  1. Haha I have been fishing since I was 2! But really, I used to use some of the reels my dad had laying around in the basement, Old Abasadours, an old Shimano BantamMag, and a 15 year old quantum energy spining reel. So I got some knowledge on the subject. By the way still have a bigger PB than you do, Jack
  2. A three year old standard poodle. just let the hair grow and they are awesome. none of the usual hair cuts with the poofs and such. also had a black lab who recently passed. very sad, but she had a great life. Daisy was one talented retrievers and one of the most loyal animals ever. RIP Daisy
  3. Code with fome grips... code is decent and pretty light, but there are much better reels for the price-point.
  4. really... look at what we were using 15 years ago... we all got through reels that were "heavy"! if you can catch fish youre fine. the only reason to have arm problems is if you are a nancy boy!
  5. KVD but if I have to pick someone without superpowers... I think Christie is the best regular human in the field.
  6. I tightened up the nut and the handle feels really solid now.
  7. Speed spool, It is a great little reel, or a Curado E 200 or 50 if you could find them.
  8. I wouldnt worry about it if you can get a new rod. However if they dont exchange it at the store you could always try sending it to St. Croix. Your rod should not have broken like this, you probably got a bad one. Yes it could have been user error, but then again it probably wasn't. Hopefully you can get a new one, keep us posted.
  9. I use 12# trilene xl for cranks. I like the stretch it provides so I don't tear the trebles out from a fish. Also for top waters because it floats and it wont tear out the hooks on a spook when a fish is on. Otherwise I use floro or braid.
  10. Maybe I never noticed it before. But that would make sense. I just don't want to tighten the nut down to tight and mess any thing else up if it is supposed to be that way.
  11. My 200e7 handle seems to be loose. It is not the Anti reverse but the handle its self. I have never taken it off, or messed with the nut that keeps it tightened down. Is it possible for it to loosen over time? Can I just solve this by taking the cap off and then tightening the nut down. Do I have to worry about over tightening the nut or should I just get it as tight a possible? -Jack
  12. Basspro Nitro Tournament Z reel With an Abu Garcia Vendetta about $130 Here are the links to these products below. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops®-Nitro-Tournament-Z-LowProfile-Baitcast-Reels/product/1201111008121/363093 http://www.basspro.com/Abu-Garcia-Vendetta-Trigger-Rods/product/10203992/37949
  13. That was a bit harsh. I should have said I don't think it is a good idea to be new to the boards and begin a crusade for Shimano agianst all other reel manufacturers. It just doesn't go over well or sound very smart. My nicer .02
  14. Who are you?... Like really who are you? You show up 2 weeks ago and now you are telling us what reels are trash and what arent. is this just what you have read or do you have expereince with the newer stuff thats not Shimano? Have you used a revo? Road warrior, and a lot of the other guys that are pushing shimano have a great reputation and you can almost always take them seriously. They don't say something unless they have first hand experience. You though, get your rep up!
  15. I had a catfish dorsal spine go through and through my left index finger and break off just behind the nail. I pulled the spine out by the point with a pair of needle nose. I had two nasty little wholes on top of my finger and had to throw my t shirt away it was so bloody. How ever like Fishing Rhino said I soaked in hot water, as well as washed with rubbing alcohol and then coated with antibiotic cream. It didn't get infected but was pretty nasty looking for a few weeks.
  16. I got 4 today all after 8pm, seems the heat makes them pretty inactive until sundown.
  17. Indianapolis, fishing the white river
  18. My Curado 200e7 fell off my kayak and into the water for about a second today. It was completely submerged but didn't touch the bottom or get sand in it (water only went just above the reel seat). Anyway I fished about 30 more minutes and it felt fine, but is there any thing I should do to make sure it stays working properly since it fell in?
  19. I have a crucial for those applications and it works great.
  20. Can we put the premier into this question too? How does it do throwing 1/4oz weights?
  21. Yeah, I saw they were on clearance! Might have to give them a look. Thanks for all the input, Jack
  22. I need a new reel and am planning to spend up to $200. I am going to put it on a Shimano crucial 6'9 jig and worm model. I currently have a curado 200e on that rod but want to put that reel on a different rod. I am considering a lews tourney pro, and the chronarch 50e? Other suggestions would be appreciated.
  23. Thanks a bunch for the feed back i will look into that stuff!
