  1. I would probably start in the shallows throwing a buzzbait and spinnerbait then move out deeper as the day goes on and drag the carolina rig. Around here in NC ive been seeing a bunch of schoolers late in the evening from about 3 until 5. Hope this will help, try fishing a little later and see if the bite doesnt pick up a little
  2. You're dead on Chris. the guy who has won most of our club tourneys this year fished nothing banks all year. When i pass by him I wonder to my self why would he pick that bank. All of the banks have been on the main lake and not in coves or creeks. Long story short I am now a beleiver of the plain nothing banks.
  3. for c rigging I usually use a 2/0 gammy wide gap will occasionally switch to a 1/0 when fishing finesse worms but I usually stick with the 2/0 ewg. I have probably caught close to 100 fish this year on this rig with no gut hooks. A very sensitive rod and line also helps, and I always keep my index finger tight on the line so i will feel the bite before I sense it on my rod.
  4. mine is a 4" yamamoto kut tail worm on a 1/8 ounce shakey head rigged on a 7 ft spinning rod with 10 lb. mono
  5. yes i have had more sucess with the jighead but I still lose a few. When I am fishing that deep I am using 10 lb PLine premium on a spinning outfit, its not the stiffest line on the market by no means.
  6. Jdw I have had the same problem with the screw in weights. I believe that the weight either gets in the way or causes the plastic to ball up on the hook. I have switched to a jighead with a 4/0 hook such as the spotsticker or shakey head.
  7. Amen on the copenhagen
  8. I would say the best time to arrive is right before light. One of my favorite lures to throw in the morning is a buzzbait.
  9. Would you all please hush I am drooling all over myself thinking of this place. Good luck roadwarrior let us know how it is.
  10. I also started out fishing soft plastics. To add to that i have caught my biggest two fish a 6.5 and a 7.2 lb. bass with soft plastics. The kicker is that I have won a few tournaments on cranks, spinnerbaits and jigs. Versitility is the key to becoming a good fisherman. Its good to have a confidence bait but keep an open mind>
  11. here in the carolinas its as unstable as it gets this year anyway i feel your pain
  12. if youre not sure if you have gotten a bite then you probably havent. Tap tap tap tap or if you see your line move off .
  13. People set up these nets to make a living, these are the netters that mark their nets well enough for any boater to see. The problem is the illegal netters who just set their nets and mark it with a pepsi can or something like that. These are the people who have had confrontations with the fishermen. I dont agree with the netters but hey this is america and they have rights or wrongs as I like to call them.
  14. hope this is a little help.
  15. congratulations this is one of the 3 best topwater baits ever made. Have fun and hold on! jerk it twitch it chug it reel it you cant go wrong
  16. the best advice i can give and im sure youve heard it 1000 times is hooksets are free! Just stick with this bait and before long you will have a new go to bait i promise.
  17. If i may put my 2 cents in all of the above posts are correct I would just like to add to it. When the water levels fluctuate to that degree I have found that working vertical structure has been fairly productive. In vertical structure I am mainly referring to bridge pilings and very steep almost vertical banks. Bridge pilings are vertical so bass wont have to leave them in the event of a big draw down, they just move up and down with the water and suspend at a comfortable level. Im no pro by no means I am just telling you what ive had luck doing in this situation.
  18. welcome connie
  19. I agree the black buzz-bait is my favorite top water heck it is probably my favorite lure.
