  1. The ref should have stood them up instead of letting Roy just lay on top of Kimbo......bad reffing in my opinion. Kimbo has been working on his ground game since he's been training with Bas Rutten and Randy Couture, but when you have a 275lb whale laying on top of you it doesn't matter. Dana White hates Kimbo, so it doesn't surprise me at all to see him sucking up to Roy after the fight. Steve
  2. I'm using 8# fluro with a 3/8oz jig head on my tubes. Drag the bottom, give it a little action, and the Smallies love it. We are normally in 2-10 feet of water when using tubes. Steve
  3. I found a good line guide on another Bass Fishin website, seems to all make sense. Can't post the link here as the software blocks it. Steve
  4. What does that code do? Steve
  5. That thing looks great...............could comfortably fish like 6 people, and still have room for the BBQ and cooler of beer. Steve
  6. I make it a habit to put the lures back in the box as I'm tying on the new one............cuts down on lost lures and hooks in the toes. Steve
  7. I stayed with Mono on them..........12lb SpiderwireXXX on my medium baitcaster, and 20lb SpiderwireXXX on my Med/Heavy baitcaster. Been using Mono for years, can't see a reason to change now. Steve
  8. Went to Ossipee again today.............bites were hard to come by. Caught 2 LM on a white spinnerbait, and 1 LM on a crankbait about 10-12 feet down. Also caught a pickeral on the white spinnerbait. My buddy caught 1 LM on a worm, 1 LM on a chartruese spinnerbait, and 1 SM on the same spinnerbait. Overall a good day on the water. Steve
  9. I tie direct to the split ring, that allow the lure to move around better. Steve
  10. Great East Lake is also a great SM source, crystal clear water with a rocky bottom. Went there about a month ago, had a good day with all Smallies on tubes. Little Sebago about 3 weeks ago, got quite a few SM and a few LM. Most of them coming on tubes again. Arrowhead and Ossipee are also great places to go........LM and SM on varied lures. Heading to Ossipee in the morning............hoping for some hungry fish getting ready for winter. Steve
  11. I've been thinking about a 10' version for a while, that way if a buddy wants to come there will be room. I found one used locally with a trailer, battery, and trolling motor for $1200, but since it's the end of season I may be able to get it cheaper. My pickup bed is only 5', so the trailer would be a great bonus. Steve
  12. That's an awesome fish!! Great job. Steve
  13. I always carry a small scale, a small tape measure, and also my camera phone...........never know when you are going to catch a monster. Great story. Steve
  14. Just found this site last week, and I haven't stopped reading yet............great site with great info. Been fishing for about 20 years, always looking for a good SM or LM to catch. Steve
  15. I use a jitterbug a lot............and normally when they hit the lure, the treble hooks catch something, give it a second then set the hook, and they are on for the ride. With 6 hooks swinging around, they are bound to hook the fish somehow. Steve
  16. Found it..................Bassin is the correct one. Thanks, Steve
  17. That's the truth!! Since I found this site, I've been reading and reading. I still like to have some magazines to see some advertisements and have something laying around to look at. Is there a website for Bassn? I did a google search for Bassn, and I got a sex/spiritual site in Boston.........LOL Bassmaster looks good too..........$15 is pretty cheap as well. Steve
  18. Are there any good Bass fishing magazines? I'm looking for one that covers just bass if possible. In-fisherman seems to cover a lot of stuff I'm not interested in, so I'd like to find a better option. Thanks for any help Steve
  19. I have my spinning combo set up for fishing tubes with 8# fluro. I use my casting combo for about everything else, but I am going to be picking up another casting rod for an old reel I have. I think I'm going to set up my current casting combo with a braided line since it's a med-heavy rod. The new casting setup I'm going to set up is going to be med. weight, so I think I go with mono. Thanks for all the tips and help. Steve
  20. I need to put new line on my baitcasting setup that I use for Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, surface lures, and frogs. What is the best way to go now with all the new technology in lines? I'm currently using 15lb Spiderwire mono...........but I've been thinking of trying out a braided line for added strength and the smaller size. Thanks for any help Steve
  21. Those are some great looking big Smallies. Good Job!! What did you catch them on? Steve
  22. I run Cabela's 8# 100% Fluorocarbon no-vis on my spinning setup that I use with tubes for smallies. Steve
  23. Tubes are the way to go with Smallies...........they look like a crawfish which the Smallies love. Put a rattle in the tube as well, attracts them even more. Steve
  24. My buddy and I have been using tubes for smallmouths with great results. Pumpkinseed Tube, put a rattle, and a 3/8 oz jig head..........they are killing it on the fall. Steve
  25. I love a top-water strike............no guess work involved. Jitterbug is my all-time favorite top water lure, working it thru some lillypads or grass.........and the bass just kills it. Steve
