I hate to admit it but I actually like Spam. When I was growing up, you know when American Bandstand was the raciest thing on T-V-- a Spam sandwich was one of my favorites. I am really sad to see that this site is so anti Spam. Is baloney ok?

- El Salto July 2012
I was at El Salto, Anglers Inn the same week Jeff was at Baccarac but only for 3 days fishing. I have been going to Anglers Inn twice a year for the past 8 years and like Jeff said, it can be a real trip of a lifetime. Most years I go in May and November, but this year my schedule required December (26th-30th) and July trips. The weather in July is about the same as any other time of the year ----the days are longer and thus more hours available for fishing. Also, it is not as cool in the mornings in July. Otherwise, the weather is about the same. The secret really is that in june and july both lakes are substantially lower due to use for irrigating crops--all kinds of crops if you know what I mean. This means that the 90% of the fish have a much smaller area to occupy and tend to be stacked in closer in fewer areas. I did not boat anything larger than 11 pounds, which is my pb, but I did catch a large number of 8, 9, and a few 10's. In one session in the afternoon I got into a school and caught over 35 fish in one area. During that time in one stretch I caught 10 (or maybe 11, I honestly lost count) in consecutive casts. I have done this before in November and May but not every November and May--so this was a special trip from that stand point. Of those 35 I caught: no more than 5 were less than 5 pounds. All were caught on a 1.5 oz rattle trap and 4" storm swim shad. The remainder of the 200 fish I boated on this trip were caught on a 6" senko (both wacky and texas rigged); 6 and 8 inch yum lizards and a few small ones on topwater (popper and sammy). I did boat a few on a 5" storm swim shad this trip. None of the fish I caught had huge bellies on them like the ones Jeff caught at Baccarac. It seems that Baccarac was getting more rain and the lake was rising a lot more than at El Salto. The bass were feeding on a lot of shad and talapia at El Salto and apparrently were doing the same at Baccarac. Either Baccarac or El Salto, both are awesome fisheries and one can only hope they continue to be. I believe they are only about 3 hours drive from one another. Anglers Inn at El Salto is a bit easier to get to than Baccarac, but both offer great fishing and are well worth the money and effort to get to.- El Salto July 2012

Be careful. A friend of mine had the same thing you seem to have. As it turned out his optic nerve had become crossed with his rectal nerve and he had a real crappy outlook on life for years. He recovered and is about the happiest single guy I know.- I Think I Need Help
Yeah, I can see how it could take weeks of one-on-one instruction to teach her to fish.- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
We are all members of the Forum and all invited. However, I sometimes question whether I should aspire to be a part of any organization that would have me as a member.- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
If you want to see what the largemouth look like at Pickwick, check out my pic on the Home Page with Tom Branch. Yes, it is none other than Dinky with some dinky largemouths at Pickwick. Or, as Rhino would say--nice bait.- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
Yes, but at least I didn't chop it into tiny pieces and boil it in milk and call it 'chowda'.- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!

Nice bunch of fish, Scorcher. You can always take your 'friend' to St. Clair for some smallies and maybe she'll keep taking you back to the pond.- 3 New Pb's In About An Hour

Caught these in Erie Basin last Thursday and Friday.- Does Charlie Moore Know How To Fish?
Obviously everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, though forming it from watching folks on fishing shows only seems a bit narrow minded. I have actually fished with Ish in an Open tournament and he is a professional and a gentleman. I have been around him many times since and he has always been unpretentious, respectful and friendly. I have never fished with Ike but have attended Bass U. and was able to spend some time with him. He is either a very sincere unpretentious person or a fantastic actor. I have seen the shows you refer to and really do not see the same qualities in these two that you do.- 2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
Sorry Zip --was so wrapped up in trying to figure out how to get the pics on the site I wasn't paying attention. I will delete them.- 2012 Roadtrip! Be There!
I only wish I could remember how I got these to my gallery in the first place.- Which Would You Rather?
