  1. I'm more comfortable reeling w/left and casting w/right. And since I just started fishing seriously about 3 years ago, I had the choice of left-handed baitcasters when I started buying my equipment. So that's what I got, all lefty's.
  2. Nobasspro, Thanks for replying. I'm probably not gonna buy a MI license now with the season winding down, but I would definatly be interested in getting together next Spring and fishing. Hillsdale MI is 20 miles North of me. I think we're about 2 hours apart. I'm sure there's a ton of lakes between you and Hillsdale, plus Northern IN. Thanks again. I'll add you as a friend and we'll definatly get together next year. Jeff
  3. Wow that was interesting. I guess I got a lot to learn. But that's why I'm here, and I am learning. I got a lot of fish this past spring on the jig, and hope to catch even more next spring with what I'm learning here. Practice, practice, practice. Thanks for all the input. Bottomline, don't let the bass play with the jig, Hook her when you feel her. Jeff
  4. So, was my advice good or not?
  5. LOL. Cliff is my brother, and he's taught me what I know. I just thought it would be funny that I give him advice.
  6. Hey all, I live in NW Ohio, close to Indiana and Michigan. I do all my Fishing here at a small (30 acre) lake within 2 miles of my home mainly cause I have nobody to fish with. Would love to do some fishing in Michigan and/or Indiana. The only time I venture North or West is when my brother from Texas comes to visit. I just don't wanna drive a distance to unfamiliar water by myself and deal with unloading boat, etc. Plus if something was to happen, it's not good to be by yourself. It's only a 10 minute drive for me to get to the 2 state lines. So if there's anyone nearby that would like a fishing partner, please let me know. I know the season is about done till Spring, but I'm preparing early. I have a 14' boat w/18hp outboard, bow mount TM, fishfinder, pedestal seats, etc. Thanks a lot. Hope to hear from someone. Jeff
  7. Cliff, I know I can't tell you anything, but whenever I'm jig fishing (and as you know, I do a lot of it in the Spring) and feel a hit, I collect the slack then wait for the line to tighten, this tells me that the Bass has taken it in and is moving with it. Then I'll (as you say) slam it home. This seems to work for me. But you know more than I do. And remember, they may be swimming towards the boat, so if you have a lot of extra slack, reel it up and get 'er done! Jeff
  8. Hey everyone, OK, last weekend went out, did good, got my PB plus another. Believe me a 5lbr and a 3lbr is a good day up here. Water temp was about 56 degrees. Went out again this weekend, yesterday morning and this morning. Water temp is down to 51.5 degrees. Nothing at all to speak of. Yesterday got one dink and a Northern Pike, the Pike loves the cold water so that don't count. (Plus, she bit through my line bringing her in boat and took my favorite crankbait! Arrrggghhh!!!) And this morning, nothing. Tried 5 different presentations at several different locations on lake. Crank, jig, spinner, t-rig Rage Craw, etc. Weather was partly cloudy, calm and cold, (34 degrees). Could that 5 degree difference, be what's shutting them down? Plus, at what temp are they pretty much shut down for the winter up here in the North. Thanks a lot!! Jeff
  9. Up here in Ohio, on my home lake, more than I'd like. But also, 3-4 bass is an excellent day on this lake, 2 is average, so it's all realtive. If I lived down in Texas where my brother lives, though, I would expect better. (He just texted me, 9 already this morn, I got zippo!!) It's OK, I'll just keep working on my technique and learning as much as I can, it can only get better.
  10. I live up in the Northwest corner of the state. About an hour West of Toledo, and only 10 minutes from Michigan and Indiana. I have the choice of fishing any of the 3 states on any given day. Buying fishing licenses get expensive, though. How bout you?
  11. Caught her on a 200 Series Bandit Crankbait, Chart/Pearl. Hopefully this weekend can get some more.
  12. I've been a member for couple years now but I have not utilized bass resource as I should. I am fairly new to bass fishing, but I don't think I do too bad. Compared to a lot of you guys on here though, I'm just a little minnow, as it says in my status. I did just get my pb, 5 pounds, over the weekend, so I'm pretty pumped up about that! I landed over 60 bass this summer, and I'm hoping for a few more before the snow flies. Just spent a week with my brother Cliff (Red) on here, in Waco, Texas and had a great time. Thanks a lot. I look forward to talking to you all.
  13. OK cool. Thanks a lot! I'll let you know how it turns out this weekend.
  14. Can you explain a little more specifically what you mean by "reverse the migration"?
  15. I'm fairly new (less than 3 years) to serious bass fishing. I am fishing a small deep lake in Northwest Ohio. I was wondering if anybody had any advice or tips on fishing a jerk bait in the Fall. The air temp is gonna be in the 40's this weekend and the water temp is in the 50's. I got a couple nice ones this past wknd on a crankbait and will probably continue with that, but was wondering if I'd be wasting my time tying on a suspending jerk bait. Any advice would be great!! Thanks!
  16. Nice job Cliff w/the pics and story. By the way everyone, Cliff didn't brag but he won the fish count for the week 17 to 13. I beat him on size though. It was a great week!
  17. My brother from Texas is coming for a visit next month, he's a big bass fisherman in Texas and I want to take him Largemouth Bass fishing up here in OH, IN or MI. I live in the NW corner of Ohio very close to MI and IN. Whats the best lake, in any of the 3 states, for LMB. Within an hour drive or so of the corner.
  18. I got a 14' v-bottom that I just decked and would like to get a foot controlled trolling motor for the bow. Problem is that in Ohio in Feb. I can't get it in the water to take a measurement. (ice you know) Is there a way to measure for that out of the water, plus my bow has been built up by about 9". See Pics
  19. Been using Power Pro, but just reeled up new reel w/ Berkley Fireline Tracer Braid. Looks pretty good. When weather breaks will try both and see which I like better.
  20. Just got a new Elite Tech Froggin' Stik and paired it w/ a Revo STX and 30# Berkley Fireline for topwater froggin'. Any opinions on this setup, and can I use it for any other application than topwater? Thanks.
  21. Welcome from NW Ohio
