When should I use a 7.1:1 reel??
I use one for everything except deep cranks and for that i use a 6:1 calcutta gtb. for me its much easier to slow down than speed up.

need new deep cranking stick
Thanks for all of the replies and information guys. I'm in between the bucoo bcc4-176 and the pinnacle perfecta. we'll see. I don't think I'll be needing to deep crank for a while anyway.

need new deep cranking stick
I'm really liking the bucoo bcc4 176. I'm just concerned that it will not have the back bone for deeper cranks. I have the 7' model of the same rod and when I really whip on it with a dd22 tied on i feel like I could break it. but it hasn't yet and I can get some serious distance with that rod.

need new deep cranking stick
I was thinking about this one. I have it in the 7' model. do you think the 7'6" model would handle deep cranks well?

I would like a split grip 7' or better cranking stick for dd22's. any suggestions. oh yeah and not over $150

Carrot Stix 7'9" CLTX791XH-C
holy crap...6 oz. I used 2 oz. and i thought it felt perfect. I have a curado e7 on it.

Carrot Stix 7'9" CLTX791XH-C
well... I'm impressed. I cant believe how light this rod is for almost 8feet. it pitches and flips effortlessly and I think i kinda looks cool with a curado. I'll be honest and say that i was one who said to myself "i'll never buy one of those" just because that's what people were saying. but on the other hand i'm glad i waited because i got one for 89

general reel question i 'spose.
i've always heard dry or very sparingly on the arb

Carrot Stix 7'9" CLTX791XH-C
because of you and this thread i bought one. I figured for 89.00 what the hell. i needed a new flippin/frog stick. they're ugly an i've heard the break but with a warranty like that i said what ever. if i don't like it i'm sure some newb woud take it off my hands for what i had in it. i get it tomorrow and i'll post my review for what ever it's worth

bucoo vs. lowrider
thanks so much for the input. pitching in the back yard i don't really notice the 2" i lost in length

bucoo vs. lowrider
just noticed today that the rod blank on my bucoo 7'heavy was rotating inside the reel seat. I took it back to academy for an exchange but there were no 7'heavy bucoos. they offered to exchange my bucoo for a 6'10" heavy lowrider even swap. question is, will i notice the 2" difference. rod is mainly for t-rigging and football jigs. is the lowrider a better rod?

My Curoado 50 E arrived today
I'm not gonna bother with them. I think it's a downgrade from the 200e. One reason is the size of my hands. I have huge hands and i think that the 200e is perfect in size. I also as stated above don't like the fact that the 50 e doesn't come withe the 200e handle. I like the 200e7 retrieve rate too. The 200e is a hit and there's not enough positive difference for me to buy a 50e especially when you can get a 200 for 60-70 dollars cheaper. oh yeah I don't like the plastic drag star on the 50 either. I know it's probably just as functional, it's just one of those things

replacement rod?
well I went with the bucoo 7' medium. I've been pleased with this line so far. the tacklestore had carrot stix on sale for 99.00 and i almost bit on it to say i tried one but they insisted on the bucoo. they're good friends so i know they weren't just trying to make the sale on a rod that wasn't marked down. thanks for all of the input guy's. Colt

replacement rod?
thanks for all of the replies. as for the bucoo, I have 4 of their 7' heavies. couldn't ask for a better rod at that price and even much higher. headed to the tacklestore tomorrow to shake a few rods.

replacement rod?
I stepped on my old trusty shimano cantar rod and broke it yesterday. this is an inshore rod so many of you have probably never heard of it. it had the perfect action for shallow to medium cranks. It was a 7' medium. I loooooved this rod. I need a replacement for a tourny this weekend. was thinking about a vendetta simply because of price. I definitely want a 7' but whether i want another med. or med/heavy is the question. any input will help thanks...Colt

i know that this is purely aesthetic but i wish the drag star wasn't painted
