  2. I purchased a lot of lures, literaly, off of Ebay. Some are newer than others. I believe some of them our vintage and may be worth a little bit of money. Unfortunatley I dont know that much about the subject or even how to identify them. Is there anyone here that would be able to help me out in identifying them and maybe give me an idea of what they may be worth. If your able to help me I can post pictures. Thanks,
  3. I have a Baby Torpedo that the propeller will not spin in the water. I have tried every thing from unscrewing the back treble hook a little to allow more room for it to move. I've tried bending the blades in different directions...Nothing. It spins just fine out of the water, when i spin it by hand. Just not in the water. Any sugestions.
  4. Cant make it. The one weekend day a month that my wife has to work. I'm on baby duty. Catch you all next time.
  5. 2 things about this place. 1. I went in and noticed that they are carying some nice fishing gear this year. Some higher end brands of reels and rods. Also a pretty good selection of lures. Was quite surprised. 2. That there is a pond right behind it. The guy at the sporting goods counter said that it is owned by Wallmart and was there for water run off from the parking lot. Near the tire center. Has anyone ever fished here before. I went down there last night for a little bit. Guess what, somone must have put some fish in it because I even caught a small dink. This is promising b/c it is only 3 min from my house. Just wanted to know if anyone else has fished here before?
  6. OK, so I'm back from lunch. Just tried out my new set up. Didn't catch anything. Initial impressions are that the rod seems very sensitive, I think it will be ok. The reel on the other hand, I'm not quite sold on it yet. I'm using the braid spool w/ 12 lb dia. Spider Wire Stealth. I felt like I had to reel harder to retrieve the line. I felt like I was doing more of the work then the reel was. Kind of like when you line goes over top of the tip of your rod and it gets harder to reel. Now I don't usually fish braid so I'm not sure if this is normal and I'm just not used to it or not. After work, I'll try it w/ 8lb. mono. I'm also not sure if it is because the top eye on the rod is very small. I'm not sure that this makes a difference of not. I'll try the reel w/ a different rod and see if that makes a difference. On the bright side it did seem to cast slightly further w/ less effort.
  7. I just bought the JM40. I paired it with a 6'6 med action Bionic Blade. Havent used it yet. Going for a few min on my lunch break. My office buiding is on a pond/lake. I'll report back and let you know what I think. BTW, got them on sale. Reel was 80, and rod was 60. Normaly 100, and 80.
  8. I have done very well w/ a black 3/8 Terminator. I'm gonna have to pick up some Cavitrons.
  9. I just bought some ZMAN Chatter Baits. What type of trailer should I use w/ them. They came w/ some but there has to be somthing better than that to use. Thanks
  10. All this talk of Powatan Lakes....I had to go and buy a Jon Boat. I found one on craigs list. 10 ft aluminum boat w/ 2 seats and a 30 lb Minn Kottta trolling motor for $200. Just hope I have time to get it registered before the meet and greet. Now I just need a battery and one of those telescopeing portable fish finders from BPS, and I'll be ready to go.
  11. **Update** I ended up purchasing a 10 aluminum Jon Boat w/ 2 swivel seats, 30 lb thrust Minn Kotta. $200, in good condition.
  12. I'm out at LKA quite often. My best friends parents live there. They're in the Gerdome Island neighborhood, off of Moody Town Rd. It's nice to have a bass boat on the lift year round. Just put it in the water and go.
  13. I also think that Lake Rooty could use some pond/lake management. I wouldnt mind if when we all met up that some people keep the smaller fish, and transport them to Lake Echo right down the street, off of Springfield Rd. They dredged that lake 2 years ago, and it could use some help with the bass population. Any thoughts?
  14. I heard that the fishing at Powatan is not that great. Something about recently fixing the dam and restocking.
  15. I'm in if I can clear it with management aka the wife. Wish I would not have just given away all my Lake Rooty secretes in the other thread. I fish there a lot.
