Help A New Boater In Fl. Please
I just purchased a new starter boat and am excited to get off the banks for once! I am really looking forward to Lake O and I'll launch out of Moorehaven or Clewiston. I was just wondering if the water is safe to travel on at Lake O? Maybe now I'll find out how it feels to have one of those 50-100 fish days!

Value Jet Memorial
I have fished there a few times and I have only caught on deep and medium diving crankbaits. This was at night as well, forgot to mention that a few also came on frogs fished parallel to the shore. One fish I got from there was about 4 pounds and missing half of his lower jaw. Felt bad for it. I never did have any great days there.

Lake O 11-23
WOW!!! 3-5 pound schoolies. I am very happy for you man that you had such a good time. I hope one day I get half that lucky. I had one run once where I caught about 5 in ten minutes but they were two pounders. I hope you get into some of the bigguns soon!

Braid For Flipping
I personally fish rocks with straight braid as well. Just check your line often and retie when necessary.

Rod And Reel For Flippin And Pitchin?
Agree, cover and lure weight should help you narrow down your choice. I flip super thick cover and I use a Kistler 7ft Broomstick and a STX 6:4:1 reel. This setup may be a little heavier than some like, but this combo for me is a tank setup. I'd use a longer 7'6 stick or even 8' but I'm only 5'7.

Have Been Outfished Bad......
I saw that video and yes, pretty amazing footage and never would believe they could inhale a crankbait and spit it without getting the hook caught up in the least bit of way. If bass can suck and spit a lure out this quick, I believe that it is probably true, alot of fisherman get bit and may never know it.

Jig Fishing - Your Thoughts
I really don't know if I agree with Hackney on jigs enticing bigger bass to bite them versus a plastic bait. I think that both presentations work in that they are both slower moving presentations attractive to bigger bass. I've seen lots of big bass taken on plastics. On the other hand, for reactionary bites, flipping is the same. Jig or plastic I believe would get the same results. On the other hand, I believe a jig mimics most a crawdad which I believe big bass prefer more than chasing other fish which puts crawdads tops on their list of prey to eat.

Favorite Plastic
I just got the Blackdogbaits Mr. Flippy and I am really excited to try this one out. Big fat profile that I was looking for for quite awhile.

Braid For Flipping
I agree with this. Never a leader for flipping in heavy slop.

Roland's Back At It.
I saw him just the other day getting on I75 here in Ft. Myers. He was driving a big Gary Yamamoto decaled van towing his Nitro Z8. I hope he does well too. Love all these guys like Martin, Dance, Parker, Grigsby. They provided me many hours of entertainment while growing up!

What Type Of Point Is This?
Well said, I agree. I think the more productful points are exactly what you are referring too. A point with underwater contours that eventually drop off into deep BIG bass water. I see alot of shoreline points that are, well just that..no drop, ledges, shelfs or whatever you want to call them.

Have Been Outfished Bad......
The other day my friend and I were fishing jigs all day. One of us was dragging the jig with longer pauses (2-3 seconds) and occasional hop within retrieves. One of us was hopping it the whole retrieve with occasional very short pauses (less than a second). The hopping or quicker retrieve was the ticket that day. Same baits, two different retrieves, one productful, the other not so much. Same thing with flipping, qucker popping of the jig was more productive that day as well.

Easy Method To Adding Or Replacing Jig Skirt
You and me both! Nothing irritates me more than a new trailer with both claws ripped off!!

Easy Method To Adding Or Replacing Jig Skirt
Excellent post, sometimes I even use these zip ties to hold my trailer on a little longer as well. If I can get a couple more fish on the one trailer it is worth it to me. Some plastics now days are 6-7 bucks for a bag of 5!!

Clear Water Jigs
I fished jigs alot this weekend and the color of choice just so happened to be ANY! (black, brown, blue, green) There could be several variables for this, but I happen to believe it's just because the bass were so active feeding they weren't as selective. Now trying to entice an inactive bass I DO believe color/presentation does become an important variable. I actually ran out of matching trailers and jigs so my color combinations were way off.

Deps Buzzjet
I prefer the regular in bluegill color and have caught lots of fish with this, but I have caught larger bass with the bone version. Anyone have any thoughts on this and which you prefer. I just ordered a couple new ones in bone. Maybe the difference in sound is more appealing to bigger bass? (over 7 pounds) Maybe the fact that I can wake the bone version slower and wakes more side to side on a faster retrieve may make the difference. Maybe I'm overthinking this too much Anyways, just like to hear peoples opinion on this.
