Sounded like you were saying how much better G2 rods are better than Powell max rods. If you were saying all those things about how G2 are better than G1 then I happily agree. I'm looking to getting a G2 rod this winter.

TONS of differences. Lighter, better balance, cork quality, cheaper warranty $20 vs $40 and a Tackle Tour Editors award in the Cranking Wars lineup. If you call or email You will talk with Gary or Richard Dobyns (Gary's son) and they will handle your warranty needs both are very well known fishing pro's out west (Gary just won the US Open and his 40th boat) and not only know the lineups but can give detailed applications on what rod is used for what and under what conditions.. Gary uses a high end Korean company to manufactur his rods. This company makes JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) type rods for the Japanese Market and last I know Gary is the only company that they make rods for sale here in the US?? Mr. Splash is correct there is NO lead added to the butt end of the rods for counter balancing in the G2 Series that I am aware of. Gen 1 there was counter balancing on some of the rods and was more inline at the Powell level. Hope your talking about the G1 rods..

All I know is, The Gander Mtn. in Palm Beach florida has some of the most intelligent employees working in the fishing section. They have answered Every one of my questions from bass fishing to sail fishing. I go there all the time for advice on offshore fishing. I'm actually becoming friends with some of the guys. Good stuff.

The G2 rods are more than twice as much as a powell rod. How can you even compare those?

I'm relatively new to freshwater (mostly fish bass) and I am in love. I am in need of a baitcaster, I have only used some cheap spinnng reels. I don't want to spend too much, $200 or less. That way I can learn on this reel and use it for a 6 months to a year and then I will have a good idea of what top level reel I want. I am also going to be experimenting with all kinds of baits and lures to see what I like. Right now I am looking at either the Revo premier (not the 2010) or the Daiwa 153HSTA supertuned. How do these compare against each other? Other reel options are welcomed! I also have already bought my rod. A Powell Max 683cef. Thanks!

Who said or thought it was supposed to be "as good a GLX or Steez"? I never thougt it would be and if I ever made any reference to that it was not intentional. I recall one time I posted that I would get one and compare it to a glx or steez but I was not implying I thought it was as good and probably should have never made that statement. IMHO, its a good rod. It was your posts and the owner of G-Blanks guaranteed a rod better than G-looms and Steez. So where is the comparison? You said you were going to do a comparison. Seeing as how you were kind of anti at the begining of this thread, please let us know how you like the rod. I am thinking of getting one too, and your opinion would go a long way! I wasn't really "anti", I just did not have a good understanding of the g-blanks product and their pricing but after taking to Larry on the phone and letting him explain their product and how he could pretty much make exactly what I want, I now understand and believe it. If what he told me is correct, they are not going to get rich anytime soon. I think they are trying to establish a name and reputation for now. Its a good plan, if you sell a good product and stand behind it, you will get more customers and the money will come. Hopefully Larry will get back to me soon and confirm my requirements so I can place my order. I will definitely post a comparison to my Steez and Loomis GLX rods. and again. Here you are saying that the owner of G-Blanks told you that his rod will be better than both the G-loomis and Steez. So is it? or is it not? and another....

I'm looking to fish okeechobee during christmas break as well. Right now I'm down at FAU starting my junior year.

Kinda upset with TW. I literally asked them a week ago when they would be getting the new reels in and they said late october early november. I didn't want to wait that long so I bought the original revo premier from Fisherman's Factory Outlet for about 140 shipped.. If I knew they would have gotten these reels so fast I may have just bought my reel at TW.. They're loss. Hopefully in 6 months the prices will drop... maybe.