  16. From what I can tell about Lake Rooty is that it is about 3-4 deep all the way around except for right in the middle where the old creek bed is, it's about 8-12 feet there, maybe deeper. I have caught most of my big fish down by the bridge. I know if you stand on that concrete and cast out to the other side there is a ledge that drops off from 2 1/2 to about 4-5 feet. I usually catch fish when I cast past the ledge and bring it toward me and let it fall off the ledge. I also have good luck in the little inlet thing. You can almost always catch one in front of the storm drain. She hangs out there a lot. she will prob be around 4-5 lbs this year. I've also caught fish on the side opposite of the inlet, directly across from it. I think this is the closest spot to where the old creek bed is and your best chance at a long cast to it. I'm gonna get a small jon boat this year, and I'm gonna put it in there. No where on the signs does it say no boats!! I'll play dumb and wait till someone tells me that I cant do it.
  17. I fish Lake Rooty quite often. I work at Capital One so this is my main spot to fish. I've fished every spot of that lake and imo there is only a couple of spots that produce consistantly. The fishing there is slow, but produces nice size fish. Lots of 2-6 lb fish, some bigger. A black terminator buzz bait is my #1 producer. Senkos in baby bass color have worked well. I usually dont fish cranks here b/c of all the algae on the bottom. I'm now at east shore, down the street a little, and there is a lake here. I've already caught a few fish on my lunch break this year. Hope this helps.
  18. Hit up Clorebros.com This is what your looking for. It's in Fredricksburg. They rent canoes for like $35. They have a few different lengths of trips. You all meet at clore bros. Pack all your stuff in the trailer and bus. They take everyone up river like 20 miles. You float down the river some small rapids. Depending on how which trip you do you can make it a 2 day trip or 1 day. If you do the 2 day trip you go like half way, and then camp on the side of the river. Camp sites are all over w/ fire wood already cut for you. Pack you canoes, w/ beer, camping and fishing stuff. You can do just about what ever you want, no one around to bother you. Just make sure the water level is high enough.
  19. First off, thank you all for your oppinions. I have taken everything into consideration. I let the guy know that I'm going to try to sell the gun first. He was understanding, and said that he would still have the boat if I changed my mind. Thank you all for helping me to the right decision. I was not thinking clearly and got to excited when someone responed so quickly. And if anyone in VA wants a .38 spl. let me know.
  20. She would have not minded that I bought a boat, except that 2 weeks ago I came home w/ a new gun that w/ ammo and everything was well over $500. I never discussed it w/ her and just kind of did it. This you could say is my punnishment. LOL
  21. He said he thought it was a 8 or 9. Wasnt 100% sure. It's not that big of a deal to me. If it were a little bigger, that would be ok too.
  22. I just want something for small private ponds. Something I can throw in the back of the truck. My buddies parents have a house on the warm side of lake anna in VA. We can use his pops bass boat when ever we want. When were there, it's on the lift. My wifes father has a 21 ft mako on the lift on the Mattoponi river near Williamsburg. So I have pretty good access to boats for bigger water. I just want somthing small so that we fish some small ponds in the area that get little pressure, but are not much access from the shore.
  23. Ok so he just sent me some pics. http://luddite.net/ebay/albums/album02/IMG_0669.sized.jpg http://luddite.net/ebay/albums/album02/IMG_0672.sized.jpg http://luddite.net/ebay/albums/album02/IMG_0670.sized.jpg The trolling motor is a gamefisher 14 lb thrust, and works fine. He just hooked it up. Has fwd and reverse. What do you all think?
  24. I would trade the wife. But I'm gonna need a bigger boat. The boobs are at least worth 5k.
  25. I think I could probably get $325 if sell the gun. But then I'm limited. I have to find a boat and trolling motor for that price. This way, if the trolling motor is decent, I think I come out on top of this trade. Most jon boats on craigslist are going for $400 and up.
