  1. citica has the bushing but you can replace the bushing with the bearing if you want. my curados, cores, and chronarch's all have what you describe. alignment comes from the anti reverse bearing and the drive and pinion gear. I think you're good
  2. I just went a nd picked up the only 2 that my walmart had. I've never used one, but for 30 bucks, i don't see it a bad find. I got the 7' mediums and I swear they're stiffer than my bucoo 7' heavies. I understand that the bucoo series is a little underpowered but I didn't think this much
  3. yeah they cost me a double digit a month ago and it was a 7'11" x heavy. I'm done. never again and i was one that said I've never had a problem with mine
  4. i hope the next ones have the micro gearing that the calcutta has
  5. I got one recently and I'm impressed. I do however feel that the previous model is much smoother. I think maybe because the 3gen is lighter, it may transfer the geary feel throughout the reel a little easier. over all though it's nice and much lighter than the gen2. as for deep cranking, i don't think there's a better reel on the market and that's a lot considering I'm part of the shimano possee
  6. I personally think that it's the new gear material. I have the gen3 winch and it wasnt nearly as smooth as the older model but has become with use.
  7. I have that exact combo for traps and i absolutely love to fish this rig.
  8. If youre on a budget skeletor, give sunline sniper a try. it's less manageable than tatsu but is almost as sensitive and very well priced. give tatsu a try though you'll love it. if you ever get tired of paying for it, give sniper a try!
  9. skeletor, you're really splitting hairs as far as sensitivity goes. Toray is a little more sensitive than tatsu but only of a tight line. toray likes to coil up and it definately loses sensitivity when this happens. the tatsu will lay flatter under most conditions making it more sensitive. I wouldnt base my selection of these 3 lines based on sensitivity because they are all 3 super sensitive lines. I would base my selection on manageability and abrasion resistance and thats another paradox in its self. toray is more abrasion resistant, tatsu is more manageable. Under most conditions though, tatsu will hold up extremely well. It is my all time favorite line when excluding cost. hope this helps
  10. I've tried all three and toray was the most sensitive but also least manageable. it's like winch cable. tatsu is most definately the most manageable and I would gladly trade a tad of sensitivity for tatsu's manageability. just my 2 cents
  11. DVT could you explain how the infinispool works.
  12. my new winch has been impressive thus far!
  13. I have a little confusion about the bearing that is pressed on the spool of my new winch. Does this bearing need to be flushed in order to get the full effect of a spool bearing flush and re lube. I would think so. It's just difficult to do with an entire spool of line on it. none of my curados have this bearing. It seems like if you only flush and relube the 2 outer bearings, the 3rd one that is pressed on would still slow the spool down. this 3rd bearing is heavily lubed. when i spin it with my fingers, it wond turn 3 complete turns.
  14. I've got the new winch but i haven't encountered this problem. mainly because every reel I own, the cast control is tightened just enough to keep the spool from sliding left and right. I prefer to let the breaking system do it's job and just feather it a hair with my thumb towards the end of the cast. Most notably on anything I flip or pitch with. However, it im throwing something pretty heavy or with a lot of wind resistance or if it's extremely windy, I'll crank the cast control down a hair. but jus a bit.
  15. they also have last years winch for 99! thats a heck of a deal
  16. The snell has definately improved my hook up percentage, my only complaint is my worm always slides up the line upon hook set. I use straight shank hooks and whe rigging the worm, I pull the eye all the way through the worm and rest it on the body of the worm to prevent it from sliding down. In other words, I use the eye of the hook for the keeper
  17. I have a curado 50 on a 7' mh bucoo that I use for finesse applications and I absolutely love that combo. I have several caras as well and to be honest, I cant really notice the difference. the 7'mh has more than enough backbone for finesse and some small texas rigs. for larger plastic, the 7' heavy is better suited. I've also got the bucoo version of the amistad as well as the cara amistad and again, I'd bet a paycheck that many couldn't feel the difference except for the eva vs cork grips. It's a great rod and like others have said, they're a little softer than some rods of the same power.
  18. lucky, I got mine at the local tackle store here in Louisiana. Bass pro in shreveport said they wont have them for a few weeks. JJ the handle lenght from center of the knob to the other is exactly 3 and 3/4 inches. I took it out to abuse it with deep cranks today and I swear it gets better with each cast. I was right, some break in time has done it well. I still have not flushed and re lubed the bearings yet. I haven't hooked any huge bass yet but I foul hooked a 4 and a half foot at least gar today and the drag performed flawlessly. very smooth!!! I fought it for a good 20 minutes. I have the reel on the veritas winch model in 7'6" MH and this fish was about all it could handle. I got the gar right up to the boat and snapped the line. I'd say the gar was 60 pounds or so. which by the way i have it spooled up with 16 pound sunline supernatural and this mono kicks ****!!! the whole combo is just a joy to fish with. I did a lot of backing off and tightening on the drag and like i said it was flawless. cool fish! wish i couldve landed it!
