  1. I never was all that impressed by the Mojo series. It looks to be an OK rod for the price but it just did not seem to do the St. Croix name justice. The biggest thing to me, as well, was it felt tip heavy. I was more impressed by the Falcon Bucoo.
  2. I lived in Nashville for a year while in college and my apartment was 15 minutes from opry mills mall. Needless to say I lived at Bass Pro while I was in college ;D Now that I'm back home I am nowhere near a BPS. Every couple of months I have to go to Atlanta for work and I always take ride to the Atlanta BPS. I have never been to a Cabelas. Hopefully I will find one one of these days.
  3. My dad recently picked up 2 silver max at a local store for $15 a piece. It is a nice reel for the price (great reel for $15) but the Curado E is in a completely different class. I could not get the silver max to cast near as far as a his curado. Basically you get what you pay for. I was really impressed with the silver max at it's price point, but its not in the same league as the curado IMO. If you are looking for a good smooth reel you can't go wrong with the new Curado E's.
  4. They are very yellow... I checked out a few at my local Dick's. Seemed like a nice rod. I did not like the rubberish grip very much, or the blinding yellow color.
  5. I never keep bass. Bass don't have much taste IMO, and every winter I catch enough crappie to last year round. Whether the bass dies or not, I will not keep it. If one does die I believe a catfish or another fish or even a bird will be able to make a meal out of it at least. I still hate to see a bass not make it :-[
  6. Go 6'6" for a happy medium since you don't know what exactly it is going to be used for. I prefer 6'6" - 7' for most of my spinning tackle.
  7. I don't have any experience it, but the new Shimano Stradic CI4 looks pretty sweet. I am pretty sure another member posted a review on it not too long ago.
  8. I just replaced my $10 Wal-Marts with a pair of Fish Eye's I found at Gander Mt. for $20. Has anybody had any experience with Maui Jim shades? I checked them out at Gander Mt. and really liked those. It seems everybody likes Costa Del Mar, so they must be very high quality. I really liked the Wiley-X P-17 as well.
  9. I personally would go with the BCR803 versus the BCR802 for jig application. I like the extra power when working jigs. I almost bought a BCR803 for jig use, but came to my senses after I saw the price tag :-[ I went with the Falcon Cara T7 6'10" MHF instead, and I love it. Like others have said it is now my "plastics and jigs" rod. As far as tubes go, I normally use spinning tackle with tubes because I mostly fish tubes weightless. I am no expert and have a lot of trouble getting a weightless 3" tube to go more than 10' with a baitcaster!
  10. Hey there. Me and my dad just started fishing Lake Guntersville this year and have not caught as much as I know can be caught there. I was looking for any good local guides that would have a saturday to show me around the lake, or even just somebody that needs a fishing buddy. Any tips on the lake would be greatly appreciated. So far I really like this lake. I normally fish Wheeler and Wilson, but now Guntersville has become my favorite lake. Please PM me any info on guides or anybody that wouldn't mind taking me along on a fishing trip (I would gladly pay for any expenses). Thanks.
  11. Only 3 hours? ;D The best tackle store I have near me is a Gander Mt., but I do go to Atlanta about once a month for buisiness (I am here right now as a matter of fact). Georgia Mall is only about 30 min. away from my hotel so I live in Bass Pro while down here. Nothing like a good afternoon spent drooling over things I cant afford!
  12. I personally don't have much experience with them but my dad just bought a Curado 200 E7 for worms and jigs and he loves the extra speed. He has stated that he finds himself fishing too fast at times. I still like my old Curado BSF personally 8-)
  13. If this helps it was 15 lb. tests. I know the line can't be slipping on the spool because I ran the line through the holes in the spool, then tied just for that reason. I will try casting as far as possible and pulling line out when I get back in town Big Tom. Thanks for the suggestions.
  14. Hey guys. After reading several posts about how good this line was I decided to try it out myself. All in all the line is great. The only problem I have with it is it spooled on my reel sort of loose I guess, whenever I hang up the line will dig into the line on the spool really bad and I have to pull out a lot of line to remedy the problem. Any suggestions? I have only used it one trip. Do I just need to fish it some more? It is on a Abu Silver Max about 3/4 of the spool filled.
  15. Ok thanks for the input guys. I think I am going to go ahead and buy a Falcon.
  16. I have caught many good smallies on Wilson off points using my own bear hair jigs and a black or brown pig. Most of my smallmouth fishing is done at night on Wilson, and my number one lure is a black/brown jig. Bear hair seems to have a lot better action under water than buck tail or coon tail, and I seem to get more bites. Smallies are also very active below the dam while generating. Letting the water push your boat back and bumping the rocks with a sassy shad is deadly.
  17. Hello to everybody. I have been reading this forum for a while, but am new to posting. I have read a lot of posts in this topic and have seen what most users reccomend for rods in the <$200 range like Powell, Kistler, St. Croix, Falcon, and other so I took a trip to Bass Pro while I was out of town for buisiness. I fell in love with the Falcon Cara T7. I REALLY wanted to touch a Powell after reading so much good stuff about it, but can't find any aroud here! But as for the topic, has anybody had any experience with the warranty service for Falcon rods? I would really like to know how they stand behind their rods before I purchase one. Also the rod I am planning on purchasing is the CC-5-1610S.
