  1. The Fuji KR Concept can not be fully employed without knowing the size of the reel being used and type of line. Take any marketing you see using this term with a grain of salt.
  2. Look at it this way, If your boss offered you a substantial raise, but in return you'd have to relinquish your Mac for a windows 7 desk top would smile and make it work?
  3. No one's mentioned most critical, must have , wait for it......... Dude Wipes!
  4. Not at all. It lays right in the well next to the seat and you don't get the umbrella effect that can happen when you strap rods into a bundle. I got it specifically for keeping my co-angler stuff organized. I kept a 4 tray bag under my feet and a small duffle with dry pack, misc extra tackle and dry snacks that always went in a corner of a deck compartment.
  5. When I fished with Orange County Bassmasters out of Middletown we always started the season at Candy since CT will allow weigh-ins during Catch and release seasons. It's a tremendous fishery that gives up good bags in spite of heavy tournament pressure. Sure, you have to figure them out but the patterns are pretty typical.
  6. I have one of these and love it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fishing-Pole-Rod-Carrying-Case-Tackle-Bag-with-Shoulder-Strap-Inside-Storage-/201152881031
  7. Snakes, rodents, birds, surprisingly large baitfish, bugs
  8. There are generic brands too, but the idea of a mild detergent with just enough abrasive to clean without altering shape is the main idea.
  9. I'd wait on the hand wrapper and dryer for two reasons. One, you may find this just isn't for you and have invested more than you can recoup. Second and more importantly, by hand turning the first rod or two you'll gain tremendous insight into how the epoxy behaves. While this may seem tedious (and it is) it will shorten the learning curve where finishing is concerned and that's the most difficult element to master imo.
  10. The PQ is an tremendous bargain at the upcoming sale price and well beyond a "beater".
  11. I skied in the 80's and if I looked like that I'm jumping in the hot tub time machine and goin back to B____ Slap myself.
  12. Are Wynonah or Ontelaunee any good? There's some park land on the shore so there should be access.
  13. I never had any luck 'coon hunting in the bitter cold. A nice winter thaw though, another story.
  14. We have parks and ball fields that are almost unusable because of these things. The season should be open for 11 months a year as far as I'm concerned.
  15. Concentrate on accuracy. That will put more more fish in the boat than bombing casts. Let the rod do the work. Muscling a cast is a shortcut to backlash city. This goes along with prior advice about using the proper rod.
  16. That would stand to reason as AmTack supplies the Microwave Guides too.
  17. The 30* stripper may make too sharp on angle when the level wind is on the far end. This may be mitigated if the stripper is pushed out a little further than usual.
  18. Batson has some entry level blanks, but the CRB lone from Mudhole are really inexpensive and not bad at all.
  19. I would recommend to anyone starting out to choose some conservative components for the first few builds. Even if you love it at first as you go through the learning curve one day you'll look back and think to yourself, wow what was I doing? lol
  20. The microwave guide system is a nice feature on spinning rods and perform exceptionally well. I'm not sold the casting setup. They won't hurt anything but the claims are bit of a reach imo. The blanks are likely a typical intermediate modulus from one of the common sources. Not a bad thing, but nothing innovative either. Once someone gets to handle one we'll know more. Aesthetically, ummmm to each his own. No worse than the orange carrot sticks or hideous yellow skeet rods. The name, what's in a name? The Enigma & Aaron's references will likely become more common than the Edge.
  21. That's a $7-$10 repair for a local rod-smith. Unless you have an interest in rod building I'd skip the DIY route. You could likely make it functional, but the repair will be obvious.
  22. I don't think the land locked Alewives and Herring run upstream like the river run ones. They'll spawn in spring starting a little before the bass and be extra active at night. By July they've moved offshore and the smallies follow them. I think this is the reason fishing on Wallepaupack gets so tough later in the season. I've had some good days personally fishing jerkbaits there when the water warms into the mid 40's.
  23. They have a lot of different models, which one are you looking at? Is this to build yourself? There are lots of good blanks to choose from. Don't be too eager to be sold on one brand. Give an idea about what the rod will be for and the budget and it's easier to make good recommendations. Check your PM. If this is in regard to a MH casting blank that we discussed, the fast action is fast and crisp. The ones I've worked with had a nice loading tip but not what I would describe as "soft".
  24. There are a number of tutorials and equipment suggestions to be found on the rod building forums. A place like Decal Connection makes it so easy to just order though.
