Will a baitcasting rod and reel setup help me with bank fishing (over a spinning rod and reel)?
There are applications where I prefer one over the other but boat/bank doesn’t factor in.

Bought a used NRX 873C CRR that's sorta beaten up...
That rods been handled a little roughly. The finish itself isn’t integral my only concern would be the tough handling that led to it. If you load it fully and it holds up no harm done. Problem is if you load it and it breaks you’ll get blamed. Second hand is a good way to buy but is always a crap shoot. Good luck whatever you decide

Rod length for skipping question…
Ya the faster action likely requires an adjustment and perfect timing of the release point

What could be causing this problem?
Most likely the way you’re retrieving the line or an arbor or backing knot

Abu Garcia Revo Stagnation
ABU may not be cutting edge but a lot of so called cutting edge changes are just for the sake of change giving the marketing folks something to talk about.

Daiwa Fuego CT Bait Cast Reel - Still Best Bang For The Buck ?
Imo a toss up with the fuego. Both are better reels than Lews on paper. In use, personal preference is the tie breaker.

Does anybody use a Pflueger President XT Spinning Reel ?
I can’t testify to the President being less of a reel, but the competition sure has gotten stiffer.

Light power spinning rods...
Again, “Light” is a subjective label applied by the manufacturer. Such a rod may be appropriate if the lure weight range cover what you want to throw: Neds, small hair jigs, small inline spinners etc. Don’t get hung up on designations (L/ML/M…)

High end Bottom contact rod or two middle/upper tier rods? which would you do?
You get what you pay for up to a point, then reach the point of diminishing returns. This goes for almost every product on the market. That doesn’t mean high end products are not fun to own and use only that it’s a personal decision. You don’t need a $2000 driver to golf, but if you can and want to why not? Same goes for cars, bikes, bows you name it.

Can I use this "vintage" Lew's Speed Stick for baitcasting (#1-16HOBB)?
I’ve actually salvaged pistol grips off old rods and used them on new builds as a special request. There’s no right or wrong in any of this. Try it and use what you like.

Do I really have to spend $100+ for a true fast action medium rod?
What you’re describing is low power not slow action. But the real problem is that there are no industry standards and the specs and labels are subjective.

Braid gone bad?
The trade off for no stretch sensitivity is loss of shock absorption. Slack line hook sets, dig in or backlash throwing heavy baits, hard back casts etc can cause breaks.

Spinning reel quesiton
The outside diameter is the same so all should cast a given line the same way.

Bale trip on new shimano 2021 exsence
Delaware Valley Tackle replied to Newbrunswickbrookie's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsI wouldn’t classify either as lemons or defective. A little break in time followed by cleaning and lubrication will almost surely make a difference

SLX Bearing upgrade
ABEC was developed by an American association with global membership selling and distributing in the US not just manufacturing. A large distributor advertising ABEC ratings would be outed quickly as fighting counterfeiting is one their prime objectives. The whole industry is complicated and the intricacies are not of any real consequence in regard to the OP.

Rod Balancing
OP, what prompted you to start down this road? If it is looking for a feel you prefer, it may not be attainable with the starting point. If it was reading online about the “need” for “correct balance “ abandon the idea completely. A $200 rod you payed a good portion of that for light, rigid materials that I just can’t see weighing down.

SLX Bearing upgrade
Boca is one of the last places you’d get a counterfeit bearing. They’re a legit distributor. ABEC ratings are an industry standard used to compare apples to apples. You an get get quality bearings that have not been rated but the mere fact that they’re from Japan is no guarantee. The whole bearing thing blown out of proportion including the micro, air etc. it’s all marketing and that’s ok. Competition is tough. A clean, quality bearing properly lubricated will provide more free spool than you can use. All the rest is noise.

Punch / Flip / Jig / Carolina / Big Worms
That’s too wide of a weight range for one rod to cover imo. If you’re willing and able to adjust and compromise in the weight area any jig/worm rod should suffice

Reel noise question..
These things are impossible to diagnose sight unseen. “Noise” is more audible and unnatural and may indicate something needs to be addressed. “Sound” is is the mere turning of mechanical parts and some increase is inevitable as the reel breaks in and loosens up. If I had to guess, the latter is most likely. The pinion bearing is arguably the most over diagnosed cause of retrieve issues. If it worsens or just bugs you deep cleaning will never hurt. If you’re not comfortable with DIY feel free to send it in at your convenience.

SLX Bearing upgrade
Unless your bearings have been neglected to the point of damage, flushing and proper (light) lubrication e will do almost as much as new bearings. I’m not familiar with that specific kit but if you’re going to upgrade bearings, I recommend ceramic hybrid run dry.
