What Reel Do I Have?
That's one of the reels affectionately referred to as old greenies. I Think they were a 6.x:1. They are tanks and cast well when cleaned and set up.

Question About Lure Weight On Rods
Lure weight rating (usually a range in fractions of an oz) and power rating (M/MH/H....) have a correlation but are not one in the same as I look at it. A given rod may have a tip that will load and cast a given weight but may have a ton of backbone allowing for fishing in heavier cover. Such a rod may have a Heavier rating than another with similar casting ability but less power in the butt. With no industry standard and only subjective terminology, only personal experience will tell for sure, and trusted feedback as is found here can point toward likely options.

Balancing Out Rods
There is no right or wrong way to balance a rod. The feel is a personal preference. I almost never add any weight to a bass rod and the builds feel pretty good in hand even if I do say so myself.

Rod Torque A Bass Issue
I won't claim to be an expert on physics, but in my mind I feel that rotational torque would be more noticeable in a longer rod with more guides pulled by the line. I wouldn't expect action to play much of a role as we don't fish on just one plane. The tip can't twist relative to the grip as the blank is one piece and the guides distribute stress along the entire length.

Been Looking A Lot Into Rod Building Lately... Got A Couple Of Questions
Tip top adhesive is the better choice. It's durable and easier to remove should the need arise.

Rod Torque A Bass Issue
Rod torque is a factor whenever a casting Rod is loaded. Obviously the heavier the load the more of a factor it is. All things are relative, guide size for instance, weight for another. Spiral wrapping also proves line flow, but again the degree can be argued. Spiral wrapping done properly is not a gimmick nor is it a cure all.

It's seasonally busy. Turn around is about 4 weeks as of today. I see fr your location you have open water so I'll rush whatever you send. Thanks.

Tackle The Storm Rod Build
Finish is the hardest step of the whole process and micro guides don't make it any easier. If I can offer a suggestion, you can use the edge of a sheet of paper to wick the excess off around the tunnels in front of the guide. That's a nice build for a good cause.

Are The Expensive Rods Really Worth It?
My recommendation is scew whatever budget you have for a combo toward the Rod for "feel" presentations and the reel for fast moving baits. The point of diminishing return on production rods is around $275. Anything over or under for that matter it's well worth consulting a custom builder. When it comes to reels returns diminish at around $250 for spinning and $300 for casting reels. None of this means you can't be successful and enjoy fishing less expensive tackle.

Televised Fishing Tournament Lack Anticipation Of Outcome.
I'd much rather watch a recap show reporting on all the tourneys for the week with highlights interviews and some where why how thrown in. Even then most of what they share is BS. I like MLF because the production is the driving force behind it.

Been Looking A Lot Into Rod Building Lately... Got A Couple Of Questions
Static testing is about properly distributing the stress along the loaded blank. Don't worry too much about line touching the blank. As long as it doesn't dip below the blank or make sharp angles you're ok. Especially with low framed micros you'd use way too many guides to completely eliminate line touching a casting blank.

B.a.s.s. Announces Penalties For Monroe And Poche
I like that the co-anglers were refunded their entry but if these two are truly remorseful, they'll reimburse the co's for their travel expense. Not likely. So BASS pockets a few hundred and the amateurs are Sold-Out-of-Luck.

Yum Money Hound?
The two closest lakes to me are kinda choked with semi-emergent weeds I guess you could say. Big flats where a lot of grass is laying over on top but lots of holes where weeds don't break the surface. I fish frogs there but when I look at the Money Hounds I can envision what kickerfish describes. They're cheap enough to try I was just curious what you guys thought. Thanks for the input.

Reel Maintenance/painting Ma
I can help you with all the service and upgrades and offer a 10% labor discount to members here. I would refer custom painting to Calfish. Painting and mechanics are best handled by respective experts imo. I'm in Central NY. shipping ona single reel should be around $6. Let me know if you have any questions.

Been Looking A Lot Into Rod Building Lately... Got A Couple Of Questions
That's right, keep it very basic and simple in the beginning. Like with everything, there's a learning curve. Winding checks are sized by the diameter of the blank where they are to be installed. Some suppliers have a chart to help size components on their blanks and some will size them for you. There is a formula that will get you close but you still will want to order one above and blow to be safe. The most accurate of course is to get the blank, lay it out and measure.

Chronarch Ci4 Reviews And Opinions
Performance wise the Ci4+ and Curado I should be really close. They are on paper. The CH is an ounce lighter if that matters and the CU has the Balanced Spool feature. Feature for feature the CH is competitive with other brands at the price point. There's so many good reels to choose from now days you can feel good about just looking for a deal on something with the features that are important to you.
