. Gator
  15. Henry, just a bit of online info for you. The "site" is bassresource.com, and this is the forum where multiple topics are discussed. What your refering to is a thread, or topic, specifically "So you want to learn Rayburn" or "So you want to learn Toledo Bend". Not doggin ya, just trying to enlighten you. Have you found the "Best of" thread in the general bass fishing section. If not add it to your reading. There is lots of good information. Now Back to Rayburn, Feb 1, the tourney what marina are they using, and can you trailer? G
  16. I think the boys had a good time, even though they didnt catch. There were a lot of folks at the weigh in that didnt catch. Having got the first one under their belt they know some things to work on and Im sure they will improve. On the way home we talked about what went right and what need improvement. Between now and their next one on Feb 1, they will be working on their casting abilities, and hopefully I can get the boat in the water for them to work on boat control. They are both new to trying to keep the boat in the sweet spot if you want to call it that. All in all, I feel like it was a pretty good day. Thanks for all yalls help. Gator
  17. Has there been any more discussion about the proposed tourney/meetup for February? Would sure like to see that happen. G
  18. Henry add this to your reading list. I did. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/76292-demystifying-structure/ There are also some more links on the second page that appear to be worth reading as well. Catt, may I send you a message? thanks Gator
  19. Hey yall, Im the boat driver for Henry, and Im open to suggestions as to where to go. Early weather reports today are showing 44 for a low and 70 for a high, and calling for 5-10mph winds. We will be in a 20' Broadhead so we should be safe to launch at Fin and Feather if thats a good area to fish out of. All of my experience on Toledo is South of 6 Mile on the Tx side. Ive heard a lot of good things about Housen over the years, so im thinking that we might want to head that way. Ill have to break out the map and see what I can find that looks good out in that area this evening. Im going to try and sit down with Henry to look at the map and decide where we want to try. It sounds like we should be looking for main creek channels, with good depth, then focusing on areas which offer good cover, preferably grass in the 15' range, with good drop offs and other types of cover. I told Henry when I agreed to captain their boat that I was NOT good at finding the fish. I try to think like a fish, but Ive found that they are smarter than I am. thanks for yalls help. Gator
  20. Its similar to an xpress, but heavier 3/16" aluminum. Fully decked, just like a fiberglass boat. As for fast, not really, the boat is pretty heavy and very wide. Best Ive got is 46 WOT on GPS. The engine is a 2.0L 150, a newer engine with a larger displacement would probably help a good bit. That will come in time. The boat is vesy stable, Ive walked the rails around the entire boat and she hardly lists at all.
  21. Its a Broadhead, made by a company in Orange Texas, they are no longer in business. G
  22. This is mine. Shes not new but she will last forever. Need to recarpet and get new seats, but Im pretty happy otherwise. 20' of 3/16 aluminim goodness and she rides at least as good as my dads 18'4" 91 Champ. G
  23. Thanks for the tip on the wright mcgill Rick Clunn series 7 ft crank bait rods. I just ordered 2 of them, and their guaranteed for Christmas. Just what I need, more rods lol. Thanks Gator
  24. Whens the tournement gonna be, is registration closed? If not Id love to go, as long as its after Christmas and not on one of the weekends that the high school tournements are being held Im available. I have a boat if needed, 20' Broadhead. She old and slow but stable and safe. Or Id be happy to be a back seat guy. Yall catch a bigun. Gator
  25. Yep its another hunting weekend for me too. But I do need to try and get up that way. Ive going to be captaining a boat for a high school touneyment up there in a few weeks and Id like to find them some fish. Weather doesnt sound too bad this weekend other than being a bit windy. G
