Never Fished For Smallmouth
I'm heading to north alabama this weekend for a family reunion and I've heard there is some small mouth fishing. Being from north louisiana, I've never fished for smallies. any ideas on what I should bring as far as tackle. I've got just about every soft plastic and hardbait style on the market. just curious what to bring.

Revo Mgx
good looking reel. I think they'll be typical of most of the revo series though. I've had all of the series up to the mgx and they've all felt great out of the box. I just don't think the gear material (duralumin) is up to the task in terms of longevity. The shimano lineup might not be the buttery smoothest reel on the market but I do know they'll perform and feel the way they did 7 yrs from out of the box new. with that being said I hope the mgx is a solid performer. Industry needs competition. competition is what drives innovation and this can only be a good thing for the end consumer.

Bass Pro Crankin Rod, New
I think a moderate action would be better suited for deep cranking, but if getting another rod is out of the question, just back of on your drag.

Lew's Made By Pure Fishing?
duralumin gears and a korean origin??? sounds pretty abuish to me. heck i'll give one a shot for a couple of months and sell it here if I don't like it.

Lew's Made By Pure Fishing?
now that I know it's not true. I'm going to purchase a tournament pro

Lew's Made By Pure Fishing?
I'm glad that I heard wrong. I actually heard they were made by the same people who makes abu garcia's. and yes it does matter who manufactures them especially if i don't like other reels that they manufacture and it is MY preference as to what I buy. so yes it does matter to me. say if you don't like a particular car manufacturer and they manufacture other cars under another name. don't you think that some of the characteristics and errors of the parent company will trickle into the other product?

Lew's Made By Pure Fishing?
Just heard in the local tackle store that they were 100% sure the new Lew's reels were being manufactured by pure fishing??? anyone know if this is true?

Plastics Combo?
I have cumaras, crucials, several falcon caras which i love, a couple of mossybacks and for the bottom line the bucoo is hard to beat for an all around worm rod. as for the revo sx, its a good little reel. feels great out of the box and then within a few months gets that typical abu gear whine. I think the curado handles the lighter stuff a little better too. I'm also not a huge fan of mag. cast control either. I know i sound like a shimano fanboy and I guess I am. it's just that I haven't found anything that the curado does poorly or even mediocre.

My New Tin
that is actually one helluva nice rig. clutter free and the deck is big on it. 17'?

Plastics Combo?
If I were you I'd look at the bucoo series from falcon. I'm not sure if you'd like a mh for plastics but their 7' heavy is on the lighter side of heavy. This is a super sensitive rod and extremely light that is relatively affordable considering the components used. I think the bucoo with microguides can be had for around $120. as for reels, I'd go with a citica or curado. the curado can be found on line for around $140. I absolutely love this combo for smaller plastics.

Nitro Nx 882 Dc
yeah it's no ranger or skeeter but it doesn't come with that price either. I have a 2004 nx 882 sc that i picked up for $9200. motor has less than 200 hrs.on it. I think it fishes wonderfully. It is a little cramped in the drivers seat but I'm 6'3". I don't do a heck of a lot of riding in it any way. the longest run I make is less than 20 minutes. mine has the xr6 150 and it'll top out around 62. plenty fast for me. this motor will drink the gas if you're wide open in it. One good thing I've noticed is it will ride on plane at a pretty low speed. i can normally cruise pretty comfortably and conservatively at 2800 to 3000 rpm's. i think you'll get the most of efficiency out of the motor at this rpm range. overall I'm extremely pleased. a 20 footer would be nice but for$9200 I think I got a steal. you'll be happy with it

Looking For Reviews On...
i don't know about cast-ability but its a heckuva lot more sensitive. even on the most subtle bites. most rods with micros have more guides than rods that don't, therefore more line is touching the blank= more sensitivity.

Seaguar Tatsu
ok sniper is not shooter??? what's the main difference. I didn't see shooter in the tackle store

Looking For A 7'6" Crankin Rod
google G-blanks. I had one built earlier this year and it's a phenomenal cranking stick. 7'6" m/h moderate fast split grip, split reel seat, and micro guides for $140. it 's incredibly sensitive and can hurl big cranks a mile.
-
Seaguar Tatsu
I did try some sunline sniper in #20. while it does lay pretty darn straight, it does not pitch, flip or cast as well as tatsu. the sniper wants to push off of the spool. and when bottom contact fishing, any amount of slack in the line and the line wants to un coil like a spring off of the spool. tatsu does not do this. I guess there is no substitute. I hate buying it but I absolutely love fishing it. for those of you who have not tried it, don't unless you want to continue buying. It is simply that great of a product

Seaguar Tatsu
anybody know of an equivalent that's not so expensive. I really like the tatsu i just don't like paying for it?

Flipping And Pitching Rod
I've been using the Falcon Cara Amistad micro. it's 7'3" heavy, extra fast i think. don't quote me on that action. paid $229 for it and I love it. I kinda thought the micros were a fad at first. One thing I noticed about them was when a fish soft mouths my lure, if I don't feel it, I definitely hear the line slap the guides if its pretty calm out. first time that happened i was like holy crap, that was cool. i don't want to think of how many bites may have gone unnoticed. but then again, maybe it's all in my head and I'm super easy to market to.

Let's talk Cranking Rods.
I just had a G-Blanks custom built that's perfect for deep cranking. It's a 7'6" mh moderate fast. you can hurl a dd22 with this thing. It was $140 to my door with micro guides. I have it paired with a curado e5. Oh yeah it was built and at my door in 2 weeks

custom Rods???
I just had a new cranking stick made from larry over at g-blanks. i'm very impressed. it's a 7'6" m/h moderate fast with split eva grips and a fully exposed reel seat like a carrot stix and micro guides. price was 160 to my door and I got it in a little over 2 weeks. I tried it out @ the lake the other day and I can darn near spool my curado e-5 with a 1/2 oz trap. It's got a good parabolic bend to it when using a deep diver like a dd22 but still has plenty of backbone. I think it's a rainshadow blank

so I bought a 50e
like the subject says, i bought one. I've been so happy with the 200's that I saw no need to earlier. this little jewel is impressive... that is after I removed the spool bearings and soaked them to get rid of the god awful amount of assembly grease and re-lubed withe a drop of reel butter oil. this thing is going to be fantastic for some finesse and weightless plastic fishing. the only drawback of the reel that I can see is the ratio and ipt. my question is as follows; will the core50 mg7 gearset work with this reel? I personally don't see why not as the curado 50 and the core 50 share many of the same parts numbers per shimano's schematics most importantly the yoke. the current ipt for the 50 curado is 25. I think that 3 more inches per turn would really make things a lot better. any input or experience? I already have a set of gears, drag disc and washer for a core 50. sorry for the long post

Just bought a E21 carrot stix. Should I like it?
I have a 7'9" extra heavy that I use for jigs and frogs. I like it so far. had it for about 6 mos with no breakage yet.

Falcon crankbait rod
just picked up a 7'3" cara amistad with micros. its unreal. I love it. as for the bucoo, I have a couple including the one you listed. I find it a little soft for larger cranks. I wish they would make the 7'6 in m/h. that would be a great rod for deep cranks. bucoos are solid rods though. I'd buy again.
