DVT offers another good suggestion. I have 3 Gloomis rods and 3 St Croix rods. I prefer Gloomis for sensitivity and St Croix for moving baits. It's hard to beat St Croix's Avid line for value. You can't go wrong either way and I think you'd be happier with either option over the GL2.

I was suggesting the IMX series. They retail at $270 I believe.

Since you're looking at Gloomis I would suggest the MBR843. The sensitivity will be better than the GL2 rod. If thats over your price range you might consider a used MBR. You should be able to find a used MBR less than the price of a new GL2.