  19. just picked up my gen 3 winch and had to take it for a test drive. the first thing that i noticed was the weight, or lack there of. the new model is considerably lighter than last years model. ergonomics: the 3 sits very low on the reel seat and is very palmable and comfortable. One complaint is that the newer gear box is much lower and larger and my palming hand fingers feel funny against it. this isn't even really a complaint as I'm certain that with time, I'll become as comfortable with it as I am my other reels. The over sized eva knobs are nice too; however, I do find them a little thick. I think I'm going to attempt to reshape them to get rid of some of the blockish feel. over all they provide great grip and are fairly comfortable to hold. Castability: Mind you, this is a brand new out of box reel that I'm sure will improve with a flush and re lube. with that being said, out of the box it's the best casting reel that I've ever experienced. the new dual breaking system is superior to anything that I have experience with. and that's a lot coming from a die hard shimano fan. I found the best break setting to be 2 centrifugal weights out and about 25% on the magnetic. remarkably, when changing to say a much lighter square bill, I found that just a little bit more mag brake was all that was required to make long manageable casts. this thing absolutely hurls big cranks and I'm sure that much of that is attributable to the rod but long hard casts are worry free once dialed in and this instills a lot of confidence for me when fishing deep divers. I want to make huge casts with dd22's and the last thing I want to worry about is bird nesting and that is simply not a problem with the new model. retrieve: out of the box with no line I thought that the gen 3 was not as smooth as the older model. I don't know yet if the gen 3 has all brass gears but abu advertises a new d2 dura gear set for the gen 3. the newer gear set has to be lighter and I guess the trade off is thelighter weight aginst the smoothness of the older gear material. I'm not saying that the gen 3 is not smooth, its just not buttery like the older model. another possibility thats attributal to this is the over all weight reduction of the reel could give it the hollow feel that it has. on a positive note, once I filled it up with line, some of the hollow feel went away. At 22" per turn, I found the gen 3 to have the perfect retrieve for deep divers, a-rigs, big swim baits, and big slow rolling spinners. the reel has gobs of torque available mostly due to the oversized handle on the reel. again I'm sure that with a clean and relube and some break in time, the reel will become as buttery smooth as the older model. Although I haven't had the opportunity to test the drag on a large fish, I found the drag to be sufficient and smooth, Im assuming that this is a dry drag stack and for a dry drag stack it feels relly smooth with good start up.. Overall: I do think that this is the best cranking reel offered to date. I have curado e5's, chronarch e5's, Pro-q crankers and calcuttas and I think this reel outshines them all when you look at the overall performance. Only time will tell if the gen3 winch will hold up and by all means I hope it does because I think that Abu has a winner with this reel. My only real complaint is that the palm side side plate does not swivel like a shimano. If one were not careful, I suspect it would be easy to drop the plate in the water, however, once the reel is dialed in, I don't see much of a reason to remove it as minute adjustments can be made with the mag control. I hope you've enjoyed my initial review. I'd like to put it through the ringer and get back to everyone whose interested in more detailed review. Tight lines every body, colt manning
  20. when you stop the handle the spool keeps turning because that "T" is not seating in the recesses all the way allowing the spool to keep turning
  21. the sound that you're hearing is the little perpendicular T on the spool shaft not seating all the way into the pinion recesses.
  22. I can tell you that on my shimanos it's done the same thing before. i couldnt figure it out for the life of me. I finally figured that the spool was sliding to far to the palm side because the little fiber spacer that goes behind the palm side spool bearing was missing. I guess it fell out when cleaning and I never noticed it. I have since replaced it on the reels that were missing it and I haven't had the problem since.
  23. might wanna try the veritas winch. 7'6" mh/m. I've seen em as low as 61.00
  24. I love the bucoo series, they have the gulf cranker model that is 7'6 medium but like others have said, it's nowhere near adequate for deep divers. the 7' model is great for square bills and cranks down to maybe 8'. I did however pick up the winch in 7'6 mh moderate the other day in the tackle store and was really impressed! this rod will be my next deep crank rod! it's super light with a great action
  25. make sure the shift linkage is hooked up properly first. I just did this on my xr6 this weekend and when finished, it was hard to go into forward or reverse. once you get it in the water and crank it, it should release the bind it's in. hope this helps.
