Deps Buzzjet Vs Buzzjet Jr
I agree, I've been blasted many times on the pause. And when youre waking it slowly, slow down even more. I move mine so slow it barely even makes a wake. This is what I do at night time anyways. I tend to sweep hard to the side as well when setting the hook on these.

Deps Buzzjet Vs Buzzjet Jr
I only fish the 96 or four inch size. I have seen bass barely 6 INCHES eat this bait. I would stick with the big one. I also switch the hooks with owner stinger 41 number 1 size hooks. Luckily I havn't lost one yet since the switch.

Great day! I have a brand new popmax that's been sitting in my garage for months!!! Maybe it's time to give it a try. I think I'll hold off selling it.

Abt Lures Banshee Swimbait
I think they looked very good on the video. I'm waiting for some personal experiences before I buy, although for the price I am hoping they work as good as they look. I prefer the six inch one coming out!

Lookin' To Start Punchin'
Check this guy out. Youtube Mikeybalzzfishing and watch him. He explains what he's doing sometimes. I think he uses 65-85 pound braid on a heavy or x heavy flippin stick. He uses 1-1.5 ounce weights and plastics like the gambler cricket. When he sets the hook, the fish is buried in weeds and he has to stick his arm down there to get them out sometimes.

Night Time Topwater Lures
Black Buzzjet, 4 inch!!!!!!!!! Fish it fast, slow or even deadstick it at times, it works great! The snook around here also seem to like it alot too.

Okeechobee Rim Canal
Thanks for the help, maybe we'll have to go to the main lake. I don't know anything about the lake but I've been told the rim maybe a good spot this time of year because of the water levels. I've never flipped mats before, maybe a good time to try!

Okeechobee Rim Canal
Is the canal castable from shore to the other side or should we fish from a boat? Is most of the canal a rocky bottom? 15-20 in 60-90 minutes isn't bad. What was the big fish for the day? I am thinking of throwing cranks, jigs, plastic worms and some BIG swimbaits just in case a giant may be in there looking for a bigger meal.

Okeechobee Rim Canal
Has anyone here experienced fishing the rim canal this time of year near Clewiston or MooreHaven? A couple questions I was wondering about is how deep is this canal? What works best, techniques anyways? Are there double digit bass in the canals this time of year. What kind of structure is found in this canal. I really appreciate any help, thanks everyone!!!

Hooksets With Crankbaits
Great input evrybody, thank you! I think from reading my biggest problem is the action of my rod. Any suggestions on best cranking rods that can still pull fish out of heavy weeds but still be forgiving as not to pull hooks from the fishs' mouth?

Hooksets With Crankbaits
To add, when you hook into a crank bait fish, is it better to reel them in fast or slower?

Hooksets With Crankbaits
How many of you wait until you feel pressure from the fish before setting? From most of my catches it seems there's a fraction of a second to set the hook before the fish rejects it.

Hooksets With Crankbaits
Grey wolf, probably the most informative post in this thread as that's why I'm asking for help. Sorry for missing the old thread "crank baits plus hookups" but thank you Paul Roberts for posting that!!!

Hooksets With Crankbaits
These cranks are all very new, but I definitely think better hooks are needed. Before I replace them I am thinking maybe I am doing something wrong.

Hooksets With Crankbaits
I also have been fishing crankbaits alot lately. I am getting bit quite frequently with crankbaits, but I am having a hard time keeping fish hooked! I caught 7 the other day on crankbaits but I lost at least 7 or more. I am using 7 foot rod with a extra fast tip and I have tried sweeping my rod to the side and jerking hard when I feel the bite. I have waited until I feel the pressure of the fish and I have also set as soon as I feel some irregularity in the retrieve. I hook the fish but at least half of them are coming off after a couple seconds into the fight. I am using squarebills, xcalibur, rapala clackin crank, strike king kvd and norman's fatboys. Appreciate any insight on this!!!!

What's a big bag? 3/20/11
I'd be happy with that bag here in Florida, nonetheless in Tennessee! Good job.

Megastrike Jigs
I agree bassthumb, I use them and really like them, but they are too pricey or I would buy them alot more. I havn't fished them in awhile but I don't think the skirts are hand tied either.
