I've been fishing mendon this past summer and i've found a couple spots that have worked for me from shore. Mostly the little foot bridge on Deep pond has been the best. I've been fishing it with a 3" t-rigged shad around the lilly pads. Nothing too exciting but draged close to 20 dinks out of there. This last weekend i got lucky with a 1/8 spinner in the same spot. I'm curious if anyone else has reccemendations for fishing those ponds too.

So I finally broke down and bought a boat. Nothing special, just a 14' canoe. Something I can tool around the local ponds with. Anyways, I take it out on mendon ponds yesterday and me and a friend caught 3 of the biggest bass we've gotten our hands on so far. He got the first one, the others were mine. Anyone got any reccemendations for where / how to fish Mendon Ponds or Durand Eastman park? they're pretty much what i can get to on the weekends w/o annoying the girl.

Well, I've kept up the good fight and I increased my PB by a significant ammount. Caught 3 this trip out, the other 2 being a lot smaller then this guy. Caught him on a 3" white/black Gulp minnow.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. I hooked a pike in the same ponds but after a few seconds of fighting all i got back was the shredded line... Anyone got any suggestions for fishing the Rochester area? At this point i have no access to a boat, but i've got a good selection of equipment to work with. Mendon ponds and surrounding area are really convienient for me to work with after work. Is this just too shallow to work from the shores?

So there she is, my new PB since starting up fishing last weekend. Hoping to make it again this weekend. Thanks for all the great info on the site here, now I just need to turn some of this knowledge into hands on experience and see if i can't push that PB up in size a little...

For fishing on foot around Durand where would you park? I tried mendon ponds (100 acre) but only caught 1 small SMB and a bunch of sunnies once i gave up on bass for the day.

Kind of ironic, I just found the site today and i'm from Rochester as well, over on the ER side. Picked up fishing again this past weekend after a pretty successful trip to the 1000 islands. Haven't touched my rods in almost 3 years now.
