  1. Wow, that is surprising. There was a time that all I ever built was Loomis rods and sent several back and they were all replaced without question. I haven't had to send one back lately though.
  2. I've been talking about building a crappie rod off a fly rod blank. Well, I finally ordered the materials. A 7'-9" 3 wt fly blank. Hopefully it performs like I think it will. Should feel nice with a small real on it. Anyone use something similar?
  3. If you plan to do the work yourself, I'd say go for it. But like the others have said, if I'm going to do it for someone, I'd talk them out of it due to cost.
  4. Thanks all...I was thinking about attaching a magnetic strip (like one you find in a tool box). My v-hull has a 4" or so ledge inside the boat that is a good collector, but it's carpeted and everything that I put on it gets hung up.
  5. What do you all do to reduce the number of lures you have laying loose around your boat? I know the easy solution is to put them back in your box, but I find myself hanging them off of everything I can find close rather than going back to my box. BTW...my box is one of the double sided style and I have found that if I have to go to it 10 times, I have to flip it all 10 to get to the side I want.
  6. Thanks for the info everyone. I ended up giving $1500 for it. It does have a working bilge pump. It also has a kicker plate that I've considered puting an old 4hp that I have on it...just in case. I'll check into the charger...
  7. Hi all. I have been fishing out of a 12' jon for the past few years and decided I needed something a little bigger. I found a deal on a 16' Sea Nymph fishing machine w/ a 25hp Evinrude. I'm pretty mechanically minded, but I know next to nothing about the working order of a boat....so, of course, I have a few questions. First, the boat is a 1986 and in good condition for a boat 10 years it's junior. Although, it hasn't been in the water yet this year. What should I do prior to it's maiden trip? Any tips on loading and unloading it? I'm used to pulling the jon out of the water and throwing it on a flat trailer. It doesn't have a fish finder, but I plan on putting the one off my jon on it...can I wire it directly into the main battery? Does this battery need periodic charging? Any tips or trick will be appreciated.
