  1. The bite was pretty dang good on Friday...Got a number of 4-5 lbrs, but they were still in deeper water (16-18ft). I expect them to start moving up later this week in get their feed on!
  2. I will throw a jig that flairs out more when it is on the bottom, stands upward, and has a bulkier profile, which gives it a slower gliding fall that the bass cannot stand. The NorthStar Black Series has been doing very well for me so far - http://www.northstarbaits.com/black_series.html
  3. We designed the Black Series to excel in the fall, so throw them all day with confidence!
  4. Thanks for the great review Richard! We're confident that you will have the same success with the KO jig as you have with our other products. The KO jig will be a great summer time jig for flipping/pitching with the alien head model and fishing deeper rock with the football head model, which will give us a jig for all seasons and fishing conditions.
  5. Keep fishing with one claw...Plastics are expensive nowadays and I have caught plenty of fish on one claw when I wasn't even aware one had ripped off.
  6. How did you do Jeff? The bite was tough for us on Saturday, but I had a giant on that slipped off my dropshot.
  7. NorthStar "New Gill" Swim Jig or Flip & Swim I also like to throw paddletail swimbaits as a trailer or on a weighted ewg hook.
  8. Looks like a great meal for any bass trying to put ona few lbs for winter!
  9. NorthStar Hair jigs LC Pointer - Female Bluegill Buzzbait
  10. Try a 7" or even 10" straight tail worm - you might change your outlook on this rig.
  11. This is a great picture for our Sept/Oct. photo contest that we're running on the Facebook page. Send this to northstarcustombaits@gmail.com to be entered and follow us on Facebook to see if you have won!
  12. I can't wait to see "Choas" in person, that is the color I am REALLY looking forward to throwing!
  13. unfortunately, this is the case :/
  14. I think I have about 50 too....but that's just with my Norman DD22's! My name is Nick and I am a crank addict.
  15. For what you described, the NorthStar Flip & Swim is EXACTLY what you want, so when you do put in your order make sure to get these.
  16. Like hooah said, learn about the bass themselves...feeding patterns, weather changes/effects, etc. and this will help you know what and how to present the bass with a tasty meal I would start with versatile baits such as senkos and jigs. I like to throw senkos either t-rigged (weightless or wacky) and on a weighted wacky jig head in deeper water. Also, I recommend NorthStar Custom Baits Black Series jigs in 3/8 oz for all around fishing - they are going to be killer here in the fall!
  17. I don't ever trim my NorthStar skirts. I feel like they are already a perfect length for me, but there are some other jigs I have used where I needed to trim them a bit to allow my trailer to move.
  18. NorthStar Flip & Swim is the most versitile bait on the market because he can flip it into heavy cover or swim the jig in deeper water without missing a beat. I like to pair this with a Big Hammer swimbait or Paca Craw NorthStar Black Series is another one of my favorites and I like to throw a pit chunk on them. And finally it is hard to beard a NorthStar hair jig in the colder seasons tipped with a zoom chunk
  19. 1) Brush hog might be a good trailer, but I would stay away from zoom flukes because you want some type of action from your trailer or else it is pointless. I generally am throwing either a) craw b ) swimbait c) grub. 2) I catch 75% of my fish througout the year on swim jigs. They are the most versatile bait you can throw IMHO. When the water starts heating up you can find them early in the morning up shallow with a swim jig and move out to deeper water and throw a Flip & Swim around weedlines, rock piles, and eveb better, both! 3) Jigs can be thrown anywhere! When the bite slows down, throw a NorthStar Premier or Black series jig and hop it off the bottom...rememeber to choose your head design according to what cover you're fishing....rock = football, arky = wood, alien = grass. 4) I throw my swim jigs on 7' MH F Dobyns Saavy rod and love it!
  20. NorthStar New Gill Swim Jig or Flip & Swim Lake Fork Craw Tube in Junebug...Yeah, I said it!
  21. 1) NorthStar 3/8 oz New Gill Swim jig 2) NorthStar 3/8 oz PB & J Premier Jig 3) Norman DLN - Redear
  22. 1/4 & 3/8 oz in swim jigs and 1/2 & 3/4 oz in Flip & Swim. The flip & swims are great around heavier cover because they have a heavy wire hook and a head design that is perfect for coming through cover cleanly. You can also swim these jigs without having them roll, which creates a VERY versatile bait. As far as colors go, kentucky blue grass, black/blue, new gill, bull gill, and green pumpkin blue are my favorites. The great thing about these jigs is that the possibilites are endless when it comes to trailers!
  23. Every since I got my boat this last spring I have been using the Mercury Quickclean products...Anyone else using just these products and not a star-tron ro Sta-bil?
