Welcome! You will love this place.
  2. I dont think it is bad at all for fisheries if there are bass kept. I personally am a C&R guy but if I saw someone pull a 6 pounder out and keep it...that wouldn't make me mad. Heck it would make me happy because atleast i would know the body of water I'm fishing does produce some nice bass...lol. If every fish were released then there would be problems with overpopulation across the board.
  3. I have been told there are some good ponds on this base to bass fish. I heard there was around 20 or 30 or so. Has anyone fished here? I live about an hour away and am wanting to make it down there sometime if the fishing is good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Just bought this boat over the weekend and I am very happy with it. It is light enough that i can load and unload it by myself. Very cheap way to get yourself off the bank and to be able to hit the spots you always look at from the bank but cant get to. Does anyone else have one of these?
  5. I dont know if you have already went through with buying your boat or not yet. I bought myself the 8' pond prowler last week. I love this little thing. It says you can fish two people on it but i dont really see how. But for one person it works great. I bought the 99 dollar trolling motor from BPS too. I beleive it is called the bass prowler or something like that. Its a 30 lbs thrust and it makes that little boat go so fast it creates wake behind it. I also like it because it fits perfectly on the back of my truck with the tail gate down and it is really easy for me to load and unload by myself. Good luck on purchasing your boat and believe me does it ever broaden your horizons fishing from a boat vs bank sishing ponds.
  6. I tried out the shaky head on the 7" Anaconda over the weekend and it worked great!
  7. Not really sure if that statement is true.....I have been fishing this little pond close to my house for a couple of weeks now and my fav spot to fish is this little brush pile close to the bank. I've been using a watermelon finesse worm and steadily catching 1 1/2 to 2 pounders. So last night i decided to tie on a magnum finesse worm t- rigged and second cast one pounded it hard. I was using my wife's old push button zebco...lol. it took me 10 mins to reel this bad boy in. A lot of fun! It is my biggest catch so far. Definitely not a trophy bass but i was thrilled to catch it! This picture doesnt really do it justice since it was taken on my camera phone but i believe it was 3 or 3 1/2 lbs.
  8. Right now my favorite is the zoom watermelon seed finesse worms. but im hoping after this weekend my favorite will be the 10" rage tail anaconda. been hearing great things!
  9. yeah i'm definitely going to pick some up this weekend at BPS. i cant wait to try them out. hopefully i will have some good pics to share of my trip this weekend. thanks again for all of the input guys.
  10. Nice pics! Those are the kind of fish I'm going for! I'm going to Bass Pro ASAP to pick some up. Thanks for all of the advice everyone!
  11. Does anyone out there know of any good clubs to join around Beaufort, SC? I just moved here and I'm stationed at the air station down here. I've only heard of hunting clubs on base. Any help would be great. I'm fairly new at bass fishing and I think by joining a club it would help my fishing skills out tremendously.
  12. Thanks for all the great info on the replies! I love topwater fishing and all of this info definitely helps me out!
  13. I am fairly new at bass fishing and my cousin turned me on to the shakyhead. I love using this for finesse worms. It seems to me that the bass cant leave it alone. Can I use this jig head with a 7" or 10" Anaconda or would it take away from the action of the worm?
  14. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely keep that in mind next time I post a question about anything.
  15. I have been hearing a lot of talk about the new rage tail baits. Has anyone out there tried any of these? In particular the anaconda 7" or 10" worm. What works the best out of these rage tail baits? I'm wanting to try them out but need to know if I am waisting my time or not. Thanks for any help!
  16. How's it going everybody? I have really gotten hooked on bass fishing this year. I never knew how addicting it could be to feel that beautiful fish fighting on the end of your line until late spring this year when i was fishing a farm pond in Blacksburg, SC. From what i had read the time didnt seem right for the fish to be feeding on topwater like they were. When i had no bites on various lures I threw I started seeing fish jump all over the pond so I tied on a Torpedo topwater bait and threw it out. Man!!! That is some exciting stuff to see a bass jump out of the water and go after your bait. Once I hooked the first one I realized what all of the hype is about. Since then I have been trying to fish as much as possible. I am now venturing into the soft plastic worm world. My cousin recommended the shakyhead jig. It has been working exceptionally well for me in the past couple of weeks. It is awesome to see that line start to drift and set that hook hard and feel it fighting on the end of the line! Nothing like it! Well thank you to everyone on here dedicated to the sport. I have read many of the forums and tons of articles on this website that have helped me out tremendously. I love this sport and I love this fish! God bless the bass fisherman!!!
